That's a good point. The angels fell because they doubted God's character. Their faith floundered on the slander and lies of Lucifer. Rebellion, one of several descriptors of sin, then became inevitable.Actually, righteousness has always been by faith, even before Lucifer became proud.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Every sin that's ever been committed is due to a distorted view of God's character. That's a good point. So sin comes about because we don't believe God's word, and doubt His love and goodness, thus we become selfish in order to provide for and preserve ourselves? The more we doubt, the more we become selfish and hard hearted toward God and others I suppose.
Hence why grace through faith is the only way back to God, and the only way to attain to righteousness. So my suggestion that sin is a choice, is only as valid as our choice to believe and trust in God. Which makes the possibility of overcoming sin even more attainable. Like QT said in another thread. Focusing and learning the true gospel automatically guards one against any false ones. So hungering and thirsting for righteousness... By faith... Guards one against sin.
Which leads us to a further consideration. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Every sin that's ever been committed is due to a distorted view of God's character.
We are born with the propensity to sin, yes. But those who are born again, those who are now new creatures in Christ, whose old man, the fleshly carnal nature died with Jesus upon the cross and now being risen with Him having power to overcome, being filled with the Spirit of the Almighty God, and like Jesus, united with divinity, not only have a choice (as humans always have had) but now the power to make the correct choice, having the option to call upon the Savior when tempted, who will not allow any to be tempted beyond what they are capable of walking away from.
Obediance serves the one true God . Disobediance serves the god in the mirror , aka self . have you ever noticed that .The more things change, the more they stay the same. Every sin that's ever been committed is due to a distorted view of God's character.
Agreed. And all glory to the Father and the Son for making the way possible for all to find forgiveness. And then what? Do we behave like those of Israel in the OT who kept a get out of jail free card grazing in the back paddock and continue their idolatry? Those born again sin as well sir, they have the same avenue of forgiveness that the other sheep have, forgiveness of sin based on the ransom sacrifice of Jesus.
