I believe that the churches are seven... In which each congregation has it's hits and misses....

Ephesus - Apostolic - Beginning with the Apostle of the Circumcision, Peter

Pergamos - Orthodox... Pergos is a tower... Needed in the dark ages
Thyatira - Catholic - The spirit of Jezebel is to control and to dominate.
Sardis - Protestant - A sardius is a gem - elegant yet hard and rigid
Philadelphia - Wesleyism - To be sanctioned is to acquire it with love.
Laodicea - Materialistic - Rich and increased with goods and have need of nothing?

I saw my mother and grandmother in the last 15 years through their time of sickness and death. The hospital only had one religious TV channel, and that was the Cerullo INSP network. It seemed like every sermon was on "Your period of increase." The Lord said to the Laodicean's if you came to him lukewarm he would, "Spew you out of his mouth." And if I felt at the time that if I heard the word "increase" one more time I would do the same.

Great stuff mate, it's great when ya hear of Christians that both listen to the word of faith and walk in the word of faith, living their lives in abundance and success, and a lot more Christians could be doing it, simply if they would watch what they confess and what comes out of their mouth. There's a faith preacher named Howard Willard, who travels the world teaching the word of faith, i don't remember the exact story, but it goes something like this, 1 time he told God, "I would be lucky if i got anything from this church in the offering." What did he get? $5 haha. I believe God told him off for that, and told him to watch what he says, and then went to another church, expecting plenty this time in the offering, what did he get? A lot of money. Ever since he has been living a life of abundance and God has provided him the money, one time some random person he did not know gave him $2 million. One of his sons has a similar story, his mum gave him 10 bucks or whatever it was, and he said "Watch this mum, I'm gonna give this to God and get back 10 fold!" A week later or whatever it was, some money arrived in the mail from his aunt i think it was, and it turned out to be $100 bucks. Haha amazing family that 1. This faith preacher is also a great healing evangelist, he has emptied hospitals of cancer patients, has restored sight to the blind, opened the ears of the deaf, 1 time he had a hole in his foot and he went to the doctor, and the doctor said we are gonna have to amputate your foot, and Howard said "You aren't cutting off no foot!, God will heal it." 9 months later it was healed, from what was impossible for the doctor, God healed it, that is the power of the word of faith.

The 7 churches apply literally to the 7 churches when John wrote Revelation around 95 AD. But it isn't 95 AD anymore. Rev. is timeless, it reaches into history. They have a collective meaning for the whole of church history and that they have an individual meaning for each of us, as we are part of the church. Matching each of the 7 churches with any one church today is an abuse of Revelation, IMO.

At the time it was written, there was one Church. The seven Churches listed were all part of the same universal, apostolic Church. Part of John's job as bishop, was to ensure that the seven Churches listed in Revelation were united in teaching a uniform body of doctrine.
The statement that the Church of Thyatira refers to the Catholic Church seems to infer that the other six churches were somehow not part of the same universal and apostolic Church. That cannot be as a matter of historical fact. There may be lessons we can draw from Revelation relative to non-Catholic Churches as they stand today, but John was not referencing the Baptist or the Methodist Church, that's for sure. All seven were part of one, universal, apostolic Church - the Catholic Church.

I get a bit defensive when I hear that Thyatira represents the Catholic Church. Here in the deep south, it is a given that as soon as you hear someone say that Thyatira represents the Catholic Church, the words "Jezebel" and "harlot" are not too far behind. As soon as I hear that Thyatira represents the Catholic Church, I start looking in the background for a KJV thumping Missionary Baptist hacker preacher from East Tennesee screaming that the Catholic Church is the whore of babylon, the Pope is the anti-Christ, etc.

well, again here you are pointing at an "illusion," when we have already seen that you are a priest, and you can forgive sins, too. You know the formula, and you can impart it to others, right? So i'm not sure about this "thank you, God, that i am not like them" thing you are suggesting, because those guys would not be where they were if they did not have adherents, and while i might agree that Est'd Religion is an antichrist, simply because whenever three or more guys get together and start writing rules down on paper the Spirit goes away, see that it is just as true that Catholics are just people, and there are many good-hearted Catholics out there, so yes, the antichrist is hidden in plain sight, and if you think all Catholics are condemned then you just took the bait imo.

ah, ty, but i have found the antichrist, and it isn't the RCC, imo, but a spirit. The antichrist is hidden in plainer sight than even that, iow. Organizations of men are by definition formed to accomplish an agenda, who have decided a way that seems right to them. I notice the Pope eats pretty high on the hog, and all the Catholics i know get rain on their fields, too, so while i understand your motivation, with all due respect my guess is that your church is locked, right now, and no one is there, and the RCC church is open right now, and will feed you if you are hungry, without asking you what religion you are, or making you sit through a sermon or anything. So i guess the fruit is different, depending upon the experience; is yours a personal experience, or is it gained from a book iow, so to speak.

Not denying that the church has not had its issues, don't get me wrong, but imo it becomes about where one's focus is. I can "peer in" to bad news at 6pm every day, if i want. Catholics are just people, like everyone else. It is a false dichotomy to condemn all Catholics, and all of Catholicism; it suggests that God is not doing a very good job, and needs our help to drag people from paganism to monotheism? What better vehicle than the RCC? I would just be careful that you don't find yourself fighting God there wadr.
