Mr. Biden,
You are not going to bring an end to the deep-seated disunity in America, in the course of 4-8 years apart from forcing unity on the people.
How do you propose to do that?
It bodes of a culture prophesied by Orwellian literature.
The very concept that you might try to change the ideologies of Americans makes you an antichrist figure from my point of view.
Indeed we are already far down the path towards a quazi Totalitarian Orwellian Police State - and the canaries in the coal mine have been chirping for some time.
I agree Blue has taken Utilitarian Justification for Law to new heights of late .. so extreme to the left they have gone that "Micheal Moore" is now demonized as a raging righty ..
The party of Peace are now the Neocons - was shameful what they did to Tulsi Gabbard .. as was Obama's policy in Syria.
Speaking of Orwellian "Syria" 10 years after 911 - fighting the war on terror against Al Qaeda - supposedly - and all of a sudden we are allied with Al Qaeda and others of the Same Saudi Inspired Islamist extremist ideology - in Syria - calling them "Moderate Rebels"
The moderates were fighting for Assad - fighting to keep their freedoms and essential liberty - of which Syria was a shining star relative to the other significant ME Muslim Nations.
The Islamist rebels wanted to turn Syria into a Strict Sharia Islamic State - the protest movements were moderate and peaceful in the beginning .. but then the extremists took over and were telling Christians to either join the protest movement or leave the country - armed gangs of Salafi insurgents going around towns -harassing and sometimes killing Christians.
We then led a massive effort - involving a coalition 20 or more nations - to arm - support - and supply Al Qaeda and the other Islamist extremists. Note the term "Islamist" as opposed to "Islamic" .. big difference .. Islamists are the ones that want sharia - the militant extremists.
That said - back to Utilitarianism - Red has been hand in hand with blue in many instances in using this evil ideology .. so it is a combined effort.
Utilitarianism is justification for law on the basis of what will increase happiness for the collective... these arguments sound good on the surface .. but the problem is that they completely ignore the liberty of the individual.. not even considered.. and this is an anathema to the founding principles which were founded on the teachings of the Divine Logos.
So these arguments allow for and end run around the constitution - thus increasing Gov't power to near - unlimited - the safeguards put in place by the founders to protect essential liberty demolished..
Power corrupts and more power corrupts more..
So what is a utilitarian argument .. "If it saves one live" / "Harm Reduction" - as justification for law.
As you can see it sounds good on the surface .. "who doesn't want to save one life" - and you will be battered with "Don't you, Don't you" ? and so politicians love such arguments .. presenting themselves as caring -- wolves in sheeps clothing.
If such justification for law is valid "if it saves one life" - should we not ban skiing tomorrow ? would this not save one life ?
How about boating .. that is really dangerous - one could drown (my goodness) .. Driving a Car ? forget it .. one of the most dangerous things you can do.
In fact - one should probably not rise from bed in the morning as one might fall and break neck .. did you not realize that the risk of harm from terrorism in this nation is 400 times less than the risk of harm from "Walking" .. so we better not do that.
Anything can be justified - and often the Utilitarian arguments put forward are not even good Utilitarian arguments - fallacious Utilitarianism.
In a free nation the individual has the freedom to risk a a reasonable amount of harm to themselves.. "Sky Diving" for example :)
