The original name for Christianity was “The Way”…..why?
The original Gospel message was given to a simple people. It was clear and it was simple. The Way to life, the Way to heaven.
God the Father and God the Son had a plan that would require Christ to go through the Passion. A very horrible thing, so you can bet that this plan would have a very high success rate.

To be saved
Believe that Yeshua is God and Savior.
Repent of your sins and commit to live by the Commandments of Christ.
Be Baptized.
Participate in communion.

From there the application is simple, live by the Commandments and examples set by Christ.
Love God
Love one another.
Live by the Golden Rule.
Be Good and Do Good.
Praise the Lord frequently.

If we had a 3X5 card we would still have room to add a few things….
Like…know enough to explain the Gospel of Salvation.
Fellowship with Christians and sing praises to the Lord. It don’t have to be in a church…
Be aware that you are what you do. Christians are the candle and the salt of Christ. What we do is a reflection of Christ and the Church. Be a good example to others.

It depends if you want to believe what you want or you preach the Bible...If it is the Bible that you are interested in...then just preach the Bible....again there is not the legalist section in the Bible. The term standard does not apply to the Bible. There are morals to live by and sins to die by. Overall the Bible as far as salvation, morals, and sins are not that complicated. It is when you go to the Bible with beliefs that you want to superimpose on the Bible....then things go south.
I can teach the bible without giving people a list of works they need to do.

I went through this legalistic teaching as a youth. And it did not work. for anyone.. Once I realized we just teach love God and others. Works flowed from me with out even thinking of it,.

You are confusing the things that a Christian “ SHOULD” do with the things that a Christian “ MUST” do......Its easy to get mixed up in one's Thinking about our Faith because the One Thing That is Required to be a Christian is to have God's Holy Spirit “WITHIN” You! With “ that” being a reality, You are Saved and Sealed forever, because if you “ DONT ” have that Spirit in you—- “ You are NONE of His.....Many times the things on your list “ do” occur in the lives of the Saved ...Hence, the Confusion....

Given enough time, that Indwelling Spirit is going to Transform you from the inside out and you will “ Find Yourself” wanting to do the many things that will please God....many of those things are on this list . A problem arises when confused , poorly taught Believers start ADDING these things to the simple Gospel that Saves ( Believing That Jesus died for your sins and rose from the Grave ...1Cor 15:1-4 )

When one goes beyond Paul’s Gospel ( Given to Him by Jesus) and makes up lists like this , insisting that these things MUST be done to either GET or STAY Saved.....THAT is when the cross the line into Legalism.....it is the very definition of “ Falling From Grace”....That can mean everything from either living out a Beggarly , Insecure, Joyless Walk of Faith Lord or it “could” mean that you are Damned—- the Jury is out on that one....There are Extremely Gifted Teachers Of The Word That can argue either side.....

Either outcome from Adding to the Gospel Of Grace is bad. Why Gamble ? The only “ MUST” that comes to my mind is this: “ What “ MUST I do to be Saved? “ .....we All know the Biblical answered to that, don’t we ? “BELIEVE on the LORD Jesus Christ and thou shalt be Saved”

A wise man, as far as Salvation is concerned, will leave it at that....that is enough to get the Holy Spirit “ in” you, and if you do that, God has promised to “ Save you to the UTTERMOST “ —— anything on this well- intentioned, But Confused List , Or Anything On any other of the Countless lists out there dreamed up by “ Weak Believers” can be great things that we SHOULD do and given time, we WILL do —- most likely. Just remember , don’t confuse “MUST” with “ Should”..... you could be treading on very Dangerous ground....

INSISTING that these things be done to get you Saved or Keep you Saved will qualify you as one who preaches a “False and Perverted” Gospel —- Paul’s Words ....not mine.....And what does Paul have to say about these Types? They are “ Accursed”..... a Polite way to say that they are “God- Damned!” ( Gal1:8 )

You May be Well- Intentioned—- (Men “always” want to “ DO” something to “ help out” God) —— But God won’t have it—— When you go beyond “ Nothing But The Blood” for the FREE GIFT Of Salvation.....Nothing “ Good” will come of it......and possibly something VERY bad .....

I disagree with a lot of this. And the problem is basically your nature. Your own nature prevents you from understanding the scriptures. Sad.

Your desire to twist what people say is the same nature that you apply to biblical understanding. You are going to twist the scriptures.

For example my example of what you need to do to be saved is....
From there the application is simple, live by the Commandments and examples set by Christ.
Love God
Love one another.
Live by the Golden Rule.
Be Good and Do Good.
Praise the Lord frequently.
This is biblical...now if you personally do not want to do things, like repent, or be baptized or participate in communion...by all means don't and send us a postcard on how it turned out for you. If you tell others not to or cast doubt on the process, then you preaching against Christ and the Apostles....and you know the curse involved with that.

As far as the application of Christianity....

I never said that this is required to be saved or stay saved.
This all happens after you are saved.
So what you keep saying about what other people say is a lie.
Christ and the Apostles also said that good morals and good deeds are also important. And this seems to be the issue with you, you are emphatically against anything good.
A wise man, as far as Salvation is concerned, will leave it at that.

As far as the Indwelling of the Spirit Holy Spirit, that is part of the process. Now people believe differently when you are indwelled with the Holy Spirit.
But Peter said in Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Please note there is no "if" or "sometimes" in that verse.
So it is part of the process.

And a wise man does what they are told by Christ and the Apostles. Why do you call me Lord Lord and not do what I say.

Well......you never exactly said that you don’t “ HAVE “ to do these things, now did you?...As your posts stands, I am certain that I am not the “ ONLY” one that took it the way that I did....”

Would you be nice enough to kinda “ narrow down” your check -list so we can ascertain just exactly what one MUST be done to get and stay Saved as opposed to the things that are “ good” but not Mandantory.....Heaven forbid a Reprobate like me would do a single thing he did not “have” to do because of a faulty checklist !

If you are sincere about the statement of yours that I chose to quote—- if you are NOT teaching that all or part of these things MUST be done to be Saved or Stay Saved.....we don’t have a problem.....I hope that is the case....

you never exactly said that you don’t “ HAVE “ to do these things, now did you?

I don't know if you have something running in your head or what. I put them in two categories what you needed to do to be saved and applications. But the fact of the matter is I have rarely ran into a Christian that believed that doing good deeds or good works had anything to do with being saved. And on this form I do not recall anyone saying that you have to do good deeds to be saved. But you keep insinuating that people are saying that. Of course you cannot count the Catholics....

This you need to stop because it is a false accusation and I will call you on it every time.

To be saved
Believe that Yeshua is God and Savior.
Repent of your sins and commit to live by the Commandments of Christ.
Be Baptized.
Participate in communion.

This is what the Bible says to do....this is absolute..
Now, there can be a debate as to, at what point of this process are you actually saved? Or if you die before doing what your told, what happens?
The fact is, we do not know....the Bible does not break it down. I have my beliefs and they are that if you die before completing the process, Christ knows your heart and will make it right. As far as the question...At what point are we saved? Again the Bible does not break it down. I believe that the totality of being saved requires all of the above....totality...for example; Lets say some one will not participate in communion. Christ said that if you do not...there is no life in you. And if you do You abide in Christ and He will raise you up on the last day.

So then the question is; As a saved person, if you have no life in you, you do not abide in Christ, and He does raise you on the last day....where does that leave you? Again the Bible does not elaborate. And the reason that the Bible does not elaborate on repentance, baptism and communion is that you are suppose to do what you are told to do. If you willfully do not, you suffer the consequences. Whatever those may be.

God is the Savior. He sent Jesus Christ to that effect.

The word salvation appears 41 times in the New Testament....do you have a favorite?
So what?

The truth remains.

God is the Savior. He sent Jesus Christ to that effect.

Man is the one being saved. He is not the savior of himself.

Your point?
My point was clear in my post.

God is the Savior. Man is the one being saved. He is not the savior of himself.

Do you agree with that or not?

Here’s another question.

What is the reason man need a savior?

So, I ask you in this new thread: what do you believe about the new version of OSAS?

The version that says that if you stop believing, you even continue to be saved?
I have seen people take so many different paths, twists and turns, as they learn how God works in our lives, that I don't think I could judge by where people are in their spiritual process of growth and walking with God.

The passage that comes to mind is Matthew 13, where some seeds fall by the path, others on rocky ground, and some in fertile soil. The people who say they lost their faith, by the time they get it back, they are ablevto teach others going through similar. CS Lewis lost his faith after his wife died, and even wrote under a pseudonym from the viewpoint of rejecting and blaming and not having good faith at that point. This was a stage of grieving and maybe denial that is still part of growing in faith.

If we continue to pray for one another, then even if a person questions or denies faith while comparing and learning things from a different angle, we can still "work through our salvation" and still come back and reconcile in Christ. All paths are different, and the point is to learn from these experiences.

Of course, if you find some of these things difficult to do.....don't sweat it! Just “ Act” like you do them ....that will please God—— Nothing He likes better than seeing people “Ape” all of the behaviors that come NATURALLY to those that TRUST to be Saved as opposed to those that TRY to be Saved.......

Here is something you left off your little list.....don’t you know that we are to “ pray without ceasing? “
Allow me to explain the difference between “ religious -based Lists and “ Christianity”....

The Religious Man ( most likely lost ) has noticed this verse and puts it on “ his” list of things he must do and he does his best to “ try” to fulfill that verse...People like those “ monks “ that get up at 3 a.m. and pretend to pray for five hours straight.....thinking they are impressing God with their “ sacrifice” and “ holiness”.....Hog Wash!” You think their minds don’t wander all over the place and that could get an actual “ meaningful” prayer off in Five minutes —- or less! It’s all for show, in a stupid, confused attempt to “ look good” .....staying on their knees , and secretly looking up to see how much God is pleased with their “ piety”......what a joke!

An Unreligious man, like myself , simply Rests in the Gospel Of Grace.....because of that, God put His Spirit in me and without ANY Discipline on my part , once I became a “ New Creation” , I “ Found Myself” praying all of the time that I am Conscience —— from the time I get up until the time I go to bed.Never anything fancy.....never anything that sounds “ pious”.....if my big toe causes me pain , my prayer could be —- “ Hey God — it’s the toe!”

For the “ dim- bulbs” out there who already have a knot in their panties....let it be known that that was a bit of an exaggeration—-done to make a point. Here is the point : throughout my entire day, I seem to always have a running conversation with God....it’s like “ help me here”.... or “ be with me here” or “ thank you for this” or “please open the heart of this Lost Man or Woman” or “ let me add this person to my ‘prayer list’ , so that you will bless them with the help that they need at this time”

THIS is what is meant by “ praying without ceasing” .....it is something done all of the time.... it is something done sincerely....it is done expecting results ( “ you don’t receive anything because you don’t ASK for it” says James) and it is NEVER done for show — trying to “ Impress” God because you are doing it....Praying in this manner— the CORRECT manner—- is a GIFT, a Fruit Of The Spirit....I never knew anything about it and I never asked for it....it just kinda came along with the rest of my “ Salvation Package” .....That “ package” arrived when I abandoned “ religion” , so aptly illustrated by the time- wasting religious Monks and all Of their religious ILK ( phony religion takes so many forms) , and instead of that Worthless “ trying” , I learned how to become UNreligious and start” trusting” ......

If you have your little list of “do do this and don’t do that” in order to Get or Stay Saved , take my advice....rip it to shreds—— there are no “ check-lists” in Christianity . Those are for the the phony Religionists......simply “ Aping” the things that God will put in your Heart naturally.....IF and ONLY if you will Trust Him.....Are you “Trying” to be Saved or “ Trusting” to be Saved...you had best figure out the difference— that “ difference” is Religion vs.Christianity....that “ difference” is Heaven vs. Hell .....Serious stuff......God bless...
