But even the Lord says ..............CURSED is the man whose hope and trust is in man .
That is what the LORD says . We can have no hope in this world , in its men and in its govts or etc .
HOPE IN GOD . CLING TO CHRIST .
I said, "Lord, you are all I need." The Lord said, "But even the Lord says..." :)

Unfortunately, yes. There's a saying, "Salvation is a free gift, but it will "cost" you everything you have. In that one, with time, becomes willing to lose everything they hold dear. And allowing the Lord to decide what stays and what goes.
As a follower of Jesus, I would tell you that I wouldn't trade what I have for anything, and also that, at least for me, it has been hard.
There are mountain-top experiences, and there are valleys. Scripture advises one to consider these things before moving forward into them. But the beautiful thing is that we don't have to do it alone. The Holy Spirit is promised to be with us, and there are other Christians.
This is the verse of the day at Biblegateway.com. I saw it and thought of this thread.

Isaiah 48:17 KJV
17) Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

They post in the NIV, which I'll include just this once . . .

"This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go."

Much love!

I've had Hepatitis C. genotype 1 for 46 years with no treatment.
And I'm supposed to be afraid of this virus, which my doctor and I both suspect I've had, perhaps twice?
I died in emergency after they failed to revive me; I saw Jesus and then my heart started beating again.
They said, "Call in the family, the odds are even he won't make it through the night." I was in septic shock one night during 1993.
These are just some of my experiences.
The Lord is my light and salvation...of whom shall I be afraid?
The Lord is my strength and my power...He will never leave me! Hallelujah!
What can man do to me? Only what the Master of the Universe says he can, that's what!
March on , truman , march on in the glorious LORD . GOD IS IN TOTAL CONTROL .
And no matter what HE allows to come against us , IT shall work good to the lambs .
They can keep their false hope vaccine . The lambs HAVE THE LORD .

I will run with the swift
I will soar with the eagles
I will march with the strong
I will walk with my Jesus
All the days of my life
I will fight the good fight
Till my Savior returns
I will lay down my life!
I can do all things in Messiah who strengthens me!

All you have to do is step out of line, break a commandment, or knowingly sin and they have a legal right (express permission from the Almighty) to torment you - at least for a time. It is how He disciplines His own.
I don't think that is true.

It's not about what we do, it's about what God knows is good for us.

Thank God! I have not suffered all the consequences of my misdeeds!
Oh, it's actually very true. But probably not for everybody at every stage of their life.

I don't think it works that way for us during our wilder years before we commit to our faith and actively begin seeking God in His Word, etc. But once that begins, you better believe it's about what you do.

There are lots of testimonies of pastors who had their ministries stripped away from them for growing too confident and choosing to live loosely with alcohol and/or drugs leading to the loss of their jobs in a big church and the loss of their careers. God doesn't mess around with those who are sincerely seeking Him with all their heart. He is always watching them, protecting them AND disciplining them to raise them up the way HE wills they be raised. And teaching them about the spiritual realm and its dangers and consequences is just one of the ways He does that.

A little shocked that you would claim it's not about what we do. Really?

If it's not about what we do, how are we any different than the unbelieving world?

Belief in God is not enough to be sanctified and protected and receive salvation. Even the demons believe and tremble.

Nothing is worth this garbage. None of your God's are worth it for me to put up with the human condition. I just have to give up on people altogether, you're not worth the pain.

If you're going to separate yourself from people, you might as well be a devout Christian. ;)

Embrace God and the Bible - the only reliable foundation in this long-fallen world.

If it wasn't for God, I'd join you.

Why do you want me to be a devout Christian? Huh?
