Ok @Behold, @Christophany @amigo de christo and @Keturah let's learn more about our lord and savior shall we. About a role that many do not want to admit he performed as it does not make him sound or look like an equal of god or god himself. Oh well we must face the truth IN scripture and we should not create axioms and arguments based on thin air and wrote memorized false statements about the Son of God., as I see more of it on this thread now. It gives the Father and the Son a very bad name and false identities. God is not mocked, indeed.
It was a very crucial role that Jesus performed, and without it we would still be in our sin(s)!
Jesus was and is the Son of God, and his Father God also anointed him as his Messiah, and he was also called a prophet that may surprise some, even many.
(Luk 24:19) "What do you mean?" Jesus asked. They answered: Those things that happened to Jesus from Nazareth. By what he did and said he showed that he was a powerful prophet, who pleased God and all the people. (CEV)
It says that Jesus was a powerful prophet, and by strong implication, served his God by speaking and doing God's own word(s) or he obeyed his commands. And of course the verse also is saying Jesus is not God!
Even when God spoke to Moses he called Jesus his prophet.
(Deu 18:17) Then the LORD told me: Moses, they have said the right thing.
(Deu 18:18) So when I want to speak to them, I will choose one of them to be a prophet like you. I will give my message to that prophet, who will tell the people exactly what I have said.
(Deu 18:19) Since the message comes from me, anyone who doesn't obey the message will have to answer to me. (CEV)
Now verse 18 in particular says that Jesus will be a prophet as Moses. And the LORD God will give him his word or message(s) and he will tell the people exactly what God tells him. Again, by obvious deduction, Jesus cannot be God.!
Still think that God jumped into a human body?! His word(s) jumped into and became flesh, in a man called Jesus (John 1:14) not that He, God became or could ever become a man. This is crucial in knowing who God is, the Father, and his Son, the man Jesus.
Peter also calls Jesus a prophet. Acts 22-23
(Act 3:22) Moses said, "The Lord your God will choose one of your own people to be a prophet, just as he chose me. Listen to everything he tells you.
(Act 3:23) No one who disobeys that prophet will be one of God's people any longer."
Jesus was CHOSEN by God to be his prophet. Again, by obvious deduction, Jesus cannot be God.!
And Jesus never corrected the woman at the well when she said to Jesus:
(Joh 4:19) The woman said, "Sir, I can see that you are a prophet. (CEV)
Again, by obvious deduction, Jesus cannot be God.!
Even the crowds called Jesus a prophets
(Mat 21:11) The crowd answered, "This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee."
(Luk 7:16) Everyone was frightened and praised God. They said, "A great prophet is here with us! God has come to his people."
Again, by obvious deduction, Jesus cannot be God.! And notice that the people said God has come to his people recognizing that the prophet Jesus represented his Father, God, as all prophets did the same before him.
Jesus even called himself a prophet when he said ......
(Mat 13:57) So the people were very unhappy because of what he was doing. But Jesus said, "Prophets are honored by everyone, except the people of their hometown and their own family." (CEV)
(Luk 13:31) At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said, "You had better get away from here! Herod wants to kill you."
(Luk 13:32) Jesus said to them: Go tell that fox, "I am going to force out demons and heal people today and tomorrow, and three days later I'll be through."
(Luk 13:33) But I am going on my way today and tomorrow and the next day. After all, Jerusalem is the place where prophets are killed. (CEV)
Jesus spoke of his critical role as a prophet.
So, The word in John Chapter 1 is not a person, it is the Father God's personal attribute that represents his thoughts, expressions, and words that created everything, including his son. And Jesus possessed these words perfectly, as he spoke as God his Father and performed miracles as his Father, although through his Father's word and power of his spirit that was upon him.
A prophet speaks God's words that is why John says that the word (of Father God) became flesh. It is not so mysterious is it?
Now Jesus as a prophet and Messiah was the greatest of them all as he became the perfect image of his Father and obeyed all his words and spoke to them all, and performed miracles by the power of his father, to his death on the Cross.
His role and perfect execution as the Son and prophet of God made him our savior today..amen!
