Cain spoke to the LORD in Genesis 4:

14 "Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”
Cain was afraid of his own relatives: brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, etc. They might attempt revenge killing.

See Where did Cain's wife come from?.

Although Cain was religious, and worshipped God; he wasn't what we might
call a man of faith. (Heb 11:4)

When Adam tasted the forbidden fruit, the human intuition became that of a
tin deity, viz: sovereign (Gen 3:22). So I think it's reasonably safe to posit
that Cain did not believe Adam's cell was the only one in existence because
his common sense strongly urged him to doubt it; sort of like some folks
these days are urged by their common sense to doubt we are utterly alone
in the cosmos; especially when the so-called Drake Equation logically suggests
the opposite.
