You can put lipstick on a pig, its still a pig. A person can identify as anything they choose but when its contrary to the gospel then it should be called out. Think of Paul and the church at galatia.

Test your reading comprehension. I said it does not use the phrase "Roman Catholic Church." Is that really hard to understand? Shake your head really hard and try to let that sink in. The pages say at the top, "Catechism of the Catholic Church." How could you miss that? From your own ccc "1059 "The holy Roman Church firmly believes and confesses...."
It doesn't even call itself catholic, but roman! Roman church, roman pontiff....You were saying?
You do like to try boss people around, don't you? No one is as bright as you. Then they should actually put that in the RULES Terms of Service and Rules | Christian Forums @ Christianity Board
Wonderful. This tells me all I need to know. End of this discussion.
I'm only repeating what we all agreed to when we joined. You can put lipstick on a pig, its still a pig. A person can identify as anything they choose but when its contrary to the gospel then it should be called out. Think of Paul and the church at galatia.
When you are prohibited from calling out false doctrine just because someone 'identifies' as a christian then this is a watering down of the faith. We are called to expose such teachings not embrace them. I do believe ive read that before, oh ya its my tagline...Eph 5:11I'm only repeating what we all agreed to when we joined.
Honor it or not, it's up to each of us.
Much love!

[*]Do not state or imply that another member or group of members who have identified themselves as Christian are not Christians.
Apparently you can call them a cult but cannot say they are not Christian....Which in that case, Catholicism is a cult.So.... just so I'm clear - if a Mormon or JW, for example, "identify" as a Christian (which they do) - we're not to call that out based on this 'rule'?
Does this board stand firm on the Word or not?

He'd probably get dinged.Sad, isn't it?
For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ....2 Cor 11
Hmmm wonder what Paul would say about it?

There are Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses on this forum, and their right to call themselves Christian is protected.So.... just so I'm clear - if a Mormon or JW, for example, "identify" as a Christian (which they do) - we're not to call that out based on this 'rule'?

But i didn't say that. If we compare doctrines and dogmas from a biblical perspective, someone is right and someone is wrong. A mormon can call themselves christian all day long but then the debate should be allowed to progress to the next level which is the 'show me' part of the discussion. People that want to claim the name of Christ shouldn't be offended to prove it. I am happy to prove my beliefs from scripture. Why are others so offended? Standing up for the gospel on a christian board should be a no brainer.Again, I'm only repeating the agreement we made with the site owner.
Here's the thing. When you say, for instance, that "Catholics aren't Christians", then you are violating policy towards anyone who is Catholic. But you need not worry about that, it's easy to not do, by simply calling attention to doctrines that are unscriptural, but without the overgeneralization to say that no Catholic can be a Christian.
There are some on this site I believe to be deceivers, deceived and deceiving others. By my agreement with the site owner, I don't question their right to call themselves Christian. I've ask at times why people Do call themselves Christian, because sometimes, I can't understand it. Like in the case of someone who says, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Animists, whomever, it's all the same God, and I become curious, why then do you pick Christianity to identify with, since it denies the true of all those false god systems.
I can point to what I believe to be false, and that is sufficient.
Much love!
I can say the sky is green but it doesn't make it true. There are Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses on this forum, and their right to call themselves Christian is protected.
The problem is when "standing up for the Gospel" becomes an excuse to violate the second Great Commandment. Rather we are to honor BOTH Great Commandments. But i didn't say that. That commandment to love your neighbor as yourself INCLUDES telling them the truth. The problem is when "standing up for the Gospel" becomes an excuse to violate the second Great Commandment. Rather we are to honor BOTH Great Commandments.
It's important to treat all people respectfully and with kindness, even (arguably especially) when there's disagreements about believes.
Remember:That commandment to love your neighbor as yourself INCLUDES telling them the truth.
Not telling them the truth is the exact opposite of love.
Again, not telling them the truth is not love.Remember:
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
(1 Cor 13)
But the HOW any telling is done is critical.Again, not telling them the truth is not love.
Never said it was. But to barr people from telling someone that their faith is not actually Christian is not love. I can point out your errors and tell you that you are not actually a Christian in love. But people like you also take this idea of "always love" and twist it to being soft on doctrine and that is equally as wrong. But the HOW any telling is done is critical.
Too often people use the "defending the Gospel" as an excuse to be prideful, discard charity, attack others, treating people as objects, etc. That is not God's way. That is a tinkling cymbal.
Note: I'm not Catholic.Never said it was. But to barr people from telling someone that their faith is not actually Christian is not love.
