Parham, Charles F. (1873–1929). The founder of American *Pentecostalism, Parham began ministry with the Methodist Episcopal Church and soon embraced holiness doctrine and became a revivalist. Parham founded the Bethel Bible School in Topeka, Kansas, where on January 1, 1901, his student Agnes Ozman both spoke in tongues and affirmed that that gift was the key indicator of baptism in the Holy Spirit. In 1905 Parham moved his school to Houston, Texas, from where Pentecostalism spread to Los Angeles in the preaching of William J. *Seymour, leader of the highly influential *Azusa Street revival. Parham’s influence ebbed following charges of sexual misconduct and his vocal advocacy of “British Israelism.“

Praise God that he uses even the most feeble and imperfect beings to bring about the revelation of God to the people.

If we all waited until we were perfect, nothing at all would happen.

The revelation of God?
Don't tell Dave this but did you know that you are out of the will of God if you don't wear a long white dress and a beard and long hair?

All the pictures of Jesus show him so attired so it must be what he wants everyone else to do.

Oneness: Numerous books, pamphlets, and essays that tell the story of Pentecostalism in America summarize quite well the particular and peculiar story of Oneness. Though the “New Issue” of the early 1900s has become a rather old issue, long since dismissed as being heretical within Assembly of God ranks, it is still an extant movement in the rich variety of American religious experience. The largest and most influential Oneness group continues to be the UPCI.

Because Oneness rejects the traditional Christian doctrine of the Trinity and invests the »sacrament of baptism with a theology unlike any believed, taught, or confessed within the ranks of orthodoxy throughout the centuries, it must in the last instance be regarded as being a heretical sect by those Christian churches that uphold the ecumenical creeds. As has already been shown, however, its anti-Trinitarianism is not an expression of bias against the deity of Christ. Ironically, the opposite is true. For this reason, some Oneness advocates are more willing to acknowledge Trinitarians as being true Christians than are most Trinitarians willing to return the favor.

We must be patient with Dave because he labors under a heavy weight of conviction to seek the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Soon he will be slain in the Spirit and babbing gibberish until his DEAU-U-UD spirituality is brought to life!:)

Dave L: [Parham] "Sexual misconduct?"

We should rip the Psalms of David out of our Old Testament because David was a murderer and an adulterer!

Dave, if you want posters to take your vile screed seriously, demonstrate at least a token effort to consider the posted competent documentary on the Azusa Street Revival. There you will learn, for example, facts like these 6:
(1) The Martin Luther of the modern Pentecostal movement is William Symour, not Charles Parham.
(2) When Seymour took classes at Parham's Bible School, racism forced him to sit outside in the hall rather than with the other students. In fact, Seymour was not even allowed to kneel with other students in prayer.
(3) Seymour and his small band of Black prayer warriors spent many hours a day in fasting and prayer for God's guidance in prayer vigils that God used to spark that great revival. He is a great American saint.
(4) The Azusa meetings took up no offering and had no formal structure. When attendees spoke in the flesh, they were gentily rebuked and corrected by Seymour's no-nonsense exercise of the gift of discernment.
(5) Seymour instructed those baptized in the Holy Spirit to go out and witness to the Gospel rather than talk about speaking in tongues.
(6) All true revivals are targets of Satanic counterfeit spirituality. The Azusa Street Revival led to 600 million Pentecostal and Charimsatic converts (one quarter of the world's Christians!). So, though initially localized in LA, it is the most influential mass move of God of all time.

No, it is dingdong propaganda from Hallelujah College! You will do practically anything to avoid toe hard work of hones critical assessment. But you're terrified of watching the more factual documentary I posted, aren't you? You're afraid you'll lose control and be convicted of your blasphemy against the Holy Spirit! Watch the video and let's discuss it!

OK, so I can't expect you to exercise the same critical acumen as the Pentecostal leaders to whom you have been exposed. But you have no excuse other than bigotry and a mind closed to the truth to avoid watching the posted documentary. To restore your devastated credibility watch it and discuss it with me--and then I'll watch any video you wish.

THE 2 BEST VIDEOS ON THE AZUSA STREET REVIVAL, INCLING EYEWITNESS TESTIMONY
[so inspiring that they are both far too threatening for a biased axe-grinder like Dave to watch!]

The Welsh Revival of 1904-05 soon spread in 1906-08 to Azusa Street in Los Angeles, the place where global Pentecostalism was birthed--a revival that has led to 600 million converts. The spearhead of the revival is the most spiritually effective African American of all time, William Seymour; and yet, due to racism, most modern Christians have never heard of him, including myself in all the time I attended a large Canadian Pentecostal church! If you hunger for more of God and want to learn from one of the most effective prayer warriors ever, then you need to watch this excellent documentary and understand the astounding event that triggered a tidal wave resulting in 1/4 of the world's Christians being Pentecostal or Charismatic:

The initial phase of this revival flourished among Black seekers. Here is a testimony of the only known survivors who experiences miracles at Azusa Street:

The first congregation to carry the name Pentecostal Holiness Church was formed in Goldsboro, North Carolina in 1898. This church was founded as a result of the evangelistic ministry of Abner Blackmon Crumpler, a Methodist evangelist
