NO! Not more or less, -- MORE!

While hanging on the cross he asked John to care for his mother. And Scripture DEMANDS that we care: #1 for our spouse; #2 for our children. And after they are taken care of, then family, and then neighbors.

Many pastors make your mistake and the wife is frustrated, and the children rebellious.
Bobby Jo

Mother of the living in Christ and the new creation!

Genesis 3:20
And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

John 19:26-27
When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

Jesus is not just asking John to care for His mother, if so He would have said so.

Jesus is in the very least making Mary John’s spiritual mother! And if the apostle John needs a spiritual mother so do we!
What is the family of God without a mother? The mother is the heart of the family! Jesus said I will not leave you orphans! Jn 14:18 He proved Mary the mother of one disciple then He does so for all disciples!

As eve was the mother of all the living in the first creation, gen 3:20 so Mary is the mother of all those who live in Christ and the new creation!

Rev 12:17 our spiritual mother!

All graces come thru Her that’s why Her spiritual children keep the commandments and testimony of Jesus in faithful obedience cos She is the means of graces we receive by the merits of Jesus!

how do you give the keys (authority) and the bind and loose (power) to a confession, a person Peter and His successors with the apostles and their successors who are in Union with Peter!

Matt 10:2
First apostle Peter:

Matt 17:27
Jesus and Peter are one:
Jesus even works a miracle to make this point. 27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

Mt 16:18 Peter received the keys of the kingdom: and the power to bind and loose:

Mt 17:27
Peter commanded to confirm his breathren:

Lk 22:32
Jesus prays for Peter:

Jn 21:17
Peter commanded to Feed my sheep:

Peter is the prince of the apostles, head of the universal church on earth!

Jn 20:21-23
Peter and the apostles receive the Holy Spirit and the power to forgive sins:

Acts 1:15 1:17 1:26
Peter declares Judas office of apostle valid and vacant and chooses a successor:

Acts 2:14
Peter preaches the first sermon on Pentecost:

Acts 2:38
Peter requires baptism as the outward sign and initiation into the new covenant!

Peter is appointed to administer the kingdom!

These apostles are dead. Get over it. Now what? Did the church that Jesus Christ founded support the funding of abortion, accept homosexuality, deliberately sexually abuse children, buy pricey property with money meant for the poor, worship wooden idols, build brothels, extortion of those who are looking for heaven, supporting "Dignity Mass". Honors Mary and the Saints, but little in the way of the founder.

This is just a start. I won't mention the digging up of corpses, putting them on trial and then throwing them in the Tiber? How about selling the entire church? Fr. Marcial Maciel who molested both his own children and priests, children. Pope Benedict XVl knew this was going on, and either did or did not tell JPll. Then there is CDL Sodana who actively tried to keep these actions quiet.

Jesus Christ the founder of his church knows nothing of this evil.

No, I want nothing to do with that.

There are two pastors at my church. Pastor Jeff Durbin and Pastor James White. We use the Elder model that Paul supported.

Jesus entrusted his mother to John's care from the cross because she had no other children

Catholics often appeal to yesterday’s reading from John 19 for biblical support of the perpetual virginity of Mary.

There are two ways that Protestant apologistscounter this argument.

One is that Jesus didn’t entrust Mary into the care of his brothers because they were unbelievers at the time of the crucifixion, and wouldn’t become believers until after the resurrection. A supporting text for this is John 7:5, where John tells us, “his brethren did not believe in him.” It’s argued that John as a believer would have been closer to Mary than Jesus’ unbelieving brothers.

Our first response is that this counter assumesJesus’ brothers weren’t believers at the time of the crucifixion. But that’s not entirely clear.

John 7:5 tells us that Jesus’ brothers didn’t believe in him at the time of the Feast of Tabernacles, which was quite a bit prior to the crucifixion. And there’s nothing in the New Testament that tells us they became believers after the resurrection. The New Testament portrays them as believers after the resurrection, but that doesn’t mean that’s the time when they became believers.

When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. (John 19:26-27)

If the “brothers of the Lord” (Matt. 13:55) were Mary’s biological children, so the Catholic argument goes, Jesus wouldn’t have entrusted Mary into John’s care. The duty to care for Mary would have belonged to Jesus’ brothers. But since Jesus entrusts Mary into John’s care, it follows that Jesus’ “brothers” were not Mary’s biological children.

Hail Mary! Full of Grace!
Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
And blessed is the fruit
Of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners now,
And at the hour of our death.
Amen

I've read it. It has no validity whatsoever. It made up without benefit of scripture. You shouldn't be Hailing ANYONE except for Jesus Christ. Anything else is idolatry.

What is the Hail Mary that Catholics say so often?
audio.png

Question: "What is the Hail Mary that Catholics say so often?"

Answer:
The “Hail Mary,” Ave Maria in Latin, is a Roman Catholic prayer to the Virgin Mary that consists of salutations and a plea for her intercession. Also, the term "Hail Mary pass" was used by the press to describe a pass by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach in a 1975 divisional playoff game and has come to be synonymous in football with a long pass that has little chance of success. The text of the Hail Mary prayer incorporates two Bible passages: “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee" (Luke 1:28) and “Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb" (Luke 1:42). The first passage is the angel Gabriel’s greeting to Mary when he came to inform her that she had been chosen to bear the Messiah. The second is her cousin Elizabeth’s greeting to Mary when Mary came to visit her cousin, who was also pregnant at the time with John the Baptist. The third part of the Hail Mary prayer is not from the Bible and is, in fact, in direct contradiction to Scriptural truth: “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.”

This last part of the Hail Mary prayer has three unbiblical parts to it. First, Mary is not and never was “holy.” Mary was a human being who was born, as all humans are, with a sin nature and who recognized that she needed a Savior. In fact, the very passage used in the Hail Mary, known as Mary’s Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55), contains the declaration “my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,” a clear indication that she understood her need for a Savior from sin. The Bible never says that Mary was anyone but an ordinary human whom God chose to use in an extraordinary way. Yes, Mary was a righteous woman and favored (graced) by God (Luke 1:27-28). At the same time, Mary was a sinful human being who needed Jesus Christ as her Savior, just like everyone else (Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 3:23; 6:23; 1 John 1:8).

The second unbiblical part of the Hail Mary is addressing Mary as the “Mother of God.” Mary was the human mother of the human Jesus Christ, who was indeed God incarnate. But she was not the mother of God, neither is she the ”queen of heaven,” another title given to her by the Catholic Church which has no basis in Scripture. God doesn’t have a mother, nor does He have a queen. He is an eternal, infinite Being, uncreated and unborn, self-sufficient and self-sustaining.

The third unbiblical statement in the Hail Mary is the plea for her to “pray for us sinners.” Here we see the unbiblical practice of praying to Mary to intercede with God for us. First, we do not need another intercessor with God. Christ is the only intercessor we need. Through Jesus and Him alone, we have direct access to the Father. Christ alone mediates and intercedes between God and man. “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5). Prayer to anyone other than God alone is anti-biblical. Praying to Mary or petitioning her to pray for us is against the Scriptures. Prayer is an act of worship. When we pray to God, we are admitting that we need His help. Directing our prayers to anyone other than God is robbing God of the glory that is His alone, something God hates and will not tolerate (Isaiah 42:8).

While Mary was certainly a godly young woman greatly blessed in that she was chosen to bear the Savior of the world, she was not in any way divine, nor was she sinless, nor is she to be worshiped, revered, venerated, or prayed to.

Catholic logic is not logic at all. It is a series of half-truths, assumptions, speculation
Jesus entrusted his mother to John's care from the cross because she had no other children

I have taken the time to read this carefully.

Here are the facts: Once again, it is full of half-truths, speculation, guessing, and even obfuscating.

Jesus had brothers. The scripture reports this plain as day.

Mark 6:3

3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.

Matthew 13:55-56

55 Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary? And are not his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? 56 And are not all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?”

Mark 3:31-32

31 And his mother and his brothers came, and standing outside they sent to him and called him. 32 And a crowd was sitting around him, and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers are outside, seeking you.”

Galatians 1:19

19 But I saw none of the other apostles except James the Lord's brother.

Guess what? Jesus had a Devil in His ranks - and HE chose him (John 6:70). Does that mean Jesus is "flawed" - or His Church is flawed?
OR, does it simply means that men within His Church are flawed, sinful people - like the ones in YOUR sect . . .

Really??
Let's test this theory against Scripture and simple linguistics . . .

For starters, there was NO term for the word “cousin” in the Aramaic language that Jesus spoke. When the Old Testament was translated into Greek in the centuries before the birth of Christ (the Septuagint), the words “adelphos” and “adelphoi” were used in places where “ach” was.

In the Septuagint, the normal Greek words for “brother(s) “adelphos” and “adelphoi” were used much more liberally than the normal meaning. Like the Aramaic "Ach" - it was applied to brother of same parents, half-brother (same father), cousins, uncles, nephews, uncles, neighbors, fellow believers and kinsmen alike.

This is why we have many examples in the Septuagint of the following:

In Gen. 14:14, Lot is called Abraham’s "brother", even though he was Abraham’s nephew (Gen. 11:26–28).
In Gen. 29:15, Jacob is referred to as the "brother" of his uncle Laban.
Brothers Kish and Eleazar were the sons of Mahli. Kish had sons of his own, but Eleazar’s daughters married their "brethren”, the sons of Kish - who were actually their cousins (1 Chr. 23:21–22).

It is YOUR position that Mary (Jesus' mother) is also the mother of James and Joses from the following verse:
Mark 6:3
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him. 4 But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

HOWEVER - in the following verses, we read that the mother of James and Joses is ANOTHER woman . . .
Matt. 27:56 says, "…among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee".

Mark 15:40 states, "There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome".

Jesus' mother Mary would NOT have been called "Mary, mother of James and Joses" as she was standing at the foot of the cross of Jesus.
When we read John's account of the story - he differentiates the two:
John 19:25 states, "But standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene".

Ergo - the mother of James and Joses from Mark 6:3, Matt. 27:56 and Mark 15:40 are the SAME Mary - and it is NOT Mary, mother of Jesus.

YOUR turn . . .

YOUR turn . . .

You aren't the first to spin this. That is what is happening. You cannot overcome what the Bible actually says. Like most Catholics (not all) you try to extrapolate, speculate, guess, contemplate anything that will suit your churches faulty teachings.

It won't work. The only thing that works is the Bible.
