Technically speaking, the kayak did not melt. The sum cause the plastic material to soften such that it could no longer hold its moulded shape but rather it deformed to conform with the environment it was left in.

I've been in Australia 5 years, first time I've seen one if these guys, y'all know what it is huh... But it ain't a bear...
