What is this cessationist?

I am just a Christian believer and believe everything in the Bible pertaining to the church age and material age is over with and all things pertain to the spirit now, @Wynona

Cessationism is the belief that the gifts, miracles, and healing were for the Apostolic Age and no longer continue.

@Pearl Yes but he is not sovereign in the man sense. He is far more than we can understand I get that but that doesn’t answer my question that is just a diversion it seems to me friend.

We all might have to just discontinue this chat though we all have differing and conflicting views if that is the case. Each of us are responsible for our own faith and how we worship God in spirit and in truth. The truth is you guys can believe however you are going to and I will just have to disagree with because of my differences in view.

Hope you and your families stay safe out there and that you keep having love for God and love for others even if they may think differently than you, no one is better than the other person. We all live in this world together.

Okay?

@Pearl, thank you for your comment my question would be

Does God favor some over others if that is the case, in your opinion?
I suppose he favours his own children above others as would most fathers. But if you are talking about favouring one 'child' over another, then no he doesn't have favourites. What he does have though is a unique relationship with each one of us. He loves us all but because he knows what's best for us we may feel that he treats us differently from another person. But that happens in ordinary family life. Each child has that slightly different relationship with its father.

I don't get what you mean. He is Sovereign Lord of all. Creator God. King of kings and Lord of lords.

Praise God for the @devin553344. That is a miracle and thankfully he is okay now.

I’m also simply talking about people with disabilities, and malformed genetics.
That is something nobody understands but it definitely not because of sin as some have suggested in the past. What about Joni Ericsson. She was paralysed in a horrific accident but she still didn't blame God, and because of her infirmities he used to her to spread the word.

@Pearl Sovereign Lord doesn’t exist in the Bible it was added into the NIV. That is all I know. If you go look back in the Greek Suptugient or Vulgate or older manuscripts that word doesn’t exist from what I have been told.

Thank you for your honesty. I would agree it doesn’t have to do with sin. The picture and types in the Bible though seem to indicate a spiritually healing from type of sin that a person may be going though.

Like sex addiction, or porn addiction, or drug addiction, or lust, hate, murdering thoughts, lust, covetousness @Pearl

Like the man cutting himself and living in the tombs and howling breaking the chains cuffs around him,

Or the lady with the 12 year blood problem (chasing things of the world for 12 years) when real contentment is found when she attachered herself to Jesus.

Or the Lepor with sores all over him, who is suffering from what I see are, sores, scars, and heart break and Jesus cleans his soul to be sound again by cleaning his soul.

These are the pictures and types that are seen,

@Pearl would you see the same thing to be used application today?

@Wynona I don’t believe that will help in any way shape or form my friend… am thankful for those scriptures but that old material age of things and that church then are done in my view. I don’t really follow whatever a person has to say even if they use the scriptures to try to prove a point in all honesty.

If Scriptures don't really move you, there's really nothing I can say about the topic.

It's not like my views and explanations have more weight than the Scripture.

We come to these crossroads where we disagree but the meat of the matter is that you believe the gospel but seemingly not much else that is also in the Bible.

Don't get me wrong. Believing in the good news of Jesus and His power to save souls is the truth and the most important thing.

But I don't understand the belief that God cannot do what He says. I have trouble understanding a lot of your beliefs because we don't seem to see the Bible the same way.

What do you believe about the Bible?

@MatthewG God doesn't heal a lot of the disabled because he knows they will be healed in the resurrection. But that doesn't mean that he can't. I've searched the internet for healing stories of disabled people. But the search is flooded with the bible accounts so I can't check.

@Wynona

There are people that say God can do anything.

Is that really true?

Can God lie?
Can God favor someone else over another person?
Can God go against his own character?

Does God say he is going to heal everyone now today on earth through people?
Does that really happen now today on earth?
Have you tried to go up to a disabled person and try to heal them by anointing them with oil on their head?

Everything needs to be kept in context and an understanding that we do not live in those time anymore; however if you believe they do I do not judge for it. You’re a grown human being who can think for themselves and make decisions for herself.

my encouragement is not to believe me but think for yourself friend!

With love,
Matthew G.

God uses one sort of infirmity to heal much deeper infirmities, I think.

Much love!

There was one healing that kicked off a mini revival in Wales a few years ago where an man who had been in a wheelchair for years was prayed for and was able to walk. His condition was confirmed by doctors. And many other healings also happened. It was through this outpouring/revival I also received a miraculous healing.

I have earnestly prayed for the healing of someone with schizophrenia. I still am praying for his healing and salvation.

Believe what you want but I did mean everything I said.

I myself have a serious mental disorder and I know it's not something that is supposed to miraculously disappear through faith.

But I pray anyway. Because if God chooses to heal him, that could open doors for him to believe in Jesus as the Savior.

Oh that's wonderful. I always love to hear stories about God working miracles in our lives. So inspirational. Today is a good day for me here because of that. :)

Yes I have mental disorder also. I thought I was healed once because it went into remission while I was on meds. I stopped taking my meds and had a psychotic episode that damaged my psychi. I will never stop taking my meds ever again.

What I learned from that experience is that being close to God and having his holy spirit in my life made my condition improve quite a bit. So now I like to be close to the spirit of God. He relieves my condition, but I still have to take my meds.

My brother recently was in a coma and prayed over. He was not expected to live and he miraculously came back to life. He had died for 15 minutes. He's now talking and up and about somewhat. He's still in the hospital but the doctors can't explain his recovery. It was a miracle.
I had a friend, he's with the Lord now, but he had "multiforme glioblastoma", and this was in the 90's when proton therapy was in it's initial testing stages. There was no treatment. The tumor spread it's fingers throughout his brain.

My friend grew worse, became comatose, and was dying, while his mother kept praying. One day, she was moved to request a new scan, at which time they found no tumor, and woke him back up. He lived for another 15 or 20 years, I forget exactly. He had a very dynamic prayer ministry after his recovery.

ON a simpler scale, I fell down a steep flight of stairs one night, I actually broke a 2" thick wood tread with my hip, my head bounced off about 3 places are so.

The people I was with pulled me out, guided me to a chair, where I sat, sore, stunned, everyone about 10 miles away, in fog. And there was beloved Jim, "Mark, would you like me to pray for you?" Jim is are real prayer warrior. I think he has a permanent gift of faith. YES!!!! I thought I'd be heading for a hospital, or at least have a concussion. He prayed, simple, as he always does, and immediately my head was clear, my pains were gone, and I was ready for our Bible study.

I was left with a bruise on my hip, not bad, enough to remind me for a few days how steep those stairs were, how hard I hit, and how none of that matters after Jim's prayer.

Much love!
