The rapture doctrine is what Paul was referring to with his notice of the delusion. The apostasy or falling away is easy to grasp. It means what it means. There will be a falling away, but not as many understand it. The falling away can, and rightly so, be interpreted as those who cling to this delusion as those who find the truth move forward, while the deluded stay behind. As they move forward those that resist the truth can been seen as falling away or behind.

When the false Christ rises those who rely on the Rapture doctrine will not recognize him for who he really is, because they believe the man of sin cannot appear while they are still here. That is the meaning of the warning that he will deceive many. Paul wasn't talking to the the heathen, he was saying that for our benefit.. He will re-interpret the scriptures and will posture himself as the long awaited coming Messiah,

There is much I can say on this topic

The "strong delusion" Paul was speaking of is about false worship to another in place of our Lord Jesus Christ.

And his point of that Wicked one coming to sit in the temple of God (meaning in Jerusalem) and exalting himself over all that is even called God, or is worshipped, points directly the devil himself doing that. That is... the first sin which Satan did in the time of old when he coveted God's Throne.

So the matter of Paul's 2 Thess.2:3-4 warning is much, much more serious than what many here think.

so in your opinion what happens to those who rely on the rapture doctrine and don't recognize Christ when he returns? do these people who are deluded as you say, go to hell or what? if they don't then what happens to them? if they are not going to hell then are they going to heaven right?

God bless

Where does this belief that the saved people go to heaven come from? The Bible clearly teaches that the Holy city, the new Jerusalem ( heaven ) is coming here. We aren't going to some mystical place called heaven, Heaven is coming here.

The abode known as hell is in... the same dimension of the heavenly. We were shown that in Rev.12 when it says there is no more place in heaven found for Satan and his angelic hosts when they are cast down to this earth in the last days. Even in Luke 16 Christ Jesus showed this.

7angels - EVERYONE will recognize Jesus when He returns to end the Tribulation and to begin the 1000 years of peace without Satan, known as the Millenium.
It's just that not everyone will be glad to see Him come.

You're right pretty much, but we will be in the heavenly, because the resurrection and change to a spiritual body involves the heavenly dimension. The difference is that the heavenly dimension is going to be realized right here, upon this earth.
That is true. I did not want to put more meat on the plate than those who believe in a rapture can eat at one time.

Heaven is the sky with all things visible in it. Heaven is Gods throne and the earth is His footstool. Heaven is here and has always been here.
