The guy claims to be a Pastor but is being as divisive as can be, invoking a naked poisoning the well claim. It goes like this.
  • He cannot lay a glove on me in the debate.
  • So, he resorts to hoping to turn the subject from the reasons FOR the Crusades to something bad about me (or at least, what we may not agree with).
  • if the fallacy is accepted, the poisoned well of me having something bad about me means my argument FOR the Crusades must be bad also.
  • illogical. Divisive.

I didn’t poison the well. It was already poisoned by your not acting like Jesus and the apostles.

I told @NayborBear the truth and posted the evidence. You left him in the dark and haven’t challenged the evidence.

Whether that divides the two of you or not is up to the two of you to decide.

My goal is to persuade others, if not the two of you, to obey the teaching and follow the example of Jesus and the apostles; not to bust you apart.

Upon reading this, I conclude you are my twin brother as if written by me.
Well? Inasmuch as we both seem in striving to remove the "blinders" that Matthais is wearing as to his putting "GOD in a box?"
Yeah? We have the same intent.
May go about it in different ways. As I try in getting him to see a the "larger picture" than Jesus and the Apostles. As Jesus STILL has One He calls Father, and another He calls GOD.
And there's the Whole "Government of the Kingdom of God, and Kingdom of Light" out there with more "MEAT to offer and chew on" which he keeps insisting just doesn't exist!
But, MAINLY my posts are more for those "readers" he says he has (though I've not seen many, if ANY posts from these ones' whom he must think he has many), THAT?.........Well?.........These ones'!:
Hebrews 6:1
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

The way I see it? Is you two are constantly (it seems anyway) at each others throats.
And ME?
Well? I'm arguing against him in my showing there's many more members TO this "body of Christ" that he seems to HAVE and teach they HAVE NO NEED OF!
As far as you and I being twins?
I've not heard enough concerning where you are in the building of your Spiritual House in considering myself a "twin."
Fellow so journer? Maybe?
Brother? Perhaps?
Twin might be a little too "froggy" a conclusion to be jumping to, right now, anyway.

Of course here comes the warmonger’s final gasp: Hitler deserved to be assassinated. Millions of Jews and others would not have been slaughtered.

But appeals to historical events never cancel out the pacifist teachings of Jesus.

Bonhoeffer had many good qualities, but he was deeply confused and conflicted about the problem of evil.

A devoted pacifist, Bonhoeffer ultimately concluded that stopping Hitler's atrocities required action. He used his position in the Abwehr (German military intelligence) to secretly aid in conspiracies to assassinate Hitler and overthrow the Nazi government.

Following the failure of the July 20 Plot to assassinate Hitler, Bonhoeffer’s ties to the conspirators were uncovered. He was executed by hanging at the Flossenbürg concentration camp on April 9, 1945, just weeks before Hitler committed suicide and the war ended.

Corrie Ten Boom? Her most famous book, The Hiding Place, is a biography that recounts the story of her family's efforts and how she found and shared hope in God while she was imprisoned at the concentration camp.

Hitler was not the only bad guy of his time. Funny how Democrats want to avoid any critique of Stalin and Mao, who slaughtered many millions.

But appeals to historical events never cancel out the pacifist teachings of Jesus.
Jesus didn’t teach pacifism but the 2nd Death in the Lake of Fire by his hand as this thread details God commands conquest. Jesus is so ruthless in eliminating evil, he will resurrect the evil dead just so they can die again at his judgment. No one is more bad ass than Jesus of Nazareth, the son of God. And we should model him, follow his lead, which is what Christians have done through the centuries.

I'd love for you and @Matthias to cogently reconcile your idea of over-spiritualized pacifism with God's ultimate plan to violently destroy evil.
Here's how I do it; There's a time for peace and a time for war, Ecclesiastes 3:8. Christians have never been warmongers but they historically defend themselves by the millions over centuries as the record overwhelmingly shows.

I was only referring to that one post. LOL On another topic @Matthias may be aligned. However, theoretical or theological similarity (agreeing how many angels may dance on the head of a pin) pales next to a falling out over necessary practical application.
  • OT: Sabbath 1 day per week, not 7.
  • NT: If you don't work, you shall not eat.
These are unchanging soulful considerations reflected in Christ's brilliantly discerning spiritual from soulful with Give to Caesar what is Caesar's. Give to God what is God's. The overly spiritualized today ignore the implications of this first part, especially as Christian culture and government took root.
