Denominations are man's creation and not God's. The believers were first called Christians at Antioch. Jesus was fighting religion when walking around Jerusalem. It's the same today only multitudinous malignant religion is at stage IV.

WHAT!!!!!! I had my first intro to the Savior in a Pentecostal Church, But also had many bad experiences!
After a few years we fell out of Church, we knew that something was wrong, there was no growth, just the same old sermons. Then we tried to fall back into Church, And again we were, I guess starving. That is when we Prayed for the Truth, and the Savior by His Spirit peeled the scales from our eyes, and we Found Meat to eat, not just low fat milk, no wonder people with a bit of sense have a bad attitude about Churches. I think people want the Love, they even want God, BUT!

HAY! I have handled many many rattle snake's, right after I cut off there head's, LOL!
and I do understand, Paul was bitten and the snake held on so when Paul pulled back his hand the snake was taken up with His hand, Paul wasn't playing with it! IMO

I praise God daily He saved me outside church walls. So much religious doctrine I didn't have to have surgically removed.

I didn't know you weren't supposed to ask God for stuff so I asked Him and He did it. Still does. I'm old and beat up and needed to have the trees on the steep hillside in front of my yard cut but was unable to do it. A Christian pentecostal preacher arborist showed up to buy a tool I was selling. He just came back and cleared that timber for me. God sent him and I didn't even ask! Saw, him yesterday at the store and he asked how, that hill was and said he'd be back to trim it for me! Thank you Lord! Thanks Steve!

Hallelujah to God! I sold several items online and every one was sold to believers with whom I was able to pray. About four or five I think!

Otherwise you are adding to scripture.

What if the Holy Ghost in me is adding according to other things Jesus may have done or said?

I have faith because scripture provided my information. Unless you can base your claims directly on scripture, you do not have faith in the matter.

I did base what I said on scripture. You simply disagreed with the interpretations although you usually did not even directly address the scriptures I cited.

According to me I was led by the Holy Ghost. But, no one can prove anyone right or wrong except by the power of God in Him. Even when a person is right, he may not be accepted by people who already stand immovable by even God. Jesus, the only man who always had the power and always spoke His Father's Word was rejected by many.

No one should expect that winning a debate will establish God's truth. Not everyone is an expert and not every one is a debater. Education, expertise and knowledge of the scriptures are not the way to Life as you should know. Apparently you do not.

As long as you are leading yourself by your knowledge of scripture and by man's logic you will fall short of what God has for men.

"O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps." Jerem 10:23

The only difference between a man walking in the time of Jeremiah and a man walking now would be that a person now can be led by the Holy Ghost. If he is not he is still walking blind even though he owns and reads a Bible.

And what my friend is a cult? You speak of trusting in the scriptures, but how do you define a cult? Did you get your definition from the scriptures?

Only God is invincible? Anyone who is not always on His side will stumble. The problem with people, believers, is that instead of always being in the Spirit, they occasionally or even routinely quench the Holy Spirit of God in them. Most churches teach people to quench the Spirit. This last is certainly a problem especially for newly converted people.

I was a Charismatic but saw through the movement after a few years. And I know the "gifts" of today are not anything like the originals. We could begin a thread perhaps and look into it.

Because you apparently saw some error in some people you chose to throw out the whole thing? Would you do that with the Bible because you encountered some discrepancies you could not explain? Do you understand all of the mind of God always?

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

Tongue speakers in the first century did not need to learn how to speak in tongues. They didn't know there was such a thing. It came out spontaneously. All of Christendom would be speaking in tongues if they were for today, not just a few denominations who coach each other on how to do it.

Perhaps the problem is in some of those denominations or individuals who do not speak in tongues... as you say spontaneously.
You speaking of 'coaching', but does not the place you attend coach you not to surrender to the Spirit to stand and testify just because you feel the words burning down inside of you? Wait to testify rather until the 'man in charge' says "it is now time for a testimony service". Or, "You are not allowed to talk in tongues here".

"Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues." I Cor 14:39

I entered the Charismatic movement in the early 70s. And I'm fully aware of Azuza Street and Bethel Bible college in Kansas. I also know God heals and works miracles today. But I had too many questions about what I saw in the movement during the 70s.

And so you decided that the best thing for you to do was to quench the Spirit of God and to teach others that it was always wrong for everyone to do it. Who elevated you to that calling?

Were you taught your beliefs? Or did you first see them in scripture and then find a church that came close to matching them?

Some people may certainly go by their feelings rather than following the Holy Ghost as they make their decisions about attending church and about God. However, do you presume that no one is really led by God today? Do you so easily put God in a box and limit the Holy One of Israel? Again, I repeat to you this verse:

You will say you follow the scriptures, but a lot of those people who disagree with you on this point also strive to follow the scriptures. How many different churches groups [churches or denominations] with contradictory viewpoints follow the Bible as faithfully as they are able? Are they all wrong because they disagree with you? Who set up you on your pedestal?

On this thread mostly I am talking to @Dave L . I really don't expect him to suddenly change his position but perhaps one day if he is sincere at all in his walk with God, his eyes will be open to possibilities outside of his own little closed world. If you have actually put him on ignore my posts may look a little strange.
