I'm doing a research project on the definition of marriage, the way God sees it. Basically I'm collecting historical facts, Scripture, society's trends, and finally discussion on this topic by you.
The two basic viewpoints I'm doing research on are these:
1. Marriage is established by a male and female who, knowing they will say vows before God and witnesses in a formal wedding ceremony, consummate in order to join themselves together as man and wife, or
2. Marriage is established by a male and female who say vows before God and witnesses in a formal wedding ceremony first, then consummate (being a gift rather than the joining of the two).
There are many points to consider each way. Have at it!
