5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. - 1 John 1:5-8.

If you don't understand 1John 3:9, then these other verses in 1John 1:5-8, may be hard to understand as well.

1John 3:9 gives the understanding of spirit and how union - oneness - completion - the cross - crucified with - a birthing, has came into exsistence. What was crucified was the old you, your Adamic ancestry - heritage, and the innate nature you started life with. Everyone did or does, even though the sin nature has been crucified 'in Christ' you must be in Christ or believe as the scriptures say and receive a brand new nature. The nature of God, which is 'in Christ,' is what sinner's receive the moment they believed on the Lord Jesus Christ. Immediately you are taken out of Adam (who is crucified in Christ) and placed in Christ' where the Adamic nature has been crucified.

Now just in case you haven't noticed - a lack of rightly dividing soul and spirit has caused religion alot of trouble and confusion. In many ways it hasn't as well too because all you have to do is ignore the scriptures. Or at least take scripture and make it say what you want and need it to say. There is a verse in Romans 5 that says we are saved by his life.

9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. - Romans 5:9-10.

What you want to look at is all good religions preach about the death of Jesus and rightfully so. But what they cannot do is as scripture says; take a body of believers into the understanding of being saved by his life. After all Jesus is alive you know. They will preach that but never take you into what actually saves you, which is his life. His life being the life of the believer now. That is the difference in a christian walking in understanding and a religious person. Religion gets you to the cross, at least most religions, but they can take you no further than the death burial and resurrection. Their thinking is; that is all there is in God and they make the foolish gesture of believing they are God's mouthpiece - but scripture begs to differ.

Only in Christ do you have life or get life. So the cross reconciled humanity in Christ. That is a good place to be, no other place you want to be but we must follow through with scripture. And scripture says 'more than being justified, reconciled by the cross. 'We are saved by his life' very important to a believers understanding in living the new life, as well as moving on in God as we are prompted at times. Growing in God is your joy and with out the saving life of Jesus, your understanding of that anyway keeps you frustrated and lacking in understanding.

So the point in our text 1John 1:5-8, is to show the difference between soul and spirit and 1John 1, and 1John 3, does that. Know your bible and be led of the Spirit, for there is no other teacher that can teach you Christ'.

The Holyspirit will give you the nudge you need to follow him - he is as gentle as a dove but speaks bold to the child of God. Don't be afraid to follow him. The "much more" in Romans 5, is his life (Christ' in you) becomes your life and you live by that life or the life of another we can say. There is no other life but Christ' - there is a death life that was in Adam but that has been crucified 'in Christ' - believe the scriptures. Bless you.
