Provide just one (1) scripture whereby an actual baptism is taking place in the name of Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
Hint: Matthew 28:19 is not an actual baptism taking place.
Acts 2:38 (NKJV)No they obeyed Jesus and Baptized with the Triune formula! There is no record that after Pentecost the apostles only baptized in Jesus name.
Don't need to!
It is the command Jesus gave to the Apostles! Either this is a valid command or not.
Prove this is just a suggestion or maybe just an idea Jesus tossed out!
That seems to be your approach to Bible study - throw out scripture that does not agree with you.
You've done that on a previous post as well.
And, yes it is a command by Jesus - do you think EVERYONE got it wrong by NOT baptizing that way.
Or do you suppose they ALL knew something that YOU DO NOT KNOW!
Acts 2:38 (NKJV)
38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins;
Seems you are like many. Throw an allegation and don't support it!
Doesn't matter, it is still plural--elowah is the singular.
Well if they were taught to baptize by the apostles according to this formula and did not- yes they got it wrong! A command is meant to be obeyed whether SCripture has examples of it or not!
If you are waiting to push acts 19 , don't. The early history of the church is a history of partial knowledge and lack of coordination.
However as the apostles teaching expanded, the the baptismal formula became widespread! If one wishes to day to baptize in just the name of Jesus- they are being disobedient, unless they are totally ignorant of any scripture. Which begs the question- How would they know to baptize anyhow???
