I have heard that bunnies and trees and other symbols on some of our national holidays are actually pagan symbols representing, whatever it is they do. So probably not, but it's like anything if santa clause effect how you worship Jesus then maybe your faith is weak.
Of course we should. It's Jesus' birthday.
If that's not a good enough reasons, then think about how dark and dreary winter is and how we need soemthing to brighten things up in the coldest and darkest time of year. Where I live it will be dark by 3:00PM on Christmas day.
The question though is, how does one worship God in spirit and in truth and celebrate Christmas since Jesus was not born on December 25?
Yeah and that goes back to the Mcdonaldization of modern day christianity. Most people may go to church on Easter or Christmas and that's all they care to do. They kind of get there quick cheap fill and it's out the drive through, it is something that would be nice to change but that's not really up to us.
A true leader takes the lead even if he is the only one.....and usually the rest follow much later. But I don't believe in waiting for a leader to go before me.....I am one of many leaders and I have no fear of going against the prevailing view.
To what truth.
Well if you can change a mans heart you should teach us how.
25th of December is when we celebrate Jesus Birthday but I never said he was born on that day. Sheppards were out with their flocks and they had lambs and lambs are born in spring, by December they are fully grown sheep. Maybe Jesus was born in april or May. That's not the point. 25th of December is nothing to do with it However Dcember 25 is a great time to celebrate it because it was the date of the traditional mid winter feasts. Pagan feasts, but the church was flexible in those days (circa 7th century, more so that the RCC is today)
Do you know what would have happened if the Church suppressed these festival?
I'll tell you, people woud'l not have accepted Christianity in the first place or if they did then they would have apostacised because people back then wouldn't ahve stood for a religion that didn't allow celebrations.
However, I try not to get too caught up in the commericalisation of Christmas, though I do enjoy myself and eat and drink a lot but I also observe the Christmas services including recieving the Euchaist on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
So what do Christians do who abstain from celebrating Christmas? Do you adhere to any religious observances or just treat it like any other day?
Santa Claus is a lie that is told to children. He is given 'qualities' like Jesus. "He knows when you are sleeping. He knows when you're awake. He knows if you've been bad or good..." When they find out that Santa is a lie then why should they believe in Jesus?I have heard that bunnies and trees and other symbols on some of our national holidays are actually pagan symbols representing, whatever it is they do. So probably not, but it's like anything if santa clause effect how you worship Jesus then maybe your faith is weak.
