Basing faith on it is one thing but some of the comments really make me shake my head.
Until someone can replicate such an image then it remains a mystery and a possibility in my book.
There's a joker on youtube that uses paint and a written explanation of how this pinhole camera could do it.
That's all i could find
Also, Fran, the gentleman that opened this thread is taking the claim to another level. He has different ideas and frustrates people but i don't mind him
Look above at post #522 and give me your thoughts please... The voice of reason
Just from looking at the shroud from the distance at which one is kept...the Mary image and heart cannot be noticed.
As I see close ups of the shroud (not the ones posted by the O.P.,,but my own)
it DOES kind of look like an image of Mary and the other side of the burned area does kind of look like the Immaculate Heart of Jesus. I do not notice the sword myself, but that doesn't mean it's not noticeable from up close.
Sometimes we see images in clouds. I think we could get a little carried away by all this.
God does not need the Shroud to convince persons. Miracles do not convince people. (in some instances they do).
If
@Brian wants to believe that the Shroud is God speaking to him,,,then he's right in sharing what he believes God has told him to do. Of course, we don't know if this is true or not, which is why we should stick to scripture. Also, this is a very bad way to witness, as I've stated before.
I also don't understand why some are so OPPOSED to the O.P.
Is it because they believe the Shroud is "catholic" and they so dislike the CC?
This is unfortunate because it then clouds everything they come into contact with that is Catholic.
Perhaps if they saw the prison that Paul was kept in and maintained by the CC in Rome in the Roman Forum, they'd be thankful that some church -- no matter which one --- was faithful in saving what could be saved of our faith.
