Yellow Submarine is a great song and The Beatles are awesome, but the song's lyrics are a bit silly.
I was a huge Beatle fan from the time I was five. When they delved into psychedelics, and I.V. drugs, since I idolized them, at the age of 13, I followed suit. One night while on L.S.D., I had a bad trip, saw demons and seraphim, and had a panic attack that lasted 2 years.
They were also a factor when I, at the age of 13, used a needle. Which is how, at the age of 15, I caught Hepatitis C.
Besides all that, they put out some really good music. Though I don't listen to it much, because of the memories that come with it.

I'm sorry that happened to you, and I'm glad you're better now. The Beatles had an opposite effect on me, and my life, though. Their music provided me a comforting refuge of solace while growing up in an abusive home. I mentioned this yesterday in the "Thankful for..." thread in the Praise forum.
Oh, they were a hiding place for me, too! I was just devoted to them...too much so. I allowed them to influence every aspect of my life. They were like a gospel to me. I was a Beatlemaniac. They had that effect on millions of young people. I've never seen anything like it! I had every one of their records. When John Lennon was assassinated, I was hospitalized for depression.
