...temperance. I’m not seeing temperance in my life so I do have questions. Any help is appreciated. What I could find concerning temperance (self control). Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, [23] Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

2 Peter 1:4-8 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. [5] And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; [6] And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; [7] And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. [8] For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Incorruptible?

I believe that Paul was referring to the discipline that comes with training and study, in order to gain skill in a secular endeavour i.e athleticism, artistry, professor, tradesman...
Christians are also meant to train and study, but both the approach and the objective are different.
Bible study, wisdom, charity, spirituality are excercises that not only procures one's own salvation, but brings about conversion in others, towards a much greater prize.

don't eat too much, don't drink too much.....no junk food, fresh fresh fresh....mindful of the sexing habits....work out in your chosen field regularly .....and who knows, you might win an Olympic gold.

Thank you. Agree but Who Trains ... in “the discipline that comes with training” Proverbs 22:6-10 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. [7] The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. [8] He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail. [9] He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor. [10] Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

Reminds me of so many verses: sit not in the seat(or house) of the scorners (can’t find the verse), all the verses about strife, and even God can make your enemies to be at peace with thee; strife and reproach shall cease.

“self control” ...The fruit of the Spirit of God doesn’t promise the control of others but beginning first with ‘self control’ in what you blame and accuse others of ...do you do those same things also? Why worry over the splinter in your brothers eye...and excuse the massive beam in your own? 2 Corinthians 1:23-24 Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth. [24] Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your for by faith ye stand.

I'm saying ViJ that unless one trains the body and mind ie, gives it the maximum chance of being sharp and fit and healthy one will not win at an Olympic event. It's not just admitting this, it is doing it....living it.

Being sharp and fit and healthy involves putting the best into your body and mind......junk becomes a retardant and a weakener and even a temporal crown (Olympic gold...using this illustration) will not be won. Paul uses this to illustrate the similarity of running for the crown of eternal life.....making sure that nothing that retards our striving is taken on board.

Well, you answered it yourself by your plethora of verses - depends on the context. It absolutely has various meanings and applications, but all culminate into gaining spiritual insight and wisdom, in order to transcend the desires and vices of the flesh. Even experience has its merits, provided that we assess the source and ramifications of what we formerly practiced.
Training comes in various forms, the authors of the Bible are imparting to us the requirement to remain vigilante about how we act, and what desires and sentiments produce what kind of results, acts of righteousness or iniquity.
