I thought you'd be keen to have a go at answering Epi. Why am I asking this?.....The boards are full of all manner of lengthy explanations about all manner of things yet when it comes to what we imagine the disciples told people re the Kingdom of God folk seem to be stumped.

We could ask, did they tell the folks to be good boys and girls?....I'm sure nobody needed to tell them that. So, for those who make it appear that they have a handle on the message of Salvation, is it too much to ask what they think was communicated under that broad heading, The Kingdom of God? ....because ultimately that was the burden of the Apostles as it was of Jesus.

See if we can come up with some chutzpah.
understand why the publicans and prostitutes are beating you in

Hi Quietthinker
You know I sometimes go back in my mind and try and imagine things from the prospective of those people thousands of years ago.....we know that the Kingdom progressed and grew, we know that the gospel message has been heard around the world, but the Apostles were the ones that were first commissioned with that .........they didn’t have the prospective of time. They knew that the hearers of the word would be carrying on their message, but had no way of knowing if it would survive...........they saw people come to faith, but they also saw how things crept in that were not of God. Not sure if this is what you mean, but sometimes a sense of responsibility , a care and concern for the world , a desire to see the hearts of men and women change, can be a burden that drives people to persevere ....to keep going.

is that what you meant ,or something else ? Rita

It was along the lines of Jeremiah 20:9 as brakelite rightly quoted. '.....But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.'
or
John 4:34 '....'Jesus explained, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work.'

In the religious world's rush to be right, has the 'Kingdom of God' been put on a back burner? Do they even know what the Kingdom of God consists of? or am I addressing a taboo question?

For example, when Jesus sent out the seventy, two by two, he told them to
'heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.' Luke 10:9

to reiterate ....what was it they explained to the people as no doubt questions would have been forthcoming. I'm certain they didn't just say the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you, the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you and leave it at that.
prolly worth a mention that the Apostles were not former choir-boys or anything, too; they were fishermen, a fairly rough bunch right

Well, yes, though also God chose/chooses the weak things of the world o confound the wise....

By God's Strength, in Christ Jesus, all He Purposes is Accomplished, His Way.

Philippians 1:12-14
"But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel; …"

1 Thessalonians 1:8
For not only did the message of the Lord ring out from you to Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone out to every place, so that we have no need to say anything more.

2 Timothy 1:8
So do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, or of me, His prisoner. Instead, join me in suffering for the gospel by the power of God.

2 Timothy 2:3
Join me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 4:17
But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message would be fully proclaimed, and all the Gentiles would hear it.

Philippians 1:7
It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart. For in my chains and in my defense and confirmation of the gospel, you are all partners in grace with me.

Philippians 1:13
As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.

Philippians 1:14
And most of the brothers, confident in the Lord by my chains, now dare more greatly to speak the word without fear.

"Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David, as proclaimed by my gospel, 9for which I suffer to the extent of being chained like a criminal. But the word of God cannot be chained! 10For this reason I endure all things for the sake of the elect, so that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.…"

Interesting. And gotta agree with you. Perplexing.
"May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth: 19A loving doe, a graceful fawn— may her breasts satisfy you always; may you be captivated by her love forever. 20Why be captivated, my son, by an adulteress, or embrace the bosom of a stranger?…"

Remember the man who came on here not long ago with his wife’s breast (implants I assumed) as his profile picture(displayed fully), how pleasing she is to him he spoke of.

Like tats...would fake implants of double d’s be included there? As a woman’s breast can satisfy you always; may you be captivated,

Seems that way though in the world... the size of ones “rack” does captivate.

Job 30:1-8 But now they that are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock. [2] Yea, whereto might the strength of their hands profit me, in whom old age was perished? [3] For want and famine they were solitary; fleeing into the wilderness in former time desolate and waste. [4] Who cut up mallows by the bushes, and juniper roots for their meat. [5] They were driven forth from among men, (they cried after them as after a thief [6] To dwell in the clifts of the valleys, in caves of the earth, and in the rocks. [7] Among the bushes they brayed; under the nettles they were gathered together. [8] They were children of fools, yea, children of base men: they were viler than the earth.

1 Corinthians 1:27-28 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound (they that are younger have me in derision) the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; [28] And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

Job 30:8 Lexicon: "Fools, even those without a name, They were scourged from the land.

2 Corinthians 10:1 Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:

Luke 22:26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.

The world is incredibly, completely full of wickedness, - God has reserved full punishment for it, soon to be executed...

Jesus! >> His Word >>
The SWORD.

Think I came to bring peace? NO! I came to bring a SWORD.... TO SEPARATE (from sin, from the devil, from family, from the world, from vanity)...

Job 30:22 says a lot “Thou liftest me up to the wind; thou causest me to ride upon it, and dissolvest my substance.”

Hebrews 10:32-34 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; [33] Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used. [34] For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.

Job 30: 29 I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls.

2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

Revelation 6:4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Of what we read in the scriptures what do you suppose the burden of the Apostles was? What was it that they spoke of to their hearers? What was their primary thrust in all their letters? .....and, why should it be any different today?

The disciples taught that the Jesus that was killed was the Son of God, the Savior of the World; but not just Savior, but also the Messiah that would take away the sin of the World.

The problem we have today is most just love Jesus, the Savior to take them to heaven. There are some who want to keep their sin, and thank Jesus for freeing them of the punishment due them. Have you ever heard posts or radio sermons that say "we will always sin while in these bodies of flesh"? That is by those who don't know Jesus as the Christ.

They may love Jesus, but He does not abide in them. He doesn't KNOW them.
