Th Holy Writ is full of descriptions and relations between water "aqua" and the Holy Spirit "Pneuma". Both are described as being givers and source's of life in the natural sense and the spiritual sense. Genesis 1:2 opens the Sacred Book with describing the Spirit of the Lord and Water being present at the beginning and much can be interpreted and inspired from just this simple verse. In my reading and studying of this Union I have observed the following:

“Now the earth was formless and void (empty), darkness was over the face (surface) of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters (floods).” Genesis 1:2

The final observation and last action of the pre-creation Spirit of God was that of Him “hovering over the waters.” Water is a sign of life and an essential of life! Water can both give life and take life away! The power and symbolism of water to life on earth, is that 71% of earth is made up of water and 60% of adult men’s bodies contain water. Water in the text of Genesis 1:2 can be used to describe two things 1. the birth canal and the amniotic fluid and 2. water baptism. The former initiating us into life and the latter initiating us into the Christian faith (Acts 2:38)! Jesus came through both the water of the womb and the water of the baptism (Matthew 3:13-17)! Yet water in itself cannot give life because if it could; life would have already been in process before Creation. Yet water coupled with the Spirit of God is a dynamic duo! The Spirit is described by Jesus our Savior as “Living Water” flowing within the believer (John 7:38-39). Before life could come forth the union of the Spirit of God and the water had to be made! And through this great union life to all came into existence and established a union that gives life in the natural and the spiritual! I call this union the “AquaPneuma.” This union is made plain by the words of our Savior Jesus Christ! “Verily, verily (truly, truly) I say unto thee (you), except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” (St. John 3:5)

Observations
1. Pre-Creation: The Spirit of the Lord and water were in Union to bring about Creation. (Genesis 1:2)
2. Post-Flood: Noah releases a dove (symbolism of the Spirit) to go and see if the water had subsided and was life able to start again. (Genesis 8:12)
3. In natural birth one needs the Spirit of God "breath of God" and the water of the womb (amniotic fluid). (Genesis 2:7 & John 16:21)
4. Jesus the Savior came by the water of the womb and the Spirit of the Lord. (Luke 1:35)
5. Jesus was baptized in Water and filled with the Spirit and a dove (Spirit) confirmed Jesus' baptism. (Matthew 3:13-17 & Luke 4:1)
6. Jesus prophesied the the Holy Spirit would be as "rivers of living waters" flowing within the believer (John 7:38)
7. Jesus instructed Nicodemus that the way to be "born again" and enter the "kingdom of God" is to be "born of the water and the Spirit" (John 3:5)
8. The Apostles encouraged seekers to "repent and be baptized and to receive the Holy Ghost" (Acts 2:38; Acts 10:47; Acts 19:1-6)
9. In the Celestial City "New Jerusalem" and "New Heaven & Earth" the Spirit of the Lord will dwell among man and a river of life will flow. (Revelations 22:1-6)

Thus, the beautiful and mystical union of the Water and the Spirit the "AquaPneuma" has played a critical and important part in God's dealing with mankind and His creation.
