Sorry Richard but you are quite wrong. Antiochus did rule Babylon. He ruled over the Seleucid portion of Alexanders Empire and that included Babylon.
At the height of its power, it included central
Anatolia, the
Levant,
Mesopotamia,
Persia, today's
Turkmenistan,
Pamir and parts of
Pakistan.

Mesopotamia is the area of Babylon.
And I didn't change anything. I quoted directly from the KJV!
I wrote the page but posted this paragraph from a friend of mine.
Benjamin Newton in his book "Aids to the Study of Prophetic Inquiry" written in 1859, predicted that the "true antichrist of the New Testament should arise from the same Babylon" that Nebuchadnezzar and Antiochus Epiphanes rose from.
Finis Dake, Arthur Pink, E.W Bullinger, and Benjamin Newton all believed that the antichrist would be an Assyrian.
So you must be saying that Isaiah 10 and 14 are about the Assyrian king Sennacherib? If you think this prophecy is history, you have a lot of explaining to do.
Isaiah says "be not afraid of the Assyrian."
What's "the annointing?"
Isaiah 10 and 14 are certainly speaking of the end times and the millenium.
Sennacherib was not destroyed in Israel. He was murdered by his own sons when he returned to Assyria. The Assyrian is said to be destroyed in God's land (Israel) and because of the anointing.
Isaiah 14:25 That I will break the Assyrian
in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his
yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.
Isaiah 10:27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his
yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed
because of the anointing.
Isaiah 30:31 For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod.
The Lord did not perform His whole work during the time of Sennacherib. (720 to about 683 BC). It wasn't the Lord who punnished Sennacherib. It was his sons who murdered him after he returned to Assyria! The Lord's "whole work" is not finished until he returns!
10:1
2 Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.
Isaiah 14 is certainly talking about the end and the Millenium. The following verses prove it!
Israel has never ruled over their oppressors, and have never been given rest from sorrow and fear.
Isaiah 14:1 ¶For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob,
and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
2 And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place:
and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.
3 And it shall come to pass in the day
that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,
This is speaking of the millenial kingdom. The whole earth has never been at rest after Sennacherib was murdered by his sons.
Isaiah 14:7
The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.
8
Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.
The Assyrian anti-christ is likened to Lucifer. And I doubt that hell from beneath was moved to meet Sennacherib at his coming.
Isaiah 14:9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.
10 All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?
11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Daniel says that the anti-christ will not be destroyed by human hands. Sennacherib was murdered by his sons.
Daniel 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
Isaiah 30:31 says the Assyrian shall be destroyed by the voice of the Lord.
Isaiah 30:31 For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod.
The Assyrian king of Isaiah's day is said to die in his own land.
2 Kings 19:6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the
king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
7 Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour,
and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land. (He was Killed by his own son)
The yoke imposed upon Israel by the Assyrian anti-christ is broken by
"the anointing." ...
Think about it!
7 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder
