20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. - Galatians 2:20.
When Christ hung on that tree it was not just him hanging on that tree but that was you and I, all in Adam. All that were in Adam was in Christ when he went to the cross, all in Adam are dead by the cross. You ever wonder how we are crucified with Christ, that's what happened at the cross not in your Dailey living. It used to be popular to say "I'm not dead to that yet or crucify yourself Dailey" or some other saying. A good friend of mine was always dieing to something. Good friends but we disagreed to always having to die to something. My take was "you are already dead to it" his take was "you needed to die to it."
I felt he was not seeing the believers death in Christ on the cross. It is true we have things that are in our life (a sharp tongue, abrasive demeanor or some other short coming) that is in the process of renewal but that is a soul-mind issue not a cross issue. The cross issue for a believer is; the moment they believed they went from dead spiritually to alive in Christ as a believer now. Although dead in adam with this death comes freedom of man's spirit to be joined unto the Lord Spirit and the two become one by a birthing according to what is written. So we go from death life, to the life of God which is in Christ in a moment.
A believer has to properly divide soul and spirit to see exactly what was crucified. How is it a sinner believes unto righteousness? Because they are already dead so they need to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation. They don't necessarily need to repent, they need to believe. Believers repent, sinners believe. We all come to the Lord through repentance but it's the believing on the Lord Jesus Christ unto repentance that saves a sinner. So now when you see a cross on someone's neck, in a yard, or on a church, see yourself on it, not just Christ crucified but you hanging on that cross crucified with Christ on that cross. Bless you.
