Even if Jesus said, My day has not yet come, it still did not have anything to do with the phrase, "the day of the Lord."
You are just resisting the obvious because you believe otherwise.

If you were to say "in my grandfather's day", should I resist and say "If he lived for more than a day, you are wrong?" And if you said he died at the young age of 33, should I say, "Even if he only lived a short life, it is more than a day?"

But no, and it is also not wrong to say that "the day of the Lord" was His life and times, or that "the Lord's day" does not mean His whole life or this day or that, but rather that it is the day marking the day He rose from the tomb, or even refers to "the third day" which can mean Sunday following the cross or the day He was or is "perfected" which many would argue that it has already come, while others argue it is yet to come.

But I submit to you, that all who argue are wrong...for one who knows the truth does not need to argue what they believe is true, because they know what is true.

That's provably not so. The measure of truth is not what one believes to be true. You and her can both think you "know" what is true while one or the other (or both of you) may be completely wrong. This is evident when two people genuinely believe different things to be true. Both can't be correct even if both know their belief to be true.

I was pretty much saying the same thing...except not at all suggesting that "what one thinks they know" or "believes they know" is anything more than delusion.

No, I just let scripture explain scripture like any other successful student of the Bible would do.

Who is "successful"--have you not read of false teachers, strong delusion, and great apostacy?

It is not wrong to study, but good. But it is a fact of biblical history that the general direction of those who have, has been error...and of course mocking anyone who actually knows from God.

You can't take Jesus saying to His mother before his ministry even started that my HOUR is the DAY OF THE LORD. Success is NOT blatant error!

Satan, the manifestation of evil, facilitated the problem from the beginning. It is that problem that Jesus came to conquer, setting Satan's captives free while defeating Satan in the greatest sting of all time.

But no, when the devil is cast into the lake of fire, it does not still continue.

As I explained, the Greek word (G5610) from "the day of the Lord" verse is translated as meaning both "day or "hour", etc.:
The KJV translates Strong's G5610 in the following manner: hour (89x), time (11x), season (3x), miscellaneous (5x).
Strong’s Definitions [?](Strong’s Definitions Legend)
ὥρα hṓra, ho'-rah; apparently a primary word; an "hour" (literally or figuratively):—day, hour, instant, season, × short, (even-)tide, (high) time.
That depends of course of WHICH Greek Lexicon dictionary is used...

NT:2250
hemera
(hay-mer'-ah); feminine (with NT:5610 implied) of a derivative of hemai (to sit; akin to the base of NT:1476) meaning tame, i.e. gentle; day, i.e. (literally) the time space between dawn and dark, or the whole 24 hours (but several days were usually reckoned by the Jews as inclusive of the parts of both extremes); figuratively, a period (always defined more or less clearly by the context):

KJV - age, alway, (mid-) day (by day, [-ly]), for ever, judgment, (day) time, while, years.
(Biblesoft's New Exhaustive Strong's Numbers and Concordance with Expanded Greek-Hebrew Dictionary. Copyright © 1994, 2003, 2006, 2010 Biblesoft, Inc. and International Bible Translators, Inc.)

And the CONTEXT of the "day of the Lord" of course is THE END OF THIS PRESENT WORLD, and the start of the world to come. Thus it is IMPOSSIBLE to try and make the "day of the Lord" into a period (or even a 'day) involving this 'present' world.

I too am surprised to see you agreeing with what I have also said many times:That Jesus did not ascend with His body per se, as many believe,
I don't at all agree with that. I only asked how the day of the Lord, that is come and is on earth, may apply to our lives in Christ on earth.

Just as Scripture plainly says, Jesus Christ in His resurrected body certainly has ascended to sit in glory, and was seen doing so in a cloud, as well as seen by Stephen standing in glory.

The Bible is not a lying fable like the Koran, that says that false prophet ascended also.

Jesus own personal resurrected body now sits in glory.

It is only His Spirit, that dwells within His church on earth: by His Spirit Jesus Christ is in us and is our hope of glory.

He does not dwell in us by His resurrected body. We are not the resurrected body of Christ in the flesh on earth.

but laid it down and gave it to His church,
His resurrected body is not laid down on earth, nor given to His church to be His resurrected body on earth.

Jesus only laid down His natural body for all men, even as any man that so loves his friends.

He gave His natural body to the smiters and the cross, not to the church:

I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

He has taken up again His resurrected body, and is not laid it down for any man at all on earth, but is ascended into heaven.

His day on earth is come and remains on earth, because He is now in heaven with resurrected body, and also on earth by His Spirit.

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.

Neither the Son nor the Father are in the flesh on earth today. Neither is the Holy Spirit come in the flesh.

saying, "take, eat, this is my body."
You're certainly not saying His natural flesh and blood is being spoken of?

That is why many carnal minded disciples turned back and stopped walking with Him, because they believed His spiritual words were of His natural body.

We eat and drink of Christ's Spirit, which is also the bread and water of Life, and we do so by loving and obeying Him.

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

He commands us to eat and drink of Him spiritually, and we do so, whensoever we are loving and obeying Him.

Thereby coming [again]
This is not the teaching I offer. There is no 'second coming' of Jesus Christ on earth, because there is not first coming of Him on earth.

There is only one coming and day of the Lord on earth, not two comings and days.

So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Scripture speaks of His appearing again a second time on earth, in sight of men.

Jesus Christ is come to earth, and the day of the Lord is on earth, but Christ Himself has two separate appearances on earth for all men to see. The first as a babe and man in the flesh, and the second as the resurrected Lord and Lamb with power.

in the flesh. Ours.

And this is way off.

Our flesh and natural bodies are not the resurrected body of Christ, laid down and given to His church on earth.

That is akin to saying the resurrection is now past, if we are the resurrected body of Christ on earth.

Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

That is a teaching used to delude Christians into thinking they are forever saved, justified, and resurrected in heavenly places, being now made the resurrected body of Christ, no matter what they do in their physical bodies on earth.

We are not the flesh and blood of Christ come again on earth. We are not Christ come again in the flesh.

That is exactly what followers say of false christs:

Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

I.e. Here is Christ in the flesh, come again on earth. They say of themselves, I am Christ come in the flesh again, Lo, here I am.

For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

We are of His flesh and His bones. We are not His flesh and bones come to earth. We are not the flesh and bones of Christ come down from heaven, again.

We are of Christ and God. We are not Christ and God on earth in the flesh.

It is not at all just a semantical difference, but is the difference between being Christians and members of His body on earth, and not being christs and gods ourselves in the flesh on earth.

The Spirit of Christ is not the resurrected body of Christ. And so His resurrected body is not on earth, nor dwelling within His church.

The first resurrection of the church will not be past, until we are bodily resurrected to be seen in His likeness, which John saw on Patmos.

You are not understanding.

The statement by Jesus to Mary, saying, "My hour has not yet come.” John 2:4 can also be translated as "My day has not yet come". The word for "hour" is often used for "day" and vice versa. The fact then that His hour/day had begun is in John 2:11:

11 This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

Not according to John 2:11:

11 This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

You have been found in error.
You are telling LIES. That John 2:11 Scripture has NOTHING to do with the LAST DAY OF THIS PRESENT WORLD called in Scripture the "day of the Lord" when Lord Jesus showed He will return. You instead DENY His future bodily return to this earth, which is what the unbelievers believe.

It is obvious to me that you are here to DISTORT The Word of God and lie against it. May God rebuke you, in the name of Jesus Christ!

Scott, what you are not understanding is that is has to do with the phrase, not just the word. The phrase that includes all the words in order - the/day/of/the/Lord - has to do with the judgment of the Lord. Scott, that is end times when we are either His Bride, or food for the lake of fire. Understand?????????

Yes, I do understand, and that is correct.

But you are apparently not understanding that the "end times" began as it is stated of Christ ("the End") in John 2:11. It sounds like you believe that nothing ends until the end of the times of this world--but it is not so. It ends with Christ, meaning His times in the flesh, but also in the spirit (the church age, of whom "to live is Christ")--which are what is referred to as "the end times."

Okay, it is like for us our death is the end - "and then comes the judgment." But what I was referring to is the title of this OP

Also, no purgatory ;)

I too was referring to the title ("the day of the Lord") of the Original Post.

We all have our day, but He who was from "before the foundation of the world", "the Beginning and the End", "the First and the Last"--His day is all of them combined. Which makes the idea that His day is only some pie in the sky future finale event as most believe it to be, sadly and grossly short of the reality of all that is true regarding Christ.

The Day of the Lord coming is determined according to whose prophesy is being foretold. If the prophesy for the Day of the Lord is foretold by the prophets of the Old Testament, who lived and died before the advent of Christ, then the Day of the Lord to them began when the promised Messiah came. All the prophets of old foretell would come to pass when the Messiah came is not one day, but the Messianic age, the Gospel era. But if the Day of the Lord is foretold from the authors of the New Testament, that Day shall be ONE day when Christ, the Messiah/Savior comes again as Judge, when the seventh angel begins to sound that time shall be no longer.

The Day of the Lord’s blazing anger:

Isaiah 28:21 The Lord will arise as He did on Mt Perazim, [1 Chron. 14:11] and storm with rage as He did in the valley of Gibeon, [Joshua 10:9-15] to do what He must do, to perform a strange and alien task.

Isaiah 29:5 Suddenly, in an instant the horde of your enemies will crumble into dust, punishment will come from the Lord, with thunder, earthquakes, with storm and tempest and flames of devouring fire.

Isaiah 13:6-13 Cry out: for the Day of the Lord is at hand, it will come in a mighty destruction. Fear will grip everyone, men will lose courage at the coming disaster. That cruel Day of the Lord’s vengeance and wrath is coming to reduce all the earth to a desolation and to destroy the evil and godless people on it. It will be a Day of darkness, on the day that the Lord brings disaster onto the world and due punishment to the wicked. He will put an end to arrogance and will humble the pride of the ruthless. Humans will become as scarce as fine gold, on the Day that the heavens will be moved and the earth shaken from its place, at the wrath of the Lord, in the Day of His blazing anger.
Ref. REB, some verses abridged.

As Isaiah tells us: The Lord has in the past acted to destroy His enemies and now, once again, He will act in His creation. Isaiah 42:14 Long have I restrained Myself. Isaiah 59:18, Isaiah 63:1-6, Isaiah 64:1-2, Psalms 83, Psalms 68:1-2, Jeremiah 12:14, Deuteronomy 32:26-43

1/ The Lord will arise, to perform a strange task – to punish His enemies, the attackers of Israel and to humble the godless. Isaiah 66:13-17

2/ Punishment will come from the Lord– not a nuclear war or anything instigated by man.

3/ Suddenly, in an instant – This is the event that ‘will come like a thief’.

4/.. earthquakes – Earthquakes will be caused by the microwave effect of the electromagnetic pulse in a Coronal Mass Ejection. An explosion of the suns surface. Isaiah 30:26a, Psalms 50:1-3, Malachi 4:1

5/ devouring fire – The fireball of the superheated cosmic particles of a CME.

6/ the Day of the Lord is at hand – This is the logical result of most of mankind’s rejection of God and His Laws.

7/ Fear will grip everyone – This sudden and shocking event will terrify all those people unaware of God’s plans. Ezekiel 7:17

8/ a mighty destruction, to reduce the earth to desolation – A worldwide disaster, but it will particularly affect the Middle East area. Zephaniah 1:14-18, Ezekiel 30:1-5

9/ a day of darkness – The approaching mass will obscure the sun and stars.

10/ Humans will become scarce – Millions will die from the initial strike and millions more from famine and the fighting afterward.

11/ the heavens move – the magnetosphere and the atmosphere will be severely affected.

12/ the earth will shake from its place – the hit from this CME may cause the earths orbit to speed up, thereby giving us a 360 day year, which is the prophetic year.

13/ His blazing anger – It is appropriate that the Lord will use the sun, our life sustainer, to judge mankind. A CME solar flare perfectly and literally fulfils all the prophesied effects, but it will quickly pass by, leaving the world to recover. A world that will never be the same again and the stage will be set for all the other prophesied things to happen before the Return of Jesus for His Millennium reign.
