I'm opening this thread in an effort to merge my previous comments on the exploration of space, the possibility of extraterrestrial life, and on Ufology. I intend to post more articles on these topics as I find them. I will also share more of my personal thoughts on them as well.

Personally, I believe there is life on other planets and extraterrestrial beings have visited our planet in the past and present. I believe the federal government obviously knows more about these visitations than it is willing to disclose to the American people. That being said, I think it is quite probability that a full disclosure from our federal government will be a possibility in my lifetime because of advanced smartphone technology.

I don't think the government will be able to indefinitely contain the plethora of video evidence of UFO phenomenon from multiple locations around the country. There are far too many eyes on the skies and eventually the government's dam of denial will break. I think the aircraft technology of the military will make a full UFO disclosure a possibility as well, considering this latest revelation: Pentagon officially releases UFO videos.

Trump calls newly released UFO footage 'a hell of a video'

Pentagon to launch task force to investigate UFO sightings

No Longer in Shadows, Pentagon’s U.F.O. Unit Will Make Some Findings Public

President Trump says he knows ‘interesting’ information about Roswell, New Mexico

For the record, The History Channel's program Ancient Aliens has an episode entitled Aliens and the Presidents. The episode reveals some very interesting information on what the Presidents (specifically Carter and Reagan) and the federal government know about the UFO phenomena.

Some Planets May Be Better for Life Than Earth: Researchers Identify 24 Superhabitable Exoplanets

Earth is not necessarily the best planet in the universe. Researchers have identified two dozen planets outside our solar system that may have conditions more suitable for life than our own. Some of these orbit stars that may be better than even our sun.

A study led by Washington State University scientist Dirk Schulze-Makuch recently published in the journal Astrobiology details characteristics of potential “superhabitable” planets, that include those that are older, a little larger, slightly warmer and possibly wetter than Earth. Life could also more easily thrive on planets that circle more slowly changing stars with longer lifespans than our sun.

The 24 top contenders for superhabitable planets are all more than 100 light years away, but Schulze-Makuch said the study could help focus future observation efforts, such as from NASA’s James Web Space Telescope, the LUVIOR space observatory and the European Space Agency’s PLATO space telescope.

“With the next space telescopes coming up, we will get more information, so it is important to select some targets,” said Schulze-Makuch, a professor with WSU and the Technical University in Berlin. “We have to focus on certain planets that have the most promising conditions for complex life. However, we have to be careful to not get stuck looking for a second Earth because there could be planets that might be more suitable for life than ours.”

Continue reading the article by clicking HERE.

Please note: the article does not suggest sending human beings to these Exoplanets. On the contrary, the article discusses the necessary criteria that these Exoplanets exhibit that has the potential to support life. As the article states, habitability does not mean these planets definitely have life, merely the conditions that would be conducive to life. In fact, the journey to these distant planets would not be possible with the limited technology of mankind at this particular time in human history. One light-year is about 6 trillion miles (9.7 trillion kilometers) and it would take approximately 37,200 years to go one light-year. The fastest outward-bound spacecraft, Voyager 1, has covered 1/600 of a light-year in 30 years and is currently moving at 1/18,000 the speed of light. I recommend reading the article before commenting on its validity and dismissing it.

I'm been fascinated with Astronomy and curious about what's out there in deep space since I was a child. I've spent a lifetime exploring the possibilities of what's out there in my own way. I bought an advanced telescope, so I could star gaze whenever I want to. I visit Observatories & Planetariums. I watch NASA Live, the Hubble Space Telescope feed, and the International Space Station feed. I research Ufology as a hobby and I'm involved with MUFON. My passionate interest for space exploration and Astronomy is what led me to become a Trekkie when I was a teenager.

If the debate gets into extraterrestrials, I wonder sometimes if it is moving into astrology as well as astronomy? o_O

Firstly, I'm not going to debate these topics in my thread because I consider arguing pointless. My thread is meant to be informative, not argumentative or confrontational. Secondly, I've never studied Astrology, so I haven't researched the subject of Extraterrestrial Astrology.

As the article specifies, it has never been a consideration to send human beings to these distant planets. I wish it could be true, but I don't believe it will ever happen in my lifetime. Admittedly, that is one reason why I like Star Trek and other science fiction (such as the X-Files).

The idea that there are other planets out there better suited for life casts a negative light on the Creation account in the Bible. God made the earth perfectly suited for all life that He created to live on the earth, of course. And He said that it was all "very good."

I hope you're not saying that you don't welcome someone challenging what scientists are saying. Science has advanced BECAUSE scientific assumptions have been questioned.

Aliens, more like geneticly engineered nephalim with an underground society.

If there are real aliens I wouldn't be surprised. God doesn't need to tell us everything, expecially when it isn't our business.

Actually your assumption is an old theory among some Ufologists and Ancient Astronaut Theorists. I believe there's a possibility that these beings exist. I also believe there could be a full disclosure of them and UFOs from the government during my lifetime (as I explained in my OP).

Do you recall the Roswell incident and the story of the solder that killed one of these creatures?

I'm interested to hear how others reacted to seeing them.

Would you mind refreshing my memory on the soldier being killed at the Roswell UFO crash site? I'm asking because I've read many different stories about the Roswell incident over the years. I tried to find the story online with Google, but I didn't have any luck finding it. But here are some older articles I did find during my online search concerning how other people reacted to seeing the aliens at the Roswell crash site.

Roswell officer's amazing deathbed admission raises possibility that aliens DID visit

    It was an old documentary.
A solder who was the first to arrive at the UFO crash found a dead creature, and another wounded one staggering around. The Solder stuck the staggering one with his rifle and killed it.

I didn't search online for documentaries, but I will now. Thanks for telling me.

    Ok...

Let's look at 100 light years away...

Meaning that the faint dots of light coming from the star these planets go around is a hundred years old already.

A hundred years ago we didn't have any antibiotics.
The industrial revolution was getting started and going.

And people are very concerned (rightfully so) that we will soon destroy ourselves with nuclear weapons.

    So...

If we sent someone to visit one of these planets...they will have to somehow accelerate at a standard one G for fifty years to get to maybe ⅒ the speed of light...might have to continue to accelerate for another 50 years. (Our time not what the spacecraft is experiencing)

And then turn around and slow down for 100 years at a standard one G.
And that's just to get there... never being able to exceed the speed of X-rays because that's as fast as our technology can go...and that is just to arrive there.

Then visit with whatever life forms that are available... being careful about contamination and viruses. Then spend another 250 years coming back.

That's 450+ years for a round trip... dodging meteorites and space dust.

    So...

Just for perspective our nation was going through the Antebellum era 200 years ago...slavery was still legal, Maine and Missouri were added to the Union and the Monroe Doctrine was introduced...

Will we even be alive in 200 years?

I love this topic. However, very little reflection on how this topic effects Christianity and Christian values.

First off, space travel is a waste of resources, in my opinion. With the risk of sounding like Judas, this money could be used for more pressing problems here on Earth. And, I do not care about the scientific advances that have been made because of space travel. Space travel is for the rich and famous. If the end of the world came at some point in the not too distant future (50 years or so), it is unlikely that any middle-class humans would be allowed on the spacecraft to travel to a new planet and avoid the destruction - the rich and famous will be on those crafts. (Personally, I do not believe God would allow this to happen.)

Having said that, I love science and I have great interest in space travel and the possibility for aliens. I share your interest in science fiction, especially Star Trek.

But, what does it mean for Christianity? Are aliens equivalent to what the Bible refers to as angels? Are we merely using different terms to refer to the same thing? Are there good aliens (angels) and bad aliens (Lucifer's army)? Is Heaven on another planet (Is the 'new earth' really a new planet)? Do we go to another planet after death? Additionally, Heaven may be in another dimension.

It would have to be a generational ship... children of astronauts would arrive there and then a minimum of two generations coming back.
If the radiation in space didn't kill them all with cancer.
