BUT If what we think we are supposedly hearing from Christ , God , the SPIRIT
contradicts in any way what JESUS taught while on earth

Ok - but what if we think we are supposedly hearing from Christ, God, the Spirit, and we see a contradiction in what we read in the Bible?

How do you handle that?

First I recommend testing the spirit!

1 John 4:1-3 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.

Some Christians who know and hear the Lord well use 1 Cor 12:3:

1 Cor 12:3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is accursed”; and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

Maybe the best way is to take what you are getting to Jesus Christ, by praying something like "Jesus Christ, did you say....?"

2 Cor 10:5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,

Now what you don't do is start leaning on your own understanding!!! , because it is written that His ways not our ways.

Is 55:8, 9 “For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Prov 3:5,6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.

And that is the problem we see all too often - that His people just start leaning on their own understanding, even of the Scriptures, instead of actually seeking Him listening to Him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And isn't that what amigo de christo is trying to get us to do? And that is not from God! That is not having faith in the Lord our God Jesus Christ, but is having faith in ourselves. And we see that all the time, because we tend to be men of little faith!!

Look - I have done it. I have heard things that I thought by my understanding, could not have been from the Lord only to find out later they were!!

One time I remember I was driving to a soccer game that even He asked me to go to, and there were people waiting from me to arrive. -- In fact I remember twice when that was the case and I didn't believe what I heard was true, only to find out I was wrong and He was right. The first time it was raining and hard, and as I was driving there He told me it had stopped raining. Well, that was clearly wrong because it was just pouring down. I wanted to turn around so bad, because I didn't want to watch the game in rain like that. So I called the people who had gone before me. They told me that it had just stopped raining there, just like He had said to me.

The other time I was running late to the that game. In fact the traffic was very bad and I would be lucky to even make by half-time, and I might be missing the whole game. So I wanted to turn back, and was telling myself that surely He was wrong. So when I got to the game I noticed both teams were on the side lines. I was thinking, 'Good, I made it by half-time'. But when I got to the field I found out that the refs had just gotten there and the game had not started, just like He had told me.

And this happens with soooooooooo much teaching He tells me verses the teachings other people tell me. It turns out the He is always right. Always right!! People are wrong, but He is right!! And He is faithful and true. If you listen to Him you will find that while you will not usually understand how what He is telling you is right - because His thoughts are not your thoughts and His ways not your ways, He will still wind up being right and they wrong!!

So those quote "Christians" who are leaning on their own understanding and there thoughts about even the Bible will wind up being wrong over and over and over, because they did not seek the Lord Jesus Christ by faith. They don't practice listening to Him to their own disgrace!!!

And for that reason, if you point to our Lord Jesus Christ and our need to listen to Him, they usually come back with something like: "BUT If what we think we are supposedly hearing from Christ , God , the SPIRIT contradicts in any way what JESUS taught while on earth"

They say that because they really don't believe in Him, nor know Him. If they did they would surely know that His thoughts are not our thoughts. Our thoughts tend to line up with what that snake said in the garden:

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘...

"Did God really say" and "BUT If what we think we are supposedly hearing from Christ" are basically the same words are they not?

Look - test the spirits, but don't think that it can not be the Lord speaking to you just because you don't understand!! Indeed, did you not read:

Is 1: 18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD,

He told us to come reason with Him because our thinking need correction, or did you not figure that out by just leaning on your own understanding?

Speaking in tongues can also be understood as having the gift of sharing the Gospel succinctly.
The Acts 2 account not only tells us it was other languages but also what it was they were sharing ie, 'the wonderful works of God'

If it is not sharing the wonderful works of God in a way understood by the hearers and identified as such then in my view, the phenomena is highly suspect.....and to add, what I have witnessed has all been highly suspect....and that's being polite
When I speak in Spanish, I share the wonderful works of God, and yet I do not have to 'speak in tongues' in order to do it. Same with French or Italian which I am working on, they are to share with others, it's just that simple..

Acts 2 is the Measure for the True cloven tongue of Pentecost.

Everyone present heard in their own language and dialect of birth. No gibberish.

And Apostle Peter said it was an example of what was prophesied for the very end in the Book of Joel (with "this is that"). And that is about the future "great tribulation" time where Jesus warned us in Mark 13 that some of us will be delivered up at the end to give a Testimony for Christ, and to not premeditate what we will say in that hour, but speak what The Holy Spirit gives us to say.

A friend at work claimed that if one didn't speak the gibberish tongue, then it was a sign they didn't have The Holy Spirit. He looked down on other Christians that didn't speak his gibberish tongue. And he asked me what the Oil in the lamps of the ten virgins of Matthew 25 meant. I told him it represents The Holy Spirit. So those churches think they only represent the five wise virgins, just because they speak in a gibberish unknown tongue.

The FACT of the matter is, that Apostle Paul did not define the cloven tongue of Pentecost as an "unknown" tongue. The KJV translators added the word "unknown" in 1 Cor.14. The true cloven tongue was heard and understood by all present at Pentecost, even in their own dialects.

The Joel prophecy pointing to the cloven tongue is actually about the Mark 13 event of Christ's elect delivered up at the very end of this world to give a Testimony for Christ. It will manifest like it did on Pentecost, to ALL NATIONS. And each people will hear it in their 'own' dialect of their language of birth. This will happen just prior to the "day of the Lord", which is the day when Jesus returns.

God does all things with purpose and order, it is Satan who brings about chaos and absolute nonsense words and babbling and tries to pass it off as a holy 'gift'...

You obviously haven't seen all the Lord has to say on this topic in the New Testament.

Here's one you obviously either have not seen or have chosen to ignore:

1 Corinthians 14:39
Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
