The Few and The Many

As I walk my little dog around my townhouse cul-de-sac, I notice everybody's license plates here in N.C. There are lot's of homes here and everyday, it gets more and more noticeable how very few Christians are living here in this group. The NC license plates seem to have either "First In Flight or In God We Trust. I have found only 2 out of about 200 vehicles have In God We Trust. Now, I always thought this was the bible belt so, it's disappointing.

It is continually reminding me of several scripture verses, has me wondering yet again about the few and the many :


22 "And He was passing through from one city and village to another, teaching, and proceeding on His way to Jerusalem. 23And someone said to Him, “Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?” And He said to them, 24“Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25“Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, ‘Lord, open up to us!’ then He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know where you are from."
Luke 13:22-25

13“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 14“For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it."

Matthew 22:14 : “For many are called, but few are chosen.”
Matthew 7:14"Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it".

So, when His chosen people, the Jews, refused to come he invited even the dogs!

This has been swirling in my mind for a while now and, it has me believing there will most surely be very, very few who make through the gates of heaven.

God has given me a burden here and that is to concentrate on my immediate neighbors and be in continual prayer for them all. Who knows, might start seeing some In God We Trust plates showing up.

So, does anyone have anything to add as to how many a "few" really is?

few means few . NO matter what state we move too
ITS GONNA BE FEW sister . i tried to tell us this for years . And even many who do lip his name
Follow the flow of darkness now sister . they do as did the jews WHOM GOD used the prophets to warn them to repent .
SISTER i never seen anything like this .
But as far as the actual number worldwide , it could be millions ,
i mean ten million out of EIGHT BILLION is a wee wee tiny rememnant . BUT IT IS FEW .
and when i say few , FORGET the false relgioins WE KNOW THEY DONT
i mean EVEN IN CHRISTEDOM sister . NOW WEEP like i have . WEEP and let us DO something .
help those neighbors sister and if they hear AMEN and if not , That is on them . AT least we tried sister .

we have us few all right .
I seem to notice some from canada , from the Uk
Perhaps here a state there a state
perhaps new zealand and etc
BUT YOU wanna know what i seem to notice all the true sheep have in common .
NO matter what city they dwell in
no matter what state , what country

God still wants “all to reach repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). And John saw a “great multitude that no one could number” from every nation and language standing before the throne (Revelation 7:9), evidence that the narrow way will still be crowded with redeemed people from across the globe.

So rather than despair over the few, lean into the mission. Pray for your neighbors. Shine as light on your street (Matthew 5:14–16). Be the voice that calls them to the only door that leads to life. You can’t control who responds, but you can be faithful with the people right in front of you, and watch God do the drawing.

I am not despairing, as I said in my OP...God HAS lead me to pray for them but, I will always have concern for the unsaved. My prayers lean more toward asking Him to draw to His son, open their eyes, bless them with a pure desire to know Him.

What God are you referring to? What Name get's the attention of the true God, the true Creator?

Lots of folks claim to be following "God" so we need to establish what Name the true God goes by.

I will always have concern for the unsaved.

If you did.... you'd be knocking on the doors of your neighbors offering to share the Gospel of the Lord Jesus with them.

I have an "In God we trust" sticker on my vehicle... But I suppose there are a few reasons more don't have them:

• Many who are humble or conservative do not wear their allegiances on their sleeve. They typically are not the loud ones in the crowd.
• My sticker(s) cost me $20 (which I would not have even mentioned if I didn't get so much grief and ridicule for charging for my books).

However, there are twelve gates into the Temple--into the body of Christ, and only one into the Holy of Holies. Only the High Priest enters the one. In Christ we too have access also to the Holy of Holies. But many who are called do not enter into the Temple--"into Christ" in God. Many enter into church, and would-be Christian living for a variety of self-serving reasons...and I am convinced these are the ones who will hear Him say, "I never knew you."

From my prespective that few would be the Bride of Christ... But heck I don't know.

I don't dwell on things so much as other people do. I believe that Yahavah/God is no longer angry at the world as so many people are today...

All I know is people have a choice. Either believer or do not. God has a place for both parties in the after life.

For Pete's sake Dan! Funny as, I know my 1st choice would be "In God We Trust" We ARE supposed to wear our Christianity well and, "walk in the light as He is in the light". IOW - do not do in the dark anything you would not do in front of others, ESP. your fellow Christians.

Also, it will bring lot's more attention from the un-believers and perhaps...keep us accountable (walk the walk)
And I am NOT saying every one that does NOT have In God We Trust on their plates isn't a Christian!

Years ago, the Sweet Lady bought me bought me one of those pseudo-plates that said "You've Got A Friend in Jesus", which you mount where the front plate would go in states that require plates both front and back. (FLA and NC only require the rear plate.) One of my colleagues (who would later become my boss) started greeting me with, "Hey, Friend of Jesus!". So, I offered to introduce him to my Friend. He didn't go for it, but, hey, it gave me an opening.

Over here many have fish signs stuck on the windows of their cars - but it’s not a common practice amongst Christian’s. So Is it a common thing to have that on the number plate in the US ?

Regardless, I have prayed that you will be used within your new neighbourhood, that Jesus light may shine through what you say and do as you get to know your new neighbours xx

It is clear from God’s Word that His wrath at sin did not cease to exist, it was satisfied at the cross on behalf of those who believe. In John 3:36, He declares, “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” There are only two eternal destinies. Those who repent of their sins and trust Christ will have eternal life with Him in His presence (“to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord” in 2 Corinthians 5:8), living in His new heaven and new earth where death and pain are no more (Revelation 21:3-4). Those who turn from Him will experience eternal separation from God (“these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life” in Matthew 25:46), described in scripture as the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15). The choice is real, the consequences are real. Today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2).

Isaiah cried, though the number of the Israelites be as the sands of the sea, only a remnant will be saved. I believe this applies to the number of Gentiles as well. I don't know for sure, but I'm just guessing possibly 10% who are holy to the Lord...? I'm wondering if that is what a tithe represents or foreshadows. A remnant of firstfruits who are living sacrifices..?. A remnant doesn't call to my mind a big chunk, but more of a fraction.....and it is the part of the bolt of fabric that tends to look more frayed and is discarded by the world.

It is very sad to see how things are going and frustrating too when you know the solution to so many of the ills and evils and suffering we see increasing, is Christ and His gospel. Well, God is very much on His throne and has foreseen and foretold of a falling away and how it will go in the latter times....and I think of the early church being born into a culture under the boot of pagan Rome, influenced by pagan Greece and Babylon, and Christians at any time of history including now around the world in pagan countries. We can be encouraged by those who have gone before us and from knowing the Lord is not at all caught off guard or surprised by any of this and has also gone before us in another way.
