It's not important for me. Humans kill other humans for a variety for reasons. It seems to be important for you though.

It‘s very important to me.

The role of the followers of Jesus is to save souls, not to destroy them.

The role of the civil government is to protect souls, not to save them. That role requires destroying souls when necessary.

I bet Spain was nicer back then than it is today.

It wasn’t for those being tortured and killed by Christians.

“Tortured and killed by Christians” - how far away from the teaching of Jesus and the apostles we are.

The civil government is responsible for maintaining order and protecting its citizens. That hasn’t changed.

Because the church drifted away - in the 4th century - from the teaching of Paul on the relationship between the followers of Jesus and the civil government / state (Romans 13:1-4), what has changed is Christians acting in a way which Paul never imagined they would.

”We [Christians] do not use the weapons of the world.” That was then.

“Oh yes we [Christians] do, Paul.“ This is now.

I’m pointing people back to Paul.
