Silly question M...Then let’s put the question to you that @markalan put to me. How are you going to prevent it?
Riven, you really have me lol right now.Why are you asking everyone if they own a weapon? Go buy your own.

It is the reality of the world we live in. Being a pacifist in this world is a death sentence. It’s not the business of Jesus, the apostles, and the followers of Jesus.
What did I say earlier? It's a long thread. That’s not what you said earlier.

You’ve made the assumption that if I were armed with a weapon of the world that I would be able to do what even the police aren’t certainly able to do.
Even if you were to show up at a school crime scene armed to the teeth with firearms - and assuming the police didn’t mistake you for the assailant of the school children - there is no guarantee that you would be able to prevent even one child from being harmed. There is a high risk that you would accidentally kill or wound some of the children (and their teachers) yourself.
See the history of early Christianity.
You would even kill Christians. I wouldn’t.
In two recent cases here, they were only able to stop the killing by bringing down the perpetrators. Unfortunately, in both cases the police were late in arriving ... in one situation 6 were killed, in the other 15 were killed.
that is a cop out
We have no way of knowing who is a Christian and who is not ... but we can soon work out if innocent people are being killed.
You bring up the history of early Christianity to defend pacifism and yet ignore the two centurions that were commended by the Lord ... and Philippians 1:13 implies there were Christians in the palace guard ... probably the the best known soldier killed for his faith is Sebastian who was a serving officer in the Praetorian Guard while secretly helping Christians to evade capture.
As it was presented: Christians have a right to defend themselves, their families, and their country, from harm. You said you're okay with that so long as it doesn't result in the death of the one doing the harm. Which I think is really silly. In the scenario that’s been presented to me it was asserted that one must use a weapon to prevent innocent school children from being harmed. It has been presented as a moral issue.
How are you going to use a gun to prevent innocent school children from being harmed - assuming that it is a guaranteed outcome - if you don’t own a weapon?
I'm assuming you mean guns and not butter knives?I have several in my home.

What percentage of US adults own a gun? Do you know?
No, you have not addressed it, you just gave an IDK.I haven’t ignored the centurions. I’ve addressed it in this thread as well as in other threads on this forum.
Alright. So that's finally established. We're all allowed to have opinions. You’ve misstated what I’ve said. You also think Paul is wrong. Since my position is his, and you think it is silly, you think Paul is silly.
Which I think is anti-Christian.
Do you use the guns to spread the jam and the butter knives for self defense?Guns. But I also have butter knives.
No, you have not addressed it, you just gave an IDK.
I provided evidence from early Christianity which shows that there were Christian soldiers serving in the Roman army.

Do you use the guns to spread the jam and the butter knives for self defense?
I'm not trying to persuade you.Yes. But you’ve said that your opinions aren’t based on Christian arguments. That isn’t going to persuade me.
Then what are the guns for? Hunting? Because if you have to shoot sometime in self defense, there's a good chance they'll die.
If you review this thread, or search my posts in others, you will find that I have.

You said you did not know
Biblical justification for harming or killing followers of Jesus
Why do you want to continue to talk about this topic? As you know, I trace my spiritual roots back to the 1st century through the Anabaptists. For Anabaptists (and the earliest Christians), pacifism - not to be confused with passivism - is a major issue in Anabaptism. Blessed are the...www.christianityboard.com
No.Hunting and self-defense against animals, but I could see a scenario for using them in self-defense against humans. Have you ever watched the movie [Hoosiers?
So I was right. You're gonna use the butter knives.Yes. I wouldn’t shoot at anyone in self-defense.
