How often are you praying and reading the Bible?

Not often.

We do need to know what the Bible says so we can trust the Lord throughout our lives. Especially in times of trouble, knowing God's Word helps immensely.

If you would rather listen to books of the Bible, this is a good channel. Each book is a separate video. The man has a good voice and the readings go fast.

How do you feel about that?
I feel nothing. I'm apathetic towards most things today. I miss getting excited for things. The novelty of life has worn off. Maybe that happens when you're in your late 30's and your family has broken apart.

It's hard to care anymore about any damn thing. Much less reading the bible or praying to a god that may or may not be listening. So I drink and engage in other activities that make me feel at least something.

Do you think you are a Christian?

Presumably you thought you were a Christian a little over a year ago. How long have you been thinking that you aren’t?
Since at least June. It's been kind of rough these past few months.

I don’t know. Why do you post here all the time?
It beats the alternative. Have you taken a gander at the Christian section? I made a meme thread about the Iran war and nobody even bothers with it. No one wants to have fun. They just want others to pray for them because they stubbed their big toe this morning, or whatever. *Doctor please don't amputate* and the like.

I’m sorry to hear that. You really should discuss it with someone whom you trust and respect. I would also strongly recommend that you ask others to pray for you.

Have you taken a gander at the Christian section?

No. I have those forums closed on my screen.

You're early. You're not supposed to get that until you're in your late 50s and 60s and your career is effectively over, you can't physically do the stuff you used to be able to do, and all your friends have either died or moved on to the next stage of their lives.
So I drink and engage in other activities that make me feel at least something.
Back when I would drink, I'd do it so I wouldn't feel anything. If you want to feel something, that's a good reason not to drink.

I frequent the prayer forum, and I found myself actually caring about, say, the man with brain lesions, the woman fighting mental illness; a man whose theology convinced him he was unsavable, a woman trying to rebuild her life after a sequence of abusive relationships and bad decisions. Brother RLT has acquitted himself honorably in this thread; have you seen the pain he lives with? And I know brother Matthias's work with abused children. Some of those hit close to home. Caring hurts sometimes - and I'd do it again. For what it's worth, it was worth it all the while. Pain-avoidance doesn't work.

No one wants to have fun.

That's why I appreciate "The Happy Thread" and "The Happy Thread was dead; long live the Happy Thread!".

I've always been considered mature for my age. They don't tell you about the downside of that until it's too late. :funlaugh2

I like that loose feeling. I've had the misfortune of being involved in several car accidents over the years. Between the cervical and spinal issues, my muscles tense up involuntarily.

This is more my style...

Then @Riven find a church that is more in keeping with a reverent style of worship. I also like that type of quiet, reflective style of worship. It helps me to sense God's presence more.

Are you suffering from depression? Usually feeling nothing is depression. Also alcohol is a depressive, so it won't make you feel better.

Riven perhaps you should try to actively count your blessings. Think on things, even simple things like seeing, walking and hearing are blessings to be appreciated.

I wish I could walk like I did before, instead of being homebound. And I am alone with only two neighbors that check in on me about once a week. But I always pray the Lord to give me strength and help me to do what I need to do. And the Lord has helped me. So I am very grateful.

Riven you confessed that you were a Christian about Good Friday this year. Don't turn away from Christ. You need to pray and get into God's Word so you can learn what He promises you. You can't know someone unless you get to know Him...that means reading or listening to God's Word the Bible.

When you pray tell the Lord you feel apathetic or whatever else you feel. That is the way to communicate with God.

And even if you read just a few verses at a time, please do that. Or listen to Blessfully for the audio of the Bible.
