[37] And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
[38] This is the great and first commandment. Matthew 22:37-38 RSV

So how does one “love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind”?

You can’t....lt’s best to go get you some Grace .....

I can't figure out why people think it's impossible to be perfect. Jesus told us we needed to be just that. There are a handful of commandments to obey, and they aren't always easy, but when you sin, you repent and try harder.

The only “ Perfection “ That you or me or anybody else will ever know is the Perfection that is “ IMPUTED” to you because you Believed the Gospel ( 1Cor15:1-4 )

What does it mean to love God?

Much love!

I think the best way to show Love to God is to do His Will.....What is the Will Of God? “Believe on the One that He sent”.....that alone pleases God enough that He will forgive you for all of your sins ...

Try harder? To do what ? Keep the Law ? That is an impossible task, and even if you could you would find yourself barking up the wrong tree because “ By The Works Of The Law, NO Flesh will be Justified”
We are not Saved by “ Trying”..... We are Saved by “Trusting”..... put your Total Faith in the Shed Blood Of Jesus to Save you completely .....If you do that God will put His Spirit in you and you will “ find yourself” being more Obedient by accident than you ever were by trying so hard to sustain a high level of Performance lest you be cast into Hell.....
Love is what Christianity is all about .....Love is the Engine that drives Obedience ....trying to be obedient in order to get Saved or stay Saved is a Fool’s Errand .....everything you do with that confused mind- set is just a “Dead Work”..... as they say — “ Let go and let God”....

yes, you do. Everyone does.

Sin every Day? Close, but not cigar...how about every hour? We all have Secret thoughts that would shame Hell.....let’s thank God for His Grace and forget about trying to find a life of sinless Perfection while we sustain these weak, stumbling “ vessels of clay”.......We will know Perfection “ Over There”...

I see it like this: The Lord gave us two commandments from which hang all the others. All the others would be the Ten Commandments. Be aware that the Lord goes on to define those commandments (such looking lustfully at people, fornication, and homosexuality could be definitions of adultery).

For all of you people that are determined to have Rules and Laws to go by try this one—— It’s the only Law of Christ after His Resurrection that you will find in your Bible .....”Bear the Burdens Of others, thus fulfilling the LAW OF CHRIST”....... happy now ? ( side note: you could bear the Burdens Of others better than Mother Teresa did and it STILL would not save you —— two “ other things” Save you.....#1 The Shed Blood Of Christ #2 Your Trust in #1)

I think the trick here is that being perfect isn't as difficult as one might think. We have a few commandments to follow - that is all. I'm not saying the commandments are easy to follow, but I don't think this is nearly as hard as some people make it out to be.

If “ Commandment Following” was the Key to Salvation, Jesus shedding His Blood on the Cross was an unspeakable waste of time

agreed. But try getting some of these people to actually admit they sin every day. Its harder than it looks.

I know we've all sinned. I'd like a chapter and verse that says we all sin every day.

I don’t think there is a specific verse that makes that claim.....there is also no specific verse that maintains that pigs can fly....

If you can read the Sermon on the Mound where Jesus makes it clear that a lustful thought is just as damning as an actual act of Adultery and come away from that still thinking that you don’t sin every day .....you are as blind as the guy that believes in flying pigs....

The bottom line is this:

As long as you hold onto your OSAS/Eternal Security comfort blanket for dear life, we could go through a hundred pages of this back and forth and you still won't understand.

That's it. There's no getting through to you until you see that Christians can be lost. And the Bible is crystal clear on that.

In your opinion...your Confused opinion , I might add...

A True Christian Believer can never be Lost, anymore than a Non - Believer can be Saved

All I know is that when I sin, life gets sour, so I try not to sin.

That is Wisdom.....unfortunately, Wisdom or lack of it has nothing to with Salvation—- unless, of course, your “ Wisdom” has lead you to actually Believe thst Song you have sung many, many times—- “ Nothing But the Blood Of Jesus”.....Nothing.

What is there to even fight for if OSAS is true?

Christianity has nothing to do with “Fighting”—— Christianity is all about “ Resting” .....Resting in the Finished Work Of The Cross....God warns in the Book Of Hebrews That if we are not Resting in the Gospel we are guilty of Disobedience and Unbelief.....These types are just modern- day spiritual descendants of the Hebrews that died in the desert because of their Unbelief........ here’s you a news flash ! The “ Fight” is over and Jesus won the Fight.....we are to REST in His victory.....stop your Fighting ....stop your Trying....start Trusting....Nothing But The Blood...

Would it really make all that much difference, though?

Even if we removed the word entirely, we would still have an undebatable command from Jesus to emulate God Almighty; His holiness and separateness from all things evil or corrupt. No deceit, no rebellion from the ways God set forth as His Ways.

"Be as your Father in heaven is."

The 10 Commandments are God's template for how to be like Him in thought, word and deed.

Paul said that the Commandments are “ weak and useless” —- unless you know how to use them , and you clearly don’t ....The were given so that guys like you would “ close your mouth “ or in other words — “ Shut Up” about your ability to keep them....

The 613 Commandments ( not just Ten!) were given to show you that you can’t keep them and they were meant to “ take you by the hand “ and bring you to Jesus.....

Be a fool and try to keep them.....you can’t , and even if you “ could” you would be wasting your time .....” By The Works Of the Law, NO MAN will be Justified !” .....and “ Christ is the END OF THE LAW for Righteousness”..... just exactly what Bible have you been Reading? Your complete and utter cluelessness about True Christianity is astounding .....You are preaching A false gospel ....Both YOU and your Perverted “gospel” of “ Keeping the Commandments in order to be Saved” are “ Accursed”..... do yourself a big favor and read the first couple of chapters of Galatians ....

As
If you obey the Law of Love, you don't steal, and instead give. It's not that you don't steal because the commandment is to not steal, rather, you don't steal because you want others to have their things. It's not at all the same thing.

Much love!

As I have stated many times—- “ LOVE is the ENGINE that drives anything that is of Any importance to God” It is the correct “ Engine” or Driving Force behind Obedience—- “ Love God and live as you please” .....If you truly Love God , all the “Rules” Of Christianity will take care of themselves....You can Love God and live as you please because if you love God you will live a life that is pleasing to him....it will be automatic and natural and pleasing to YOU also....

And writing the 10 Commandments IN STONE? Does that distinguish them from the rest in any way?No, that's not what Scripture says.

"These are the words of the covenant, which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which He made with them in Horeb."
Deuteronomy 29:1

Also, the Commandments weren't just given to the tribes of Israel who were present at their giving, like so many false teachers proclaim.

"Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath; But with him that standeth here with us this day before the Lord our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:..."
Deuteronomy 29:14-15

Therefore, this proves that the 10 Commandments were given to all mankind ... for the duration of the existence of the earth.

There's just no getting around it.As proven above, none of the 10 Commandments were ever to be fulfilled, in the way that you mean - to be repealed. And they will never be repealed.

They were written in STONE for a very dramatically symbolic reason. And the event of the giving of them was second to none in its dramatic nature - again, for a very dramatically symbolic reason.

Even Hosea speaks of the forgetting of the Law as grounds for profound condemnation by God in His very well known quote.
Hosea 4:6

Also, the well known 'Lord, Lord' scenario speaks of "workers of iniquity." These are Christians who were as positive in their stance as you all are here today, teaching your no Commandments hog vomit, and the Lord turned them away because, as He stated, they were workers of iniquity.
Matthew 7:22-23

Iniquity is defined in the Bible as Lawlessness. Just as 1 John 3:4 defines sin as Lawlessness, the breaking of the 10 Commandments of God.

These people, like you all, were Law breakers and also taught to break the Law, that it wasn't binding upon Christians and that God no longer cares if you break His Laws that He made such unprecedented dramatic events around the presentation of.

That's the future for those who teach exactly what you all are teaching here today. You've been warned - with God Almighty as Witness.

You are unknowingly a great example of a follower of the Religion of Judaism.....You should read the letters of Paul sometime and learn how to switch from Commandment- Keeping Judaism to Grace Receiving Christianity .....You, like the Jews , have been tripped up by a “ Stumbling Block”

Paul knew that his Unbelieving , beloved Jewish Brothers were damned —- he even said that he would go to Hell in their place if he could ! Talk about Love ! Why were they being damned? Because instead of receiving the Free Gift Of Righteousness through a Faith in The Blood Of Jesus , they insisted on trusting in their OWN Righteousness t get them to Heaven.....how did they reason that ? Not by the Work Of The Cross and it alone, but by their ability to “keep the Commandments”.......What a way to “Trample the Blood Of Christ” and count it as “ meaningless “ .......

Deluding oneself into thinking that they can “ keep” the Commandments was a damnable Doctrine then , and it’s a damnable Doctrine now.....

Even Peter had to admit that the Law was an “impossible system”:that neither he nor his Jewish Forefathers could keep—— yet , some very Confused Posters here in these Forums think that THEY can keep them...worrisome indeed....

Obedience to God is far more pleasing than anything else we can do.
1 Samuel 15:22-23
Proverbs 21:3

Least of all just believing something. That's that ol' 'bare minimum Christian' plan.
James 2:19

The Bible makes plain that God holds us in High or Low regard based on our conduct upon the earth.
Matthew 5:19

And many of those utilizing the entry-level basic Christian plan will not be allowed entry into heaven.
Matthew 7:22-23
