n the above verse the translation has the article "the" in front of both resurrections..

But in Greek these are absent and better described as "a" resurrection.

The translations I checked (ASV, ESV, KJV) all use “the” in their English versions.

Straining at things like this is just pedantry.

YEAH they DID MISS the message . TO BELIEVE ON HIM . And they aint alone either epi .
Many today preach a CHRISTLESS CROSS ,
they teach some of the good he taught to do . WELL SO Did the religous jews teach to do some good .
BUT THEY DONT BELIEVE OR THINK ITS NECESSARY TO BELEIVE ON CHRIST JESUS .
KNOW ANYONE LIKE THAT EPI . cause i sure do . ITS YOU . you overlook the dire necessity to HAVE TO EVEN BELEIVE ON HIM
and try and preach SOME OF THE THINGS HE TAUGHT . IT AINT GONNA WORK OUT EPI .
ANYONE can teach a form of religoin , YET DENY THE POWER THEREOF .
MANY have and can have a form of godliness and YET DENY THE POWER THEREOF EPI .
SO HERE IS THE POWER OF GOD .
TRY PREACHING THAT and THEN teach others HIS REMINDERS .
HERES THE POWER YOU OMIT . FOR IT IS THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION . JESUS CHRIST .
ONLY YE WONT PREACH TO BELIEVE ON HIM . YOU preach at most a form of godliness , YET DENY THE ONLY NAME
WHEREBY ONE MAY BE SAVED . ITS LIKE putting the horse IN THE CART and then trying to PULL THE CART epi .
IT WONT WORK . You preach a lie my friend . A humanstic view of GOD , which aint GOD .
TIME to stop believing that other religoins can attain salvation . THEY CANT .
ALL must repent and BELIEVE ON JESUS . THEN THE REST WILL SURELY COME .
Epi , your cross you preach holds budda , muhammed and all other paths ON IT .
PROBLEM IS , ITS JESUS ALONE that must be preached . THE DIRE NEED to BELIEVE ON HIM
MUST BE THE FIRST THING TAUGHT . WITHOUT that , ITS ALL VAIN . LEARN YE THAT .
Yeah, epi, time to stop believing that other "religoins" can attain salvation . THEY CAN'T. In fact, there is no such thing as a "religoin"!!!

Seriously, I wouldn't pay the slightest heed to the rants posted by "amigo". Not only is his legalistic doctrine far off the mark of true Christianity, he is a hate-filled racist who won't even take the time to write understandable English. I feel very sorry for him! He has all the form of self-righteous, judgmental, condemnatory religion, but clearly has no understanding of the basis of Christianity. He has totally missed the basic axioms of loving your neighbor as yourself and not judging others, especially those whom Christ has accepted as His own.

He doesn't realize that he drives people away from Christ!!!

In Greek the definite article is "ho". Do a little research. Realize that the traditions of men follow a pattern...people tend to interpret the bible in a way that they can accept...rather than be faithful to the text.

Think about how the Jews translate their text to avoid Jesus.

Now think how Christian traditionalists do the very same thing...but in a way that doesn't offend the religious aspirations of clerics.

With just a little study, one can come to a more balanced view that doesn't always champion middle class religious aspirations.

Be one of the few.

"Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable; it keeps no record of wrongs" 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." Galatians 5:22a

If someone lacks these qualities, for example, the clearly self-righteous, judgmental, condemning "amigo de christo", then they have no right to call themself a Christian. In fact, they bring shame and dishonor on the Lord.

It is bad practice, and therefore ill-advised, to take one verse and make it cancel out all the others.

In the above verse the translation has the article "the" in front of both resurrections...as if these were definite. But in Greek these are absent and better described as "a" resurrection.

So then which ever resurrection we are part of...a resurrection of life is to be preferred over a resurrection of damnation.

In both resurrections there are both winners and losers. Besides that, the above verse is speaking of when ALL people are resurrected...at the GWT.

Just like in the judgment of the house of God ...there are winners and losers.

At the GWT...it is life and death. At the Bema seat judgment it is honour and dishonour. (blessing and cursing) Judgment begins at the house of God.

But if people want to prefer one verse over all others....go ahead.
heresy to the nth degree.

the GWT is for all unbelievers

the BEMA seat is for all believers

everyone at the bema seat will be saved, even as through fire

No one at the great white throne will be saved. they will all be cast to hell

You can always tell them by their fruit. If they attack good people than they're probably on the wrong side of the fight at minimum.

When the discussion becomes personal, then it is time to withdraw. The message that you are trying to communicate to others is simply just not getting through. No point banging your head against a brick wall.

I watched the Dr. Bob ?? video and came to the conclusion that he was a literalist and could not see any deeper meaning contained within the Parable of the Sower that was for the audience around Jesus at that time. That is one of the problems with "Christian" commentators when expounding upon Christ's parables. Their vision is so blinkered that they will not be startled. The light, because of their blinkers, will not be seen.

Are they resurrected from hell and judged then cast back to hell?
What is lacking is basic reading skills. And basic honesty.

If the text said something like..."and all who didn't have a seat on the bus had to walk"...NOBODY in grade school (or had seen an episode of Sesame Street) would think that EVERYONE had to walk.

But throw in self-affirming religion and all semblance of logic and reasonable understanding get thrown away.

At the GWT judgment.... whoever is not written in the Book of Life gets cast into the lake of fire.

Rev:15 15 "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

Does that mean everybody gets cast into the lake of fire? How much IQ and basic honesty must be lost in order to affirm a dogmatic religion?

The KEY to understanding any of God, his word or his Son must be by his SPIRIT.

11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

John 16:5-8 KJV
5 But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?

6 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

THE KEY ️

Engaging the parable...

What jumps out to me is that the rocky soil has the same destiny as the road - no life in it. So, we're down to three destinies: No life, unfruitful life, and fruitful life.

The thorns. We have these tough, thick, nasty, thorny vines in the woods here in North Carolina that are just about impassible on foot. What happens to this patch of ground? Does the Vinyard Keeper clear the ground and try to nurture the fig tree growing in it, to borrow an image from a different parable in Luke 13:6-9? Does the unfruitful tree get cut down and the whole patch of land get scorched? The parable of the Sower doesn't say, so I'll leave both possibilities open. Should I also leave open the possibility of continued existence as choked, unfruitful land?

Soils are what they are. Who's supposed to be breaking up packed ground, removing the stones, and pulling the weeds?

They say you shouldn't mix metaphors; does that guideline apply to parables too?

We see what the key is differently. Crazy maybe but about five years ago as I lay in bed one night, it was as if hearing His voice. Not an audible voice but it kept repeating all night where I could not turn it off, I couldn’t sleep. I won’t forget it. It was the same thing said over and over again. “I am the key that unlocks the parables.” Over and over “Christ is the key” …in “Learn of Me for I am lowly and of a humble Spirit” this wasn’t said but over and over “I am the Key.” It wouldn’t stop, no matter how much I tried to go to sleep. Maybe my subconscious had latched onto a thought and it kept me awake, but something did happen after in reading the parables with Christ as the lens, Christ as the center, the Key. To me it makes sense that He is the key. Because of even in the parable of the sower. It tells of a good heart and out from this New (not cursed)Ground, this New Creation of not cursed ground but able to receive the seed of God as the natural man cannot but Christ did …as His Heart and Mind (the Mind of Christ) did receive God, the Word, the seed planted of the Father …answers to me what He said must happen where He told His disciples why He spoke in parables, but that a time would come when He would no longer speak to them in parables; but show them plainly the Father and speak plainly to them no longer in parables. For me that puts an exclamation mark at the end of “how will you understand what I say unto you?” The answer being “you must be born anew of the Spirit of God.” “For it is The Spirit given of God.” The Spirit that was and is in Christ that reveals unto you what is the Mystery of the Kingdom of God, in the Son of God.

Know you not this parable? Then how will you know all parables?
By the Spirit of God, and not by men. “I am the Key.” “Learn of Me.” “Come all you heavy burdened and I will give you rest.” Then I will plainly show you the Father.

This is absolutely true. But to understand the meaning of the different destinies indicated in the parables requires not only experiencing Christ but also listening to His teachings. Parables are His teachings.

We are BOTH to believe INTO Him and ALSO listen to Him.

John 15:7
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you.

Your assessment is off.
"By their fruit you will know them!" It's that simple.
The fertile soil (the heart of an individual that God has prepared), receives the seed (Gospel) and continues to nourish that seed with the Word of God, so that it matures to the point of producing good fruit. The other's produce either no fruit or fruit that is not good. A bad tree cannot produce good fruit.
So the only soil that produces good fruit is the fertile soil. In this soil, prepared by God, we are born again. And these are the only individuals that go to Heaven.
Getting excited for short period of time, with skepticism and doubts that never seem to get resolved (because you never get serious about the Word), doesn't cut it.
God draws all men to Himself, but not all men fully believe. Could be their hearts aren't prepared yet and they need more preparation, so maybe later on in life it will happen ... or not! The LIGHT shines on our sins and they are exposed to us. The godly sorrow for our sins in part dissolves our resistance to God and enables us to draw near to Him for cleansing. He knocks and we open the door to enlightenment. We become persuaded that His Way is true and so choose to follow it, we're all in. We become hungry for the Word and this becomes our path.
The others never really get hungry, they don't really see that need for cleansing ... they remain in denial of their sins, nor have they really asked to receive cleansing. They don't nourish the seed, so never produce good fruit and fall away when they are finally tested. We will see many fall away when the GT tests their faith, because it wasn't real from the start.
Finally--the parable in verity!!!!!!!!:spring:
You see this all the time--some folks become Christian for awhile almost faddish, others are Christian till there are trials, and some others remain.

This IS the explanation, and I never knew anyone to try to make it say otherwise. I think it is extremely self explanatory.
Thanks Ronald!!!!

Well Mr E, you are the straw that broke this camel's back. I no longer want to be a moderator, thanks for helping to solidify my decision. I hope God blesses and keeps you in His hands.
You will not hear a peep from me any longer. Take care.

Aww… sorry you feel that way, but glad to play even a small part in unburdening you of something that caused you such angst.

What? Read your Bible! Jesus taught in parables so that some wouldn't understand, only those who God enabled. He later explained the parables to His disciples and, via the Bible, to us.

Right. That’s why he explained exactly how to understand those dual meanings. — the dual nature of parable is the dual nature of all things.

I have no idea what you're writing about. Jesus told truths in parables, so that only those whom God chose would understand them. Jesus explained the parables to His disciples and they have been written in our Bible so that we can understand them.

The key to understanding them is the Holy Spirit. And he said to them, “To you has been given the secret of the kingdom of God, but for those outside everything comes in parables," Mark 4:11 and Luke 8:10, "He said, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God, but to others I speak in parables, so that ‘looking they may not perceive and hearing they may not understand.’" And it has been given to us also.

Jesus taught his followers how to understand the parables. They recorded his teachings so that others including us, would also be able to understand them.

They were part of Captain Midnight’s Secret Squadron, tasked with going out into all the world to recruit others to join the club.

The bible is clear cut, there is very little in the need for interpretations. And only God can discern dreams and visions, parables.

Scripture is full of examples that contradict your belief here. It’s full of instances where God communicates through dreams and parables alike- which are spiritual in nature, but where He enables some to understand. One could argue that the bulk of scripture from Genesis to Revelation is comprised of such examples.
