I think this is the result of social media and how it has allowed small voices to become big with orchestrated campaigns. I remembr maybe 10 years ago this was beginning with organisations that specialised in creating content for political groups and parties. Then the major parties began to utilise this as it had a wider and personalised reach.
Its tapping into the same ideas of celebrity culture that has been influencing people for some time. Its strange how some can know more about the trivial events in celebrity land than facts about reality.
We have also seen how social contagions are created where groups create their own little worlds and people buy into the echo chamber.
I think primarily theres been a shift from using objective reality and facts to feelings and personal experience as the measure of reality. Thats how people can believe that men can become women desite biological reality. Or believe insane ideas because that is all they hear repeated. Social influencers are now the new celebrities people follow and believe every word.
But also we live in a postmodern relative world where truth and objective reality become an opinion rather than fact. A tool to oppress people. So the groundwork for making people open to be fooled was already being cultivated long ago as a cultural development in first critiquing traditional ideas and then rejecting them as some sort of newage artistic expression in literature.
Thats why when this was beginning 'words' became the defining reality. You could get cancelled for saying the wrong words and word meanings were recreated into new meanings that defined reality. From that it became language an dnarratives defining reality over all else.
But we have seen some pushback and the exposure of these unrealities. In some caes very obvious but in others as the video says people have a gut feeling that something does not add up. People were too afraid to speak up due to the repercussions but now more challenge the narratives and even live on media. Brings the reciepts.
This is the key and the more this is done the better. But I am not sure it is enough. I think when people come to vote they may not trust all these narratives as they have seen the damage done. But who knows in the virtual word we live in now what will happen where up is down and the truth is turned into lies.
