My definition of the elect might differ than yours.
I believe the elect have been chosen before the foundation of the Earth, for this one moment to stand up against the antichrist. No the elect are not Jewish they are Israelites and so are we in the USA or now pretty much around the world
I don’t believe the normal christian could do the job because they have no idea. The antichrist is coming first and coming soon / real soon.

The elect will be hated by everybody, including their family and friends How many Christians can handle that? How many Christians know that they need to take orders from the two witnesses when they show up? The elect will not be able to buy or sell. That’s why I have six months of food.

I think we must look at scripture to help us understand scripture. Where do we see the numbers 666 in scripture? Solomon's 666 talents of gold......and Nebby the King of Babylon's image of gold which dimensions were 60 x 6 x 6 cubits. Solomon certainly points to Jerusalem as being that great city, and the Temple of stone he built. Babylon captivity spiritually is talking about Israel/jerusalem taken captive by the king/god of this world....aka captive to deception (God sending strong delusion as judgment) and spiritually it means essentially that Israel/Jerusalem BECOMES Babylon. Talmudic Judaism is mixture of Babylon paganism with things of God.....which means it is not of God but another spirit (spirit/god of the world) we are to regard it as utterly PAGAN. Ditto with Roman Catholicism...it is mixture of things of God with paganism therefore we need to understand this means utterly PAGAN and that it is not of God period. Mixture = pagan. Because no man can serve two masters. When this Temple gets built in Jerusalem........we must not touch the unclean (impure/mixture) thing! Have nothing to do with it. There will be a strong cult like spirit and deception associated with it....that if it were possible would deceive the very elect. We need to understand and regard the Temple as being unequivocally pagan....it is not the pure old testament 'Judaism' of the bible and Abraham and Moses..... and remember that God didn't ask for a Temple of stone, but His true temple is made of living stones.

Solomon King of Israel became apostate and fell into sin serving pagan gods....understand the horrendous satanic nature of pagan practices....it means he was an antichrist and is a figure for one to come. Not everyone is foreknown by God and appointed to eternal life. But sometimes it takes a lot of preparing of the soil too, for the seed to be planted in. And not everyone is called to be an evangelist either, but we can all be witnesses and leave the rest to God.

Bible says, "Except the Lord keep the city the watchmen waken in vain". If the Lord has turned and become enemy to our respective "formerly Christian" nations there is no solution except the gospel and repentance. Otherwise judgment will happen according to the same pattern as Israel in her sin and apostasy, since everything concerning them was written for our example, admonition and warning. I believe strongly that we need to see God's hand in all these things that are happening......since He is the one ultimately who sends delusions and deceptions, a spiritual "captivity", as judgment. The one many people are seeing on the surface as being the solution is going to turn to them as the opposite if they make an idol out of him. We need to guard our hearts! Kind of both I believe, but I see it as the Lord being sovereign over everything that concerns a world that is under His wrath. There is a lot of unbelievable evil and wickedness around, that is for sure. But it's all under God ultimately, whether to bless or to curse, to judge and chastise, and for His purposes generally. Jesus said Pilate would have no power over Him except it be given by God....that is where our faith and trust needs to be also.

I think we do need to be awake and aware of what this world truly is (wicked and depraved), without wearing rose coloured glasses (think it helps us to be separate from the world, and to understand why the Lord is just in His judgments that may seem harsh at times, and also that we be prepared for the coming of the Lord and to leave this world however we leave it)), while our main focus is on looking up and on looking to see what the FATHER is doing. If the dogs are let loose to work their havoc, it is helpful for us to trust it is the Father doing/allowing it, for His ultimate purposes, and thus He is the one we appeal to for help when we need it, and He is able to strengthen and keep and protect His own, as well as to help those we pray for.
