The Result of This Thread . . . That's a fair question. This came up on another thread, what the result of the thread would be.

What exactly are we trying to do with threads we post? Each post we post? What happens after we click Submit? Are we submitted?

We either build up or tear down. Lead into captivity or lead into freedom. Make God look good or make me look good. Clarify or confuse. Inspire faith or instill doubt.

We are each of us accountable before God to . . . "let no corrupt word out of your mouth go forth, but what is good unto the needful building up, that it may give grace to the hearers" (Ephesians 4, LITV).

We are admonished to monitor every word that goes out of our mouths. Those that don't contribute positively to "the needful building up", we are not to say.

The measure of our words is this . . . do we give grace to those who hear us?

They were astounded listening to Jesus, and His gracious words. Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Words that do not bring grace are corrupt. Let's not use them.

Much love!

@marks Ideally we should all be listening to and following God as He leads us. This most certainly should include threads we initiate here or many of the posts we post here. What is God's purpose for this forum? has He not been involved in the very existence as well as in the continuation of this forum? So then again...

"But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." Matt 12:36-37

Yikes, I'm in trouble...I talk to myself allot! Sometimes I'd like to have my tongue removed but then, we have the thought before speaking anyhow so, good thing I'm losing my mind! :D

LOL!

I try to remember, as my mind is constantly filled with chatter, make that chatter to be sharing my life with God, praying and communing, meditating on His Word, and preaching to myself.

Much love!

Yeah ok . I see what you mean.
But then again that is sometimes hard to measure.
Someone might justify "truth telling" whereas another may say they are being insensitive.
Everyone has a slightly different preferred style of communication. Some prefer direct, others prefer indirect.
I am accused sometimes of being too direct. But in my mind I am trying to be transparent.
Anyway, it's not always as black and white as one would hope.

So very true!

I've had it happen too where in my mind I think I'm presenting myself a certain way, and then it becomes clear to me that other others are seeing me very differently.

I think getting into the habit of being honest with myself is key to being successful. I think another name for honesty about myself to myself is 'humility'.

I agree, it can be difficult to measure, how well I'm meeting this goal. Maybe it's easier to check my motives, and my attitude. A "superior, I'm going to show you" attitude, for instance, if I'm feeling that way, I'd do better to just log off.

I guess like most things, I'm stuck with giving it my best shot, and then seeing if I'm being fruitful. And I don't always know that either!

Much love!

Btw, on a serious note,.. it is really important how we treat our brothers and sisters in Christ and it's some great food for thought. Now if you'll just excuse me I'll be moonwalking out of this thread to this song because I'm not even sure if goofballs such as myself are allowed. :p
