The Fourth Commandment
Exodus 20:8-11 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
The sabbath is....rest, intermission. He became our rest, our Sabbath and that rest is for man....
Mark 2:27-28 And He said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
Hebrews 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into His rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. (3) For we which have believed do enter into rest, as He said, "As I have sworn in My wrath, if they shall enter into My rest:' although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. (10) For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His. (11) Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
When we enter "into His rest" we "ceased from his own works" so we must "labour therefore to enter into that rest." Our own works stop and we labour with His works to enter that rest, His Sabbath. What are His works?
John 6:29-33 Jesus answered and said unto them, "This is the work of God, that ye believe on Him Whom He hath sent." They said therefore unto Him, "What sign shewest Thou then, that we may see, and believe Thee? what dost Thou work? Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.' " Then Jesus said unto them, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but My Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He Which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
So we must labour in His works, not ours, to enter His rest...the Sabbath. The work of God is to believe on the Savior and He is the Word. We are to labour in the Word, sharing knowledge and understanding of Him with others.
1 Timothy 6:18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
11 Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
James 2:17-18 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

That is the Sabbath...the Rest, that we are to keep forever. What of the Sabbath...the intermission?
Exodus 31:14-15 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
The intermission is a shadow of the millennium. We are to labour with His works before that day so we may enter that Sabbath. When the time of the millenium arrives it is too late to do His works, (believe in Him). Those that (defiled the sabbath/defiled Him) by not believing, are "put to death." They are considered the spiritually dead during the millennium. [Rev.20:5] They are the souls that "shall be cut off from among his people." They will work during that sabbath/millennium and "shall surely be put to death," meaning....shall be tested by Satan. Death is one of Satan's names and those that didn't enter His rest, are the spiritually dead, and will be tested by again facing Satan's deception (Death's deception) when he is released for a short time. [Rev.20:7-10]
Then...the great white throne judgment of God when the spiritually dead stand before Him....
Revelation 20:12-13 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God;: and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
Writing this thread brought more understanding of the following.....
Acts 1:12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.
The mount of Olives is symbolic of the elect, those that entered His Sabbath. Jerusalem is symbolic of the righteous....those that for whatever reason, being misled, etc., didn't enter the Sabbath, didn't keep His works to the end...they fell into apostasy. They are "a sabbath day's journey" or....the millennium away.....from becoming the mount of Olives.
