Hi there,

So Psalm 118:22 talks about the "stone which the builders rejected" conveying something about Christ. The idea is the builders wanted to build a bridge, but couldn't get the two sides of the arch underneath the bridge to lean against each other - the 'cornerstone' was needed. This cornerstone, looked like its sides were uneven and the builders rejected it at first, but then the realised that the unevenness was perfect for sitting between different sides of the arch. The cornerstone made the bridge stable. Hence their rejection was proven to be unfounded. But there is a parallel to this story-in-a-verse, the stone which the builders doubted.

The stone which the builders doubted, looked disjointed. While the cornerstone was a metaphor for Christ and the establishment of a bridge to heaven, the stone which the builders doubted, had a function which pointed to the Holy Spirit - whom Jesus had promised He would send from the Father in Heaven. This saving grace is that like the leaning tower of Pisa, the Devil's kingdom was in danger of toppling over and the builders needed a way to stop it from leaning to one side; the builders doubted a disjointed stone could stop the tower from leaning too far, because it was disjointed. But it still worked! The Holy Spirit was able to stop people worrying about sin and gave them hope of escape, by wedging Himself between the Devil's sin and the world - a remarkable feat!

So it is that the doubt in the disjointed stone, has been proven to be unfounded. The Holy Spirit can be trusted to defend us before the Devil, without attacking the Devil to make a point. This is miraculous! That the Holy Spirit can do this, is because He has been advising God on what Creation should be given to receive from even a little before Creation began. The Holy Spirit does not want glory for this, it is His one desire that people be given freedom to praise God. The whole truth about what God has built and how is becoming clearer, that the Cornerstone is in place is just the beginning! By understanding that the messengers of God each have a structural definition given to them, allows us to more boldly witness on their behalf - and on their behalf, meaning also for God (for God sent them).

I hope this has been of some encouragement to you.

God bless.
