The tripartite being is completed by Christ in them, Colossians 2:10. A tripartite being has a body, it has a soul, and it has a spirit. That's what makes them tripartite body soul and spirit. The Corinthians says we are saved in spirit, being saved in soul, and will be saved in body.

10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us; - 2 Corinthians 1:10.

The longer you look at understanding the tripartite being you see you cannot move on in God until you do understand it. Why would that be? Because Paul deals directly with all three when he writes. So knowing tripartite is one thing and then being able to divide them is another. Your body is always easy to divide from the other two because if has all kinds of ways to speak. One is feel, you can feel your body you can see your body. It hurts sometime and cries sometime and malfunctions and can be easily displaced. So your body will be easy to divide from the rest of you. Your body will take on a different look on the resurrection morning.

It is the remaining parts of the tripartite being that will give you the most trouble, at least you're soulish part of the being. Your 'joined unto spirit' can give you trouble at times because there will be moments that spirit playing second fiddle to your soul will get challenged and it can be a severe challenge. You can only live by soul for so long and you will go through some training to learn you are more than just body and soul.

Now the soul is the organ of expression, it is your creation, the you part that is to express spirit part. Now spirit part is where the life is, to express life you must express spirit because that is who you are now. There is no life in soul, soul only expresses the life that is in the body. The two, soul and spirit can and must be divided according to scripture for a believer to live. I'm not talking a breathing life, I'm talking about spiritual life. Breathing life is worthless with no spiritual life.

The best definition in scripture of spiritual life is "Christ in you the hope of glory."

If you have ever entertained the thought "what does God really want in all of this creation stuff, what is he really after."
Your answer is found in Colossians 1: 27.

" Christ in you the hope of glory "
