I agree that the two olive trees/branches in Zech. 4:11-14 are the ONLY TWO who are anointed.

I agree that the two olive trees/branches in Rev. 11:3-4 are the ONLY TWO who are anointed.

I agree that Zech. 4:14 and Rev. 11:4 say the same thing.

I agree 100%

I agree 100%

I agree 100%

I disagree 100%. You see them as being still to come in the far future. I see them as
John the Baptist for 6 mos. and
Jesus for 3.0 yrs.= total of 1260 days) who already came.

(It's all about how one understands the 70th week and what happened in the midst of that week, in Dan. 9:24-27.)

Yes, I agree.

Sorry, I disagree. In Zech. 4:11 THERE IS ONLY ONE CANDLESTICK.
But then in Revelation 11:4 THERE IS NOW TWO CANDLESTICKS. WHY????
That is the question of which I ASKED YOU in my post #417, and still you don't see it, to give your answer!!

No comment at this time, until you answer of why Zech 4:11 says ONE candlestick and Rev. 11:4 says TWO candlesticks.
Thanks for the response

You pretty much agree, however you believe the (Two Witnesses) of Revelation 11 were fulfilled in John the Baptist and Jesus

I disagree with your claims of John and Jesus being fulfillment

No comment at this time, until you answer of why Zech 4:11 says ONE candlestick and Rev. 11:4 says TWO candlesticks. Rom. 11 is your clue.

There are 7 lamps in Zech. There are 7 in the first part of Rev, and Rev 11 speaks of two. You are getting confused due to the poor English translations. The "one candlestick" in Zech is actually a Menorah with 7 lamps on it. The "candlesticks" in Rev are lamps.

I believe that you are "crossing wires" here to support an interpretation.
In 2 Chro. 4:20 and Zech. 4:11, we are given the precise Hebrew meaning of what a candlestick (H4501) is.
Strong's Number - H4501
Hebrew: מנרה מנורה
Transliteration: menôrâh menôrâh
Pronunciation: {men-o-raw'} men-o-raw'
Definition: Feminine of H4500 (in the original sense of H5216); a chandelier: - candlestick.
KJV Usage: candlestick (40x).
Occurs: 40
In verses: 31

In 2 Chro 4:20 and Zech. 2:4 we are given the precise Hebrew meaning of what a lamp (H5216) is.
Strong's Number - H5216
Hebrew: נרה נר ניר נר ניר
Transliteration: nîyr nir nêyr nêr nêrâh
Pronunciation: {neer} {neer} {nare} {nare} nay-raw'
Definition: From a primitive root (see H5214 and H5135) properly meaning to glisten; a lamp (that {is} the burner) or light (literally or figuratively): - {candle} {lamp} light.
KJV Usage: lamp (35x), candle (9x), light (4x).
Occurs: 48
In verses: 42

Therefore the two candlesticks in Rev. 11:4 are two candlesticks.
4. These are the two olive trees [prophets], and the two candlesticks [churches- OC. and NC.] standing before the God of the earth.

The candlestick churches would be NT Christian churches, likely two of the 7 from the first chapters of Rev.

7 lamps in Zech, two in Rev 11. They are oil lamps. The English translation of "candle" is not an accurate choice.
The scripture that presents the truth in detail about the God's two "anointed" "witnesses" is Zech. 4
11 Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees [branches] upon the right side of the [one] candlestick [Menorah] and upon the left side thereof?

12 And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes [throats] empty [pour out] the golden oil ["the Spirit/words of truth"] out of themselves?
The candlestick churches would be NT Christian churches, likely two of the 7 from the first chapters of Rev.
I do not see two of the "seven churches" in Rev. being singled out for any specific reason.

That is why I compare the ONE Menorah candlestick in Zech 4:12, with the TWO Menorah candlesticks in Rev. 11:4. To me, they are indeed symbolic of churches, but in the form of that which  was once the Old covenant church and then later the New covenant church, which now is.

Because Zech. 4:12 reveals that there was at that time under the OC only ONE symbolic candlestick (Menorah), I see that in Rev. 11:4 there THEN became TWO symbolic candlesticks (Menorahs).

The seven lamps are the people who lived under the TWO churches of the OC. and the NC., in which the two olive trees/branches [prophets] emptied/poured the golden oil ["the Spirit of truth"] into, from out of themselves.

Does it not matter that you give complete disregard to Zechariah 4:11-14 and it's interpretation of Revelation 11:3-4, perfectly describing these two future prophets that will be physically upon this earth?

Does it not matter that you take (Two Literal Prophets) that have literal physical bodies that die, that are raised from the dead as a literal world watches, and you remove this literal biblical fact with symbolic allegory claiming (The Two Witnesses/Prophets) represent the church?

Once Again no mention of the "Olive Trees" in Zech 4:11-14 or "Items 1 & 2" seen below, because it opposes your claim of "The Church" being the (Two Witnesses) this being 100% "Wrong"

Why do you ignore the facts as described below in Zechariah 4:11-14 regarding the "Olive Trees" being interpreted as (The Two Anointed Ones) before your eyes and not one mention of this fact "Why"?

Why do you ignore the facts in Revelation 11:3-4 that (The Two Witnesses) are described as being "Two Olive Trees" (These Are The Two Olive Trees) before your eyes and not one mention of this fact "Why"?

Why do you ignore the facts as described below regarding items 1 & 2?

(Items 1 & 2 Below, Same "Exact" Description In Parallel Teachings "Fact"!)

1.) Zechariah 4:14 and the words: (that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.)

2.) Revelation 11:4 and the words: (standing before the God of the earth.)

The interpretation for Revelation 11:3-4 is clearly given in Zechariah 4:11-14, these are parallel teachings, scripture interprets itself

Olive Trees, Olive Branches = The Two Anointed Ones, Who Are Described In Revelation Chapter 11 As Having Literal Bodies That Die, And These Dead Bodies Are Raised From The Dead Before A Literal World Watching

(These Are The Two Annointed Ones) = (The Two Witnesses) = (Two Prophets) Literal, Physical, And Upon This Earth, Rev 11:10

Zechariah 4:11-14KJV
11 Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof?
12 And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?
13 And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
14 Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.

Revelation 11:3-4 & 10KJV
3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.

10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
I asked "Is it just too difficult for you to address why you are using a passage that references ONE candlestick in support of your understanding of the two witnesses being called TWO candlesticks?". Based on your response here, your answer is yes, it is too difficult for you. You have no explanation at all for why the two witnesses are called two candlesticks. Unlike you, I'm not afraid to give an explanation for why they are called two olive trees AND why they are called two candlesticks.

Re-read the letters to them. Two are different from the rest.

This is correct. The candlesticks are actually oil lamps and those symbolic churches. The two olive trees provide symbolic oil to create the fuel for the flame of God's light and truth.

You are just a repetitive robot. I'm not entirely sure if you are human or not. You just copy and paste the same things over and over again. So, should I just assume that you have no explanation at all for why the two witnesses are called two candlesticks then? I will assume that since you repeatedly fail to address that.

  • This is correct. The candlesticks are actually oil lamps and those symbolic churches. The two olive trees provide symbolic oil to create the fuel for the flame of God's light and truth.
Candlesticks are candlesticks, and lamps are lamps. Candlesticks are the hardware FOR the golden oil and the burning lamps.

For understanding "the lamps", God's light and/or flame, was visibly demonstrateded in the book of Acts 1:1-3.
3. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of FIRE, and it sat upon each of them.

THE FUEL of those "tongues of fire",
is symbolically revealed as being the "golden oil" that is emptied/poured out upon converted Christians, from the two olive trees/branches.

The golden oil is "the spirit of truth", aka God's Holy Spirit, that spoke through the temporary visitation upon the OC prophets, while under the OC.
However, after Jesus' death and resurrection, under the NC. God's Holy Spirit took up permanent residence within the NC. saints.

Ever since Pentecost, the Gift of the Holy Spirit is now dwelling within the physical body (the hardware) of every converted believer in Christ.

Zech is talking about one metal oil device that has 7 lamps where a wick burns and makes a light.

Rev speaks of 7 oil lights but they are individuals rather than 7 in one device. Rev 11 focuses upon two of these lights. "candlestick" is not a good translation because candles in English are wax but these are not burning wax. There is not a situation where one "candlestick" is in Zech and then two in Rev 11. It was always 7 on one device in Zech, and 7 individuals in Rev then a focus on two of the 7 in Rev 11.

EBs reply: In reference to Zecharia 4:12, there is nothing there about "a wick burning by a wax candle". In fact, it's about "golden OIL", which are the words of the Spirit of truth, being emptied from out of the two olive trees/branches, which is the fuel for the burning lamps.

I didn't say that. I specifically said there is no wax.

Waiting? LOL! As if I haven't already done so many times (I have). Do you just forget everything I tell you? Within the very same book as we find the description of the two witnesses, candlesticks symbolically represent churches (Revelation 1:20). You can't ignore that. I believe John would be consistent in his use of terms in the book, so the two candlesticks represent two churches or congregations that witness together. The reference to two olive trees gives us the identity of the two congregations witnessing together as one. In Romans 11 Paul wrote about the cultivated olive tree with its natural branches representing Israelite believers and it has branches grafted into it from the wild olive tree that represent Gentile believers. So, the branches from the two olive trees represent Jew and Gentile believers in the church. So, you have the two congregations, Jew and Gentile believers, witnessing together. The two witnesses symbolically represent the witness of the New Testament church consisting of Jew and Gentile believers.

There ya go, the standard reformed preterist answer, "Symbolism" being drawn down to the (Two Witnesses) being the New Testament church Jew/Gentile?

Your "Symbolic"explanation is standard reformed theology, and it's 100% "Wrong"

There ya go, the standard reformed preterist answer, "Symbolism" being drawn down to the (Two Witnesses) being the New Testament church Jew/Gentile?

Your "Symbolic"explanation is standard reformed theology, and it's 100% "Wrong"

Once Again And Again, The Two Olive Trees Are (The Two Anointed Ones) That Are (The Two Witnesses) You're Not Going To Wave Your Magic Wand And Divert To Your Private Interpretation When its Already Given, Trying Desperately To Ignore God's Words Of Interpretation (These Are The Two Olive Trees) Done Deal!

The (Two Witnesses) in Rev Chapter 11 are given a detailed description, as they have literal physical bodies that die, and they lay in a literal Jerusalem street, as a literal world watches celebrating their deaths, Literal, Future, Unfilled

Your not going to wave the reformed magic wand and claim they are candlesticks and "Symbolically" represent the Church or Old/New Testaments, "Removing" the Future, Literal, Physical seen, ain't gonna happen

Zechariah 4:11-14KJV

14 Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.

Revelation 11:3-4 & 10KJV
3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.

In my post #419, I firmly stated that I believe John the Baptist and Jesus are:
1. The TWO anointed ones of Zech. ch. 3&4.,
2. The TWO witnesses of Rev. 11, and therefore ever since the death and resurrection of Jesus, they both were:
3. The TWO last prophets of God, in "these last days"', as spoken of in Deut. 18:15; Malachi 4:5; Acts 2:17; Heb. 1:2. and Luke 7:28- (be attentive to Jesus' words: "but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he").

OK you've stated that several times, and I responded with disagreement a couple times

John the Baptist nor Jesus Christ brought fulfillment as being the (Two Witnesses) as seen in Revelation Chapter 11, the events seen are future and are unfulfilled, literally prophets that have physical bodies that die

Jesus Is The Lord

The two witnesses in Rev 11 are two churches AND two anointed prophets so two prophets cannot be the two olive trees and two churches. The two olive trees feed oil/truth to the two churches/oil lamps. They cannot be both nor can they be Jesus and John for all the numerous reasons everyone has provided.
