To confirm that they are two MEN all you have to do is read Revelation 11:7-12.

That is the two prophets, who are the two olive trees. That's one witness. The second witness are two candle sticks which are churches.

Church there means the people of the church not a building. Yes a church in that sense can be killed and resurrected but the fate of the two churches is not mentioned. We are only told what happens to the two olive trees/prophets. They feed olive oil to the churches. Candlestick is a bad translation. It's actually oil lamps. The olive trees provide the olive oil that allows the church people to have the light of Christ like in the parable of the ten virgins.

If there were 200,000 people around, would that change more people's minds to choose death? The only way to be resurrected is having one's head chopped off. How are you going to cram 2 billion dead people in Jerusalem for 3.5 days? You accept the earth is devoid of people. The tribulation is the end of life for nearly 8 billion people. So having only 2 individuals preaching the truth, whose converts have all cut their heads off, seems reasonable. How is that church going to still persist as 2 billion strong?

I'm thinking it's not just a few people that this is about. John's measuring rod, the Two Witnesses, are found in the Law and the Prophets. The Old and New Testaments. Think why Two Witness were required to settle a matter in the OT. Someone could be due to be stoned to death over a transgression. This time it's at the end of the world, the culmination of the age when all the inhabitants are dealt with.

During the time they are prophesying, the Two Witnesses have the power to shut up the heavens so it will not rain, and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want.

But if the Two Witnesses were something like the Law and the Prophets, the Old Testament and the New Testament, the enemies of a Holy Spirit inspired Bible would encompass their opposition from all times, From Cain and the Days of Noah, until the last person born in the tribulation.

The Bible speaks of this reaching it's crescendo after the thousand years are finished. New Jerusalem comes to earth. The lost are brought back and surround the camp of the saints.

You are deciding the “what is left”...ie “leaves” is the only option according to your understanding.

The Church Building in Smyrna and Philadelphia, (as well as the others precisely mentioned) had congregations with individual men. Where those Church Buildings were located...is incidental to the individual men.

The fire that comes out of the Bible's mouth that kills it enemies doesn't kill people during the thousand years, only after they are brought back to life during the second resurrection after the thousand years are finished. That is how they are doomed to be killed.
