Actually they do. Deeper in (and sometimes even at the surface level), Mormons believe that we all pre-existed as spirits and were, in fact, the angels that either stayed loyal to God in the first war or else rebelled and were cast out of heaven (the planet Kolob). info courtesy of Jack T. Chick.

Now I know that it is a common tactic of Mormons to act insulted when we state the truth of the matter; that Mormonism hides its true beliefs from the general public and slowly gives their doctrine to new converts as they feel they are able to receive it.

Since the doctrines of Mormonism are so out there that if they were given to people all at once, no one would convert.

Elihu rightly told Job that he wasn't righteous in this: that he justified himself rather than the Lord (Job 32:1-2). This is not something that Elihu originally said but something that he simply observed.

    Have you never read:

1Ti 6:20, O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

Real scientific fact does not show an old earth. When we landed on the moon, they expected the space dust levels to be astronomical; but such was not the case. The amount of space dust reflected the moon having existed for about 6,000 years; which is right around the spectrum that creation scientists have speculated the age of the earth also to be.

But I am not an expert on these things so don't expect me to to do well in any kind of debate with you. I will leave those things up to the experts (like Ken Ham).

The War in Heaven and rebellion of some angels is right there in the Bible, and believed by vast majority of Christians. Now of course, there's different takes on it (as there are most aspects theology). The take being discussed in this thread is not like the one believed the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Nor is it like the silliness taught by Chick and other "anti-cultists" (folks whom somehow consider beliefs covered in first two introductory lessons to be "deep" and "hidden"--- it always get a laugh and an eye rolls put of me).

I don't agree with the OP's take here. But I still gave it a read, listening, and coming to a better understanding of what he/she believes.

I see it as silliness too. Nevertheless the silly thing is that what Chick is saying (i.e. Kolob) is actually a "secret" of the upper eschelons of the Mormon church.

You probably weren't made aware of that doctrine because you're too low on the totem pole. ;)

    Except I've been there.

Here's the thing that's so funny about "anti-cult" material (especially like Chick stuff which is extra bad): they tell a person XYZ, employing lots of scare and shock tactics, but seldem any accurate facts (XYZ doesn't actually match reality). There's a strong aversion to fact checking and lots about blindly following the "anti-cult" leader. Typical lines about "oh they're hiding things from you, only I will tell you the truth" and threats about damnation if you go check for yourself (lines about walking off cliffs, etc). It's completely steeped in fear.

I personally just... call me crazy but that's not my way of doing things. I'm an OCD honest person and completely into fact checking. When I want to know something, I plop by butt on their pew, listen, and then ask questions. I've done so with dozens of groups. I don't have to fear getting my facts straight, even if it's a belief system I totally find contrary to the Bible. For a different example, this thread I've read through, and I find it interesting, though I don't agree with it. I do appreciate the thoroughness in which the OP does talk about things though. I talk to all sorts of people. And I likewise answer all sorts of questions with OCD honesty. I'm not play to any horror-track or railraoad or bully anyone into any belief or "just take my word for it".

JustByFaith, if you want to be a disciple of Jack Chick, then you can go for it. It's your choice. I think it's foolish, but it's not my choice. It's not like you need my permission or anything.

It's CDO...you have to put it in alphabetical order. :D

Personally, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. But I consider that Jack Chick was also one of His disciples; and it is written,

Jhn 15:20, Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

Now I am certain that Jack Chick may have read that somewhere along the line and taken it as a personal promise; just as I did when I read the same verse.

So, if they keep Jesus' saying, they will also keep Jack Chick's saying (whether they are a disciple of Jack Chick, or, more aptly, a disciple of Christ)...and they will also keep my sayings.

If they persecuted Jesus, they will also persecute Jack Chick...and me.

Because I claim that promise for myself...I have laid hold of it by faith (see Hebrews 11:33, 2 Peter 1:3-4, 2 Corinthians 1:20, Romans 4:20-22) .

If you want to spend your time praying that I stop believing a bunch of stuff I never believed in the first place, that's your choice. It's not like you need my permission.

If you don't believe in Mormonism, why do you call yourself a Mormon and promote their doctrines?

Then the High Priest of Mormonism doesn't believe in Mormonism as he has been taught it.
