Over turn the tables .

A mandate to prevent worship in church and some cases even the parking lot .

It raises the question, does God only forgive if we forgive? I think God forgives before we even realise or ask for forgiveness; Isn't that good news?
I think Jesus meant this by 'he sends his rain and sun on the evil and good alike' He doesn't withdraw kindness because we are not on his side or the side of others.

The matter of forgiveness is more like cause and effect ie, extend kindness to others and you will be able to see/ understand the kindness God extends to you/ all; withhold forgiveness/ kindness and you will live in doubt, fear, insecurity and the inability to trust/ unbelief......and be very 'religious' as a cover.
Interesting.
God won't withhold forgiveness forever, but...

Matthew 7:2 NIV
For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged,
and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Could you get a tune to fit this TP?

NORMAL OPERATION

With practised smiles and trendy garb
‘fine thank you how are you?’
is heard amongst ‘together folk’
we’re well when we are blue

The water’s tested as we go
to see how we will fare
it’s safe to take the plunge I hear
our judgement frail and bare

In nakedness we interact
with covered eyes and ears
alone we walk amongst our walls
of hate and hurt and fears

The cynic speaks, the charged refrain
just take your angles home
we’re well you know, be positive!
viscerally I groan

Ahhh, flatter me with charming words
the ones I want to hear
transparency does not belong
to them, of that I’m clear.

The song, the song, ten thousand tongues
their mouths they have no lie
the truth, whatever it may be
a compromise means die

So just as steel will sharpen steel
one hand will wash the other
a thirsty, hungry, searching soul
is one I call my brother.
I do the opposite, I write word to music or side by side with a composer.
But the music I don't write but St. SteVen
Does from what I was reading :)

This begs some questions about how to best handle the abuse of others.

- When do we turn the other cheek? And...
- When do we turn over some tables?

Jesus did both.

Acts 4:18-20 NIV
Then they called them in again and commanded them
not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.
19 But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes:
to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges!
20 As for us, we cannot help speaking about
what we have seen and heard.”

Romans 12:19-21 NIV
Do not take revenge, my dear friends,
but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written:
“It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[a] says the Lord.
20 On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”[b]
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Worth exploring. How so?

First I also asked my husband: Turn the other cheek, or turn over some tables? - When do we do what?
His response is “it depends on what we say or believe is the Fathers House.”

I can almost hear to turn the other cheek is the same as to over turn tables. Same as the cross where God loved us while we were yet sinners, over turns table of stone. Did the Father only desire to see His Son take a beating, a mocking, a scourging being humiliated as the Lamb of God, or was this the same as overturning the tables of stone?

Do these instructions over turn tables of stone Matthew 5:39-44 But I say unto you, That you resist not evil: but whosoever shall hit you on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. [40] And if any man will sue you at the law —1 Corinthians 6:7-8 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because you go to law one with another. Why do you not rather take wrong? why do you not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded? [8] Nay, you do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.
—and if any man sue you at the law and take away you coat, let him have thy cloak also. [41] And whosoever shall compel you to go a mile, go with him two. [42] Give to him that ask you, and from him that would borrow of you turn not you away. [43] you have heard that it has been said, You shall love your neighbour, and hate your enemy. [44] But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
…what if all this ‘if your enemy is hungry feed him, if he thirst give him drink’ is overturning tables of stone which is the same as be you as the children of your Father. 2 Corinthians 10:4-6 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) [5] Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; [6] And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Consider how we jump on Jesus going into the temple and whipping and chasing those out that bought and sold …what house was Jesus angry over being turned into a den of thieves that devoured widows houses? was His over turning the tables pointing to their hearts of stone? …did He begin to clear the path of stones? Isaiah 62:10-12 Go through, go through the gates; prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway; clear it of stones; lift up a signal over the peoples. [11] Behold, the LORD has proclaimed to the end of the earth: Say to the daughter of Zion, "Behold, your salvation comes; behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him." [12] And they shall be called The Holy People, The Redeemed of the LORD; and you shall be called Sought Out, A City Not Forsaken.

In 2 Corinthians 3:1-6 can it still be true tables of stone are overturned? does God over turn tables of stone? Does He remove the tables of stone? Does He clean His House?
‘Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you? [2] You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: [3] Forasmuch as you are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. [4] And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: [5] Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; [6] Who also has made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter kills, but the spirit giveth life.’

I’m sorry I know that is a lot. I’m also considering the significance of to turn the other cheek and to over turn tables. You asked how do we know when to do what. To me the crucifixion where He submitted even unto death, humiliated but endured for the joy set before Him…it did over turn more tables of stone than that one time written of which men point to where he saw them turning the House of God into a den of thieves. Thieves who come not to save but comes to steal, kill, and destroy.

There is a song about How God still overturns stones..How He is still Rolling Stones. He is still opening the graves. To me it needs to be considered with what the Spirit says where the long passage in the Old Testament speaks of there is a time and season for all things done under the sun. there is a time to cast stones away, and a time to gather stones. The word speaks of Living stones gathered no more to be cast out but to build. how does this overturning of stone tables not remain in harmony with all Jesus instructed as His Fathers ways are not our ways, and His Father’s thoughts are not our thoughts. His are Higher. Does “turn the other cheek” and “over turn tables” contradict one another, or are they the same? personally I think they are the same.
The Lamb of God overturned men’s ways, and men’s thoughts contrary to God. The Lamb!
