Understanding Revelation 12 is the key to understanding Bible prophecy. Simply stated, it is a parable which summerizes Bible prophecy. The rest of the prophetic scriptures provide the details which are not included in Revelation 12. The following is the message within Revelation 12.
According to this parable, the woman is going to go to a place "prepared of God," where she will be "fed" and protected from the attacks of Satan for the 1260 days of the GT. Revelation 12 states this twice.
Revelation 12:6And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
14And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
Unable to affect the woman, Satan will then turn his anger against the rest of Christendom which are identified as the remnant of her seed.
Revelation 12: 15And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. 16And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. 17And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
So according to Revelation 12, Christendom will be divided, during the 1260 days of the GT, into two groups:
1. Those who go to a place "prepared of God" (the woman and the manchild), where they will be "fed" and protected from the attacks of Satan for the 1260 days of the GT.
2. Those who don't go to the place "prepared of God" (the remnant of her seed), and will not be protected from the attacks of Satan for the 1260 days of the GT.
This is the message of Revelation 12 and a rough overview of Bible prophecy. For those interested, determining the location of the place "prepared of God" can be found in the rest of the prophetic scriptures.
