Self-condemnation and self-termination are why it states in Psalm 109:8“Let his days be few; and let another take his office.”
How do you know “let his days be few; and let another take his office” is solely speaking of Judas?

Countless times the word speaks of casting down that which is lifted up and setting up that which is low. Bringing down that which is high, and setting up new in its place. Even plunking up that which the Lord did not plant, and planting that which will never be plucked up again. All through the word it speaks of days being shortened, or cut short.

Concerning the topic of the son of perdition, or the spirit of the antichrist, or the devil…if I’ve understood you correctly then it’s overall and collective … not some supernatural monster. Which leads me to think it can’t just come down to only being about Judas?? “Let his days be few; and let another take his office.”

Sin was already in the world, before Noah's Ark was built.
How do you know?
Its becasue the entire would of Humans who were on the outside of Noah's Ark, were being Judged for theirs.
And God didn't miss even one.

Same as you find in Gen 19, with the Homosexuals - Perverts......being burned into black ash that you can see for yourself if you come to Israel and go to that exact place.
Its not a MYTH.. or an Allegory........and its not symbolic.
Its black ash.....where God Judged Perverted Sexuality, to DEATH.

Gay Pride Parade anyone?

Not a good idea to support it or be one of those.

Now......The Cross is where Jesus is judged for ALL our Sin., so that we will never be found judged in Eternity, if we are born again when we die.
And Being Born Again.... is not talking about being Water Baptised and Religious and trying to be like Christ.
Agree “and being born again….is not talking about being water baptized …” you don’t see in similarities …Jesus Christ goes under the water and is raised up again?

The word translated as “bishoprick” is episkopē, meaning “oversight” or the role of an overseer—as seen also in Psalm 109:8, which Peter quotes.

Judas had been given the potential to attain significant authority, likely a position of governance over one of the tribes of Israel (see Matthew 19:28). However, by his betrayal, he forfeited that opportunity and lost his future role in the Kingdom. As a result, his office was to be passed on to another—a sobering example of how privilege can be lost, but God's purpose continues.

You can debate with me but not with Peter!

“For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.” Acts 1:20

For it is written Victory!

For it is written in the book of psalms, let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take”

I don’t know how you get the above out of

Are you saying Peter was quoting Psalms 109:8 when he said for it is written in the psalms, let their habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein? Have I misunderstood what you mean? It sounds more to me like Peter was quoting:

Or some translations “let their habitation be desolate, let no man dwell therein.”

Psalm 69:25 reminds us that God is just and that He will address wrongdoing.

The word translated as “bishoprick” is episkopē, meaning “oversight” or the role of an overseer—considering the whole of Psalms 69:25 it fits also for example when Jesus Christ said not a stone would be left upon another for they devour widows houses.

You are really gone over hard against reality.

He's probably one of those greasy grace guys! :funlaugh2

Yes, the symbol of the heavens is a fitting description for the religious authorities of the time.

They are still floating around since Jesus has not yet returns and locked the devil and his demons up in hell and started His 1000 year reign.

2 Corinthians 4:4
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

You really should look in to accepting all the thin gs God says in His Word.

There is a devil and a bunch of demons still here in this world.

They are deceiving you in to believing they don't exist which is the first of many deceptions coming your way since you don't believe all of God's Word.

It's a classic tactic used in warfare to try and deceive the enemy in to thinking you're not there when you are and this is what the old devil is doing to you. That's too bad for you as you will find out.

You know the problem with people like @Big Boy Johnson and others in this thread is they are not interested in truth - they just want to promote lies.

What is the god of this world?

Well Paul goes on to define that god of this world!

For we do not proclaim ourselves 2 Co 4:5.

@David Lamb do you see?

It’s a shared ignorance that has only intensified—now reaching a point where there seems to be no stopping it in these reprobate minds.

They will continue to impose their distortions upon the Word until, in their own thinking, they’ve rewritten it entirely, leaving the true Word all but forgotten.

Job chapter 1

6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and [e]Satan also came among them. 7 And the Lord said to [f]Satan, “From where do you come?”

So Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”

8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you [g]considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and [h]shuns evil?”

9 So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have You not [i]made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse[j] You to Your face!”

12 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your [k]power; only do not lay a hand on his person.

So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.

Job Loses His Property and Children

13 Now there was a day when his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house; 14 and a messenger came to Job and said, “The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding beside them, 15 when the [l]Sabeans [m]raided them and took them away—indeed they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”

16 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants, and [n]consumed them; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”

17 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The Chaldeans formed three bands, raided the camels and took them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”

18 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house, 19 and suddenly a great wind came from [o]across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people, and they are dead; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”

20 Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said:

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
And naked shall I return there.
The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away;
Blessed be the name of the Lord.”
22 In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong.

Job chapter 2

Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the Lord. 2 And the Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?”

Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”

3 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil? And still he holds fast to his integrity, although you incited Me against him, to [a]destroy him without cause.”

4 So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life. 5 But stretch out Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will surely [b]curse You to Your face!”

6 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand, but spare his life.”

7 So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord, and struck Job with painful boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head. 8 And he took for himself a potsherd with which to scrape himself while he sat in the midst of the ashes.

9 Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast to your integrity? [c]Curse God and die!”

10 But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

Job’s Three Friends

11 Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this adversity that had come upon him, each one came from his own place—Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. For they had made an appointment together to come and mourn with him, and to comfort him. 12 And when they raised their eyes from afar, and did not recognize him, they lifted their voices and wept; and each one tore his robe and sprinkled dust on his head toward heaven. 13 So they sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his grief was very great.

John 14
29 “And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe. 30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me. 31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jesus speaks of this ruler, and his name is Satan
GNT
We know that we belong to God even though the whole world is under the rule of the Evil One.
The Evil One is Satan, and he stole from Adam and Eve their dominion over all the earth in the fall, claiming it for Himself.
John 10
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
In this case, the thief is Satan.
Satan is a liar and does not abide in the truth, everything he speaks is a lie. But the people of God know the truth, hear God and don't follow the devil. If they followed the devil, they would not be of God, they would not believe in His Son, and they would not have their citizenship in heaven.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
John 8
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In Luke 4, when the devil tempts Christ, the devil twists and lies to Christ about the word of God and what the devil claims authority over.
When the reality is the Earth is the Lord's, Satan being a thief and murderer stole this from the first man, Adam.
Christ, the second Adam, reclaimed the kingdom. Christ defeated Satan, principalities and powers and has been rightfully given from the Father a kingdom and all authority in heaven and earth.
Here the devil twists and lies about what he has.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Luke 4
5 [d]Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”

8 And Jesus answered and said to him, [e]“Get behind Me, Satan! [f]For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Psalm 24
New King James Version
The King of Glory and His Kingdom
A Psalm of David.
1 The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell therein.
2 For He has founded it upon the seas,
And established it upon the [a]waters.
Daniel 7 shows God, Christ, Satan
And here we see Christ receiving His kingdom from the Father
Vision of the Ancient of Days
9 “I watched till thrones were [d]put in place,
And the Ancient of Days was seated;
His garment was white as snow,
And the hair of His head was like pure wool.
His throne was a fiery flame,
Its wheels a burning fire;
10 A fiery stream issued
And came forth from before Him.
A thousand thousands ministered to Him;
Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him.
The [e]court was seated,
And the books were opened.
11 “I watched then because of the sound of the [f]pompous words which the horn was speaking; I watched till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame. 12 As for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away, yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.
13 “I was watching in the night visions,
And behold, One like the Son of Man,
Coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days,
And they brought Him near before Him.
14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom,
That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
Which shall not pass away,
And His kingdom the one
Which shall not be destroyed.
The Sadducees also denied a spirit of any kind, a resurrection, an afterlife.
6 Then when Paul noticed that part of them were Sadducees and the others Pharisees, he shouted out in the council, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. I am on trial concerning the hope of the resurrection of the dead!” 7 When he said this, an argument began between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided. 8 (For the Sadducees say there is no resurrection, or angel, or spirit, but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.) - Acts 23:6-8
Paul sure knew how to stir the pot.
What I find interesting: The Pharisees believed in spirits, and I see the New Testament authors' belief in daemons, diabolos, and ho Satanas in their writings. However, the Sadducee sect was destroyed with the Temple in 70 AD; modern Rabbinic Judaism descended from the Pharisees. And modern Judaism does NOT conceive of "Satan" as Christianity does. From Chabad's website:
  • Unlike Christianity, Judaism doesn’t believe in the devil or that evil has any independent power whatsoever. Instead, the Hebrew word satan means one who turns people astray.... (In the examples of Adam and Eve, Abraham and Isaac, David and Bathsheba), among many more, the satan appears to those in the midst of existential or spiritual struggles and tries to lead them astray.
  • However, it is essential to note that, according to Judaism, the satan is not an independent entity with its own agenda; rather, it is a G‑dly force that is deployed to seduce people to sin.
  • Another way the Talmud describes the satan is as one’s yetzer hara, the negative inclination—an internal counterbalance to one’s good inclination, both of which are under a person’s control. Rather than someone or something external to us, the satan, when understood this way, is part and parcel of our psycho-spiritual makeup.
  • he obvious question is: Why? Why does the satan exist? Why would G‑d create and employ a force in the fabric of creation to lead us astray? ...G‑d is never absent from our affairs, and even people or circumstances that seem “bad” or “evil” issue forth from G‑d for a purpose—namely, the fulfillment of our ultimate potential. From this perspective, the satan does not lay traps for us to fall into; rather, it administers tests for us to overcome and learn from.
Interesting how the metanarrative has changed from what we see in the NT writings.
The Jews are hardened, they were blinded by God.
So yes, they are farther from Messiah now, if that is even possible.
God does not ever cast away His foreknown people, they believe in Christ
He did not cast away me or you, we believed, so then He foreknew us as His.
Not all Jews were hardened, some few of them believed the gospel message.
Romans 11
I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying, 3 “Lord, they have killed Your prophets and torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life”? 4 But what does the divine response say to him? “I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” 5 Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace. 6 And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. [a]But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.
7 What then? Israel has not obtained what it seeks; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were blinded. 8 Just as it is written:
“God has given them a spirit of stupor,
Eyes that they should not see
And ears that they should not hear,
To this very day.”
9 And David says:
“Let their table become a snare and a trap,
A stumbling block and a recompense to them.
10 Let their eyes be darkened, so that they do not see,
And bow down their back always.”
Romans 9, the results
v25-26 non Jews who believe in Christ
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
25 As He says also in Hosea:

“I will call them My people, who were not My people,
And her beloved, who was not beloved.”
26 “And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them,
‘You are not My people,’
There they shall be called sons of the living God.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
v27-29, only a remnant of Jews through time were actually saved by God
The rest were become and made like Sodom and Gomorrah, as in destroyed in God's righteous wrath
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

27 Isaiah also cries out concerning Israel:

“Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea,
The remnant will be saved.
28 For [b]He will finish the work and cut it short in righteousness,
Because the Lord will make a short work upon the earth.”

29 And as Isaiah said before:

“Unless the Lord of [c]Sabaoth had left us a seed,
We would have become like Sodom,
And we would have been made like Gomorrah.”

Of the unbelieving Jews, Paul writes strong words, versus those who believe.

1 Thess 2
13 For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.

14 For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus. For you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, just as they did from the Judeans, 15 who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they do not please God and are [d]contrary to all men, 16 forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved, so as always to fill up the measure of their sins; but wrath has come upon them to the uttermost.

Hebrews 3
on the Jews unfaithfulness through history
No one can enter into God's rest or obtain the promises unless they believe
So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

1 Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, 2 who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house. 3 For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house. 4 For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God. 5 And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward, 6 but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope [a]firm to the end.

Be Faithful

7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
In the day of trial in the wilderness,
9 Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me,
And saw My works forty years.
10 Therefore I was angry with that generation,
And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart,
And they have not known My ways.’
11 So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”
12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but [b]exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, 15 while it is said:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”

Failure of the Wilderness Wanderers

16 For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? 17 Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

Speaking from experience, sometimes we are critical until it happens to us and then we are humiliated to the point that we stop judging others after we struggle with the same thing. You said “Peter moves his thoughts from the void by a traitor to the needs of the Body of Christ.” For Peter it appears as if the needs of the Body of Christ was not yet something he is prepared (yet) to bear. After Peter proclaims “you know I love you, Lord.” Jesus asserts after Peter is converted(and able to bear the weak) “feed My sheep.”, “strengthen your brothers.”

You said Peter moves his thoughts from the void left by a traitor…ironic when Peter will also have to move his thoughts from his own void left by a traitor.

the humiliation and humbling for Peter beginning with his own betrayal and denials of Christ, as a traitor.

I do appreciate your post concerning the devil and what it is. Maybe you know more about Judas. If you searched as you said and couldn’t find anything hopeful concerning Judas, you must have been looking for something hopeful (anything) at one time but couldn’t find not even one. Or were you looking for no hope at all and just proved your case? If you were looking for Hope …then you should be able to understand having been there yourself how I’m not totally convinced yet concerning Judas. It’s more than about being theologically correct for me. It’s how do I judge family or close friends who have betrayed and hurt and caused me harm? He instructs to bless those who curse you. To do good to those who do you evil. He says to pray for those who despitefully use you. Which leads into it not being about proving Judas as worthy…but the biggest question of all being what does God who is worthy of all praise do to those who do not love Him, to those who do Him evil, to those who harm and despitefully use Him? And to those who curse Him?

Jesus speaks of this ruler, and his name is Satan
GNT
We know that we belong to God even though the whole world is under the rule of the Evil One.

The Evil One is Satan, and he stole from Adam and Eve their dominion over all the earth in the fall, claiming it for Himself.

John 10
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

In this case, the thief is Satan.

Satan is a liar and does not abide in the truth, everything he speaks is a lie. But the people of God know the truth, hear God and don't follow the devil. If they followed the devil, they would not be of God, they would not believe in His Son, and they would not have their citizenship in heaven.

In Luke 4, when the devil tempts Christ, the devil twists and lies to Christ about the word of God and what the devil claims authority over.
When the reality is the Earth is the Lord's, Satan being a thief and murderer stole this from the first man, Adam.

Christ, the second Adam, reclaimed the kingdom. Christ defeated Satan, principalities and powers and has been rightfully given from the Father a kingdom and all authority in heaven and earth.

Here the devil twists and lies about what he has.
