These days, many churches promote prosperity and positive thinking. What do you think of these churches?

The prosperity stuff is the wrong way to see the Gospel, I see nothing wrong with positivity thinking as long as it is not sole focus. It is never good to think negative all the time

Prosperity is having enough from God for your own needs and some to share. It is not having a lot or getting everything you want.

I think somewhere it is written that if you have needs, or if you are not working ? (sorry, I forget the details),

then you should go to work in order to meet the needs of others. (this is the important part)

The way the WOF uses it is the worst. They do a con job (Copeland, Hinn, etc) and I do not believe God guarantees us prosperity

Positivity is false? Does God want people thinking negatively?

Positivity is better than negativity, if someone is taught negativity a lot, it's not good for them or even if some are very negative, that's not good for them either.

Some preachers are great at cheering people up.

What, in your opinion, is the false gospel?

Galatians 1:8 says the false gospel is cursed.
So yeah, there is one.
What is it?
Its any teaching that teaches that you can reach God, or become like God, or be accepted by God, or be kept by God , through self effort.

In Christianity, its the teaching or idea, or theology that teaches that God starts your salvation with the Cross, and you take it from there and keep it or lose it based on what you do for the rest of you life.
Thats the false Gospel that is cursed, as is the person, Galatians 1:8

What is the true Gospel.
Its that God came to earth to resolve your sin issue that was not allowing Him to accept you and have you in His family, and He did resolve it on the Cross, and THAT eternal resolution is the only reason God accepts you.

WE live in a world that is harsh and hateful and cruel, yet enticing and sensually erotically available to us at all times.

Life is HARD. Everybody HURTS. Life is NOT FAIR. Noone gets out of Life, alive.
Not one person who is on the "death page" or the "obituary" page in your Local New Paper today, thought yesterday they would be there, today.

Its a good thing to preach on the joy of the Lord. Its a good thing to teach and preach on The LOVE of God, and to stress that God's love is unconditional.
Its a wonderful revelation to be told that God's unconditional acceptance of us, is not based on our performance, but is only based on HIS performance.
=The Cross.

The NT tells us, the born again, = to "come boldly to the Throne of Grace". It does not say, come fearfully, and worried, and having a panic attack.
God is always available.
His door is open, 24/7. He is always "DADDY"...He is never "judge".

The most difficult thing for most Christians is not stopping some bad habit, but its learning how to SEE GOD as DADDY, and also learning how to see themselves as "DADDY" sees them.
God does not want you to fear Him.
He actually shed His blood to prove to you how much you mean to Him.
God DIED for you, Saint......See His love for you? Do you SEE IT?
He wants to be your friend, your "ear", your "go to", your DADDY.... He wants to be a big part of every part of your life.
And if you want the most from God, then make God your LIFE.
God is FOR YOU< He is not against you.
God is GOOD all the time.

Chances are that they have departed from the true Gospel. At the same time, Christians should always maintain a positive attitude, regardless of circumstances.

Would that not be pretending though?
Not at all. How a person responds to others or to adverse circumstances is totally within his or her control. And that is exactly what the Bible teaches.

REJOICE WHEN OTHERS SPEAK EVIL OF YOU
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. (Mt 5:11,12)

DO GOOD TO THEM THAT HATE YOU
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; (Mt 5:44)

What churches are you referring to? Until we know that we cannot answer your question.

That is Biblical prosperity. The prosperity gospel teaches that we can get everything we want if our faith is strong enough.

I think somewhere it is written that if you have needs, or if you are not working ? (sorry, I forget the details),
then you should go to work in order to meet the needs of others. (this is the important part)
Is this what you had in mind?

Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.
Ephesians 4:28 ESV

Positivity is better than negativity, if someone is taught negativity a lot, it's not good for them or even if some are very negative, that's not good for them either.
The Bible contains both positive and negative teaching. An example of the latter is found in the ten commandments. Most of them are negative, telling us things we should not do. We are to teach the whole Word of God, both the positive and the negative parts. The important thing is to keep both kinds of teaching in balance and not put too much or too little emphasis on either one.

Yes, thanks!
Later if I have time and access, I'll try to find and get and post with this the KJV for those who think it makes a difference. (I found that if someone understands the meaning , as God Grants His Wisdom, the translation they are using may not or usually does not make a difference)

Oh, I had time at home to read KJV and all, but for the readers it would be good if the text could be posted - so many on cell phones it is not rendering, or opens into a different space/window, awkwardly, and even some get a wayward link.... or for a number of other reasons cannot see the same words the original poster is referring to. It happens so often it is best for the original poster to simply post the words/ text/ , instead of 1200 others viewers all having to look it up (if they even bother) ....
See? One Person Post the Words, or it usually is not seen, and may or may not be important or worth it.
One Person Post the Words (in the original post/ if a reference/link is given) ,
so clarity is preserved, and better understanding.
