I mean absolutely no ill to those who have shared, but I honestly feel odd about this. It brings into question the heart's motive. Do I do good deeds to be seen of men, or do I do what I do as unto God alone and to bring Christ to others?

Matthew 6:1
“Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.”

Loving our neighbor means praying for them even if they aren't kind toward us. It means praying for our enemies, and if we see them in need, being willing to do what's in our power to meet that need. Loving our neighbor may mean being willing to suffer if it means they will see Jesus in us and through our actions of steadfast faith. It may mean apologizing where there is a perceived wrong, whether you were right or not, or admitting where you are wrong and humbling yourself so that you don't bring dishonor to the name of Christ. It may mean offering to help with a task in their yard, or washing their laundry, doing grocery shopping for someone who is unable to drive. It's forgiving and being kind to someone who's been unkind to you or mistreated you. Maybe letting that kid mow your yard for $20 even if you just mowed it 2 days ago. If may be taking an hour out of your busy day to bring bottled water and gas to a stranded family on the side of the road. It may mean giving a Subway gift card to a homeless vet on a hot day so he can get out of the sun and have a drink and a couple of meals in an air-conditioned environment. It may mean stopping to pick up that hitchhiker, praying for them, and buying them some food and water when you drop them off.

Hebrews 13:2
“Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

There are all sorts of examples of what it looks like to love our neighbors. In these days we are in, and especially as time moves forward when evil is increasing and the love of many grows cold, loving our neighbor will be more and more challenging. Betrayals will come. Persecution will increase. Remain humble. Love suffers! Remember that Jesus loved His enemies. Let the compassion of God flow. Ask for His eyes to see. Love much, and forgive often. ❤️

I wonder whether or not our "alms" includes our actions before men in displaying our beliefs before others. I wonder if God requires us to demonstrate our beliefs quietly, so that others can wonder if the peace that we have, can only be found in Christ.

This comes to mind, brother....

Matthew 5:16
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

I believe we are supposed to let ....let our light so shine before men, that they will see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven. I think the fruits point to Christ, and glorify the Father ...but not ourselves. I think we should be careful not to compare our good works between fellow Christians.

2 Corinthians 10:12
“For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.”

BUT ...we are to encourage one another in good works. Subtle but distinct differences.

Hebrews 10:24
“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:”

We need to be led of the Holy Spirit to help the homeless in this day and age of drug addiction and mental illness.

As a woman of 76 years and with hindered mobility, I don't think the Lord expects me to place myself in danger by taking a stranger into my one bedroom apartment. (Now if you feel led to take in a homeless individual, you can do that.)

It's better to refer a person to the Dream Center ministry or ask the Dream Center to check on the person and invite them into the center.

The Dream Center has a rehab program, work program, shelter, food and more. They are able to help the person more fully.

If it is within your ability to keep a commandment and instead you break it then you are committing wilful sin, no if, no buts, no excuses

It is not within my ability to house a homeless person in my apartment.

Is it within your ability? And are you doing that?

Would you do it for a close family member ?

Yes and never have, what am I ? A sinner and you ?

Do you remember in one of my previous posts that I said housing a family member is different than housing a complete stranger who may be dangerous?

You ask what I am? I'm a forgiven child of God with peace in my heart.

Why is it a sin not to take home a homeless person?

Did you ever get an answer to your question?
I don't think she ever got a direct answer.

Correct my friend . Just as the good Samaritan also put the man into an inn .
The truth is we should help . Also wisdom is needed .
Meaning , for example , while it is very true if we have the money we should h elp those in need
Its not like i am gonna necessarily give money to those in the s treets . Buy things they need but i would not just
give them money . Because many are s trung out badly on drugs . And being in bondage to that they would
spend that money on said drugs . but of course if one needed a s leeping bag or etc
or food we can help aide them and also try and get them into a shelter if possible where they can get help .
This ot her person that keeps on asking the same question to you and others ,
SOMETHING seems off . Its almost like he is trying to justify something he should not in order to perhaps
make himself feel better about perhaps his own sins . Just a t hought .
Because why would one come in and just keep prodding and keep prodding like that .

You said some wise things @amigo de christo The Good Samaritan put the beaten robbed man into an inn. He provided for the man's needs.

And yes we should be aware that some homeless do buy drugs or liquor with money they panhandle. If we get to know a homeless person, and discern that he isn't an addict, I think we can then give a little money for food in that case.

Likewise, it seems @sondring7 has some sort of agenda or issue to keep trying to condemn others.

Not asking you to like what I write, the Bible teaches we are all sinners and that includes anyone reading this post.
I know I'm a sinner and I simply admit it rather that trying to justify my actions with excuses.

Have you ever been homeless? If so, is that why you keep trying to condemn others? Were you homeless and didn't receive any kindness from others? And now are upset about that?

Praying for you.

Do you know the forgiveness of Jesus Christ as your personal Savior?

I wonder whether or not our "alms" includes our actions before men in displaying our beliefs before others. I wonder if God requires us to demonstrate our beliefs quietly, so that others can wonder if the peace that we have, can only be found in Christ.
The apostels like even steven and others
Did BOTH . they lived it and they preached the absolute dire necessity to Believe on JESUS .
And they even corrected error when it was seen .
Even paul was moved by The SPIRIT when he saw all that Idolarty around him and went to expound on that .
To the ones who sold us the idea not words but actions . THEY messed up .
IT was always to be both . Correction and the gospel was never to be silenced .
We should do both . Simply live by THE SPIRIT and walk not after the flesh . Believe me
they gonna see THE DIFFERENCE in us . By the way we speak and by the way we live
and by the way we do not partake in their sinful conversations and laugh at their jokes .
REMEMBER , JESUS would never have laughed at jokes or sat around
a table where folks were talking about this lady or that ladys legs or etc
AND just laughed . HE had rebuked any error .
Seeker friendly and the new evanglizing really messed up this generation .
till now , yes jay ross , till even now
when a man preaches the dire need to BELEIVE ON JESUS the CHRIST
to an atheist or false relig oin , these inclusivians call that man a religoius extremist .
IF you find that hard to believe
WELL i was that man and it happened ON THIS SITE .
I Knew that was where this was going . TO SILENCE of the gospel in favor of false love .
And jay ross , I ALSO know its gonna get much worse .
FOR the INCLUSIVE god will soon enforce its inclusive worship upon all by means of a powerful AI digital image speaking led
system . And the ecumeincal phase will come to an end
and the CRUSADE phase of lets rid the earth of all who did not conform WILL BEGIN . it was ALL a lie jay ross .
WE were infiltrated to lead all to the Delusion of the inclusion and its god who be satan as being GOD
of all the religoins . ALL of it was a set up . And they will all merge under this god
who they do bleieve is LOVE and GOD . only it was always the devil who simply got the gospel silenced
and will make ready the hearts of all tribes and religoins to make great war against the true sheep .

there is also something else my friend . Something you might or may not be aware of my friend .
This idea about no words but only actions was a serious and deadly error .
And over time LOOK at what it has led some of them too already .
Because for years we were told , SHUT up , DONT talk , dont speak about JESUS
Just do good deeds and let them see your so called love . IT was a lie . we should have DONE BOTH .
I knew , even years back , when i first seen it that it was nothing b ut a means to eveuntally silence
the preaching of the one true gospel . because saying there is only one way to GOD
divides and does not unite . and their desire was to UNITE all religoins and reshape the image of a god
that all religoins would beleive is THE GOD .
And so they have debp .
And so they have . And now some of these inclusivians
who have sat under this for some time
are already accusing men who preach JESUS , JESUS and the DIRE NEED to BELIEVE ON HIM , THE GOSPEL ,
to an athiest or any false religoin . THEY CALL THEM RELIGOIUS extremists .
ITS already began depb . I KNEW this was where it was headed .
And before you think this cannot happen . YOU GO LOOK ON T HIS SITE my friend .
I was called a religoius extremist for preaching the dire need to believe ON JESUS to an atheist
BY a so called christain . ITS GROWING debp .
And that aint all . I been warning you all for years that also
the time was gonna come
WHEN any who did not conform to this inclusive god but stuck ONLY TO JESUS CHRIST
WOUld also be persecuted . WELL , HELLO ALL INCLUSIVE AI IMAGE SPEAKING DIGITAL SYSTEM .
SOON our betrayal cometh and it will be swiftly too . I knew years and years ago , by grace
That all of that co exist , we are one stuff , WAS GONNA LEAD THEM ALL to anti christ and to the beast .
AND HERE IT COMES debp . here it comes . And oh yeah they gonna think they do the will
of GOD when we get rounded up . EVEN christains are beginning to bleieve
tha those who preach the dire need to BELIEVE ON JESUS are religious EXREMISTS . The ecumeincal phase
is coming to an end and the CRUSADES WILL SURELY COME .

You don't need to preach to me, I know Who my Savior is and how I am saved
There are a lot of homeless persons in the streets.
Do you house them all?
Do you feed them all?
Do you clothe them all?

If not, you are committing sin because helping just one is not sufficient.
You would have to
house all those you come into contact with,
feed all those you come into contact with,
clothe all those you come into contact with.

Otherwise it's the sin of ommission.

friend this is confusion meant only to justify sin .
How so .
They use the lines to make it seem like we all living in sin
and so Lets not judge and correct others sins .
The reason this other person keeps saying this is not good .
I have seen similiar responses by those who even support gay marriage or homosexuality .
NO sir , is not a sin if one does not house and feed all of the homeless .
IT IS SIN if you have the power to help , aka money and etc , Yet you do nothing .
Helping them is the key . But we are not expected to house them all .

To turn a b lind eye to the poor and not help them , WHEN one has the money to do so , Would be sin .
But this other stuff is not true my friend .
And did you know that when JESUS said what you did to the least of them you did to me
Was namely HOW we treated christain brothers or sisters in prison , or naked and hungry .
However WE are to DO GOOD to all men , SPECIALLY they of the household of God .
But where on earth some folks get this other stuff simply boggles my mind .
ITS NOT SIN just cause one does not take All the homeless into his own house .
ITS SIN if one simply does not try and help WHEN he has the power to do so .

i dont think its that at all . though it might be .
What i think is this man has bought the bait of what was sold to folks .
He perhaps wants to feel safe and safer in his own sins .
Cause i have seen lines similiar to this used against chrsitians WHO CORRECT SIN .
they always say AHA do you do this or that , if not you are sinning also .
THEY trying to feel comfortable in sin so they are doing everything to silence the mouth of those WHO correct sin .
By making them seem as HYPROCRITES . I SEEN THIS WAY TOO MUCH debp .
WHY does this man keep on prodding the way he does . IT does not look good my friend .
