We have all experienced a burn at some point in our lives.

If we touch the stove. We immediately removed our hand,
And learned an important lesson. NEVER touch the stove.
How long did that take?

We are also familiar with the burn ward at the hospital.
Severe burn victims are treated there. Recovery is horrible.
Requiring skin grafts and a slow and painful healing process.

Yet no human has fallen into a volcano (lake of fire) and survived.
Is this what God has planned for those who refuse the free gift of eternal life?
Seems pretty harsh. Receive the free gift of eternal life, or if you prefer
you will be incinerated. That is one VERY expensive FREE GIFT.

Imagine being thrown into a volcano. What a horrible thing. But wait...
That's not the end. God has created this lake of fire so that you cannot die.
You will endure this torture for all eternity with no hope of escape.

Your flesh will be burned away only to be replaced with fresh flesh to be burned again and again.
Hard to imagine a more sadistic or cruel punishment for a temporal crime. Justice? Nope.

Couldn't this have been avoided with a simple discussion?

@St. SteVen, first, why do you interpret the "lake of fire" as literal torture. Just about every description in Revelation is figurative. Another picture of hell is outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. Why people are weeping is not explained. I think that hell is the absence of God's grace and love but the presence of his perfect justice. People who go there didn't want God in their lives their whole earthly existence, and they get their wish for eternity too--of course, without the idols that they depend on in this life. I think that's why they are weeping.

Second, you judge God for acting like a merciless tyrant, according to your interpretation, but he offers everyone his love and grace. Do you really want a God without any justice that never rightly punishes people's sins? He is the just Judge, because he created all humans, who are responsible to spend their lives in glorifying him. When they don't, his just decision is to banish them from his powerful love, very sadly.

Third, the Father sent his own Son to take the punishment that was due us who believe. That's everyone's way to his love, freely given. It's people's full responsibility when they reject his way to his approval, and they then have to suffer the consequences.

Jesus is not speaking to un-believers but believers, to his disciples and followers. I'm no longer settled in stone about the hell doctrine but it is obviously something Jesus spoke about, allot.

It was created for the Devil and the Heavenly Angels who submitted to Lucifer,..... before Adam lost His spiritual union with God, and became a spiritual son of the devil.
Jesus came to birth you and me back into GOD, so that we are no longer a spiritual child of the devil.

Only false religion teaches a literal eternal suffering. God is love--not the sadist being taught by the false religions that teach that. Gods perfect justice scales prove its fact.
